I meet an Indonesian girl in instagram, instantly I got in love by her: she sings and have an amazing voice. We started talk a lot in English but sometimes I felt our relationship didn't evolved. This video make me understand that i'ts because men have a lead role in Indonesian culture and it's about a gender expectation she had on me. For me it's hard to have that role because I am used with a extreme equality between genders

Okay, I'm Indonesian, and I want to add some things from my perspective 😁: 1. Most Indonesian are very close minded, especially who live in small cities. 2. And YES, family's approval is a big thing in here, even the guys won't be so confidence to make their own decisions, they have to go to their family for approval, literally about everything! And family will interfere with everything, I mean, everythingg! 3. Usually when Indonesian are dating, they'd expected it that it will lead to marriage. Like marriage is everything in here 🙄 4. Most of norms in society are associated with religion and traditions, meaning very old school! It's all about religion, religion and religion 💆 5. It's pretty usual for woman or man to see other people (date other people) while they're dating. They think, it's okay since we're not married yet 🙄🤦💆 6. Most women look highly for 'bule' or white men or foreigners, bcuz they think it's their golden ticket to have a better life 😑 7. It's patriarchy society, men are the dominant and women are submissive. That's how we are told and taught 💆 so forget about feminism 😅 8. Indonesian sucks in English 🤦 so language barrier will be very important if you want to date foreigner! 9. Most of the guys are not taught how to be gentleman and they're pretty much not romantic! 10. Talking about sex is pretty much taboo here! 11. I'm sorry to say but most Indonesian are not well literated 😑 12. Most foreigner in dating app would say, Indonesian are friendly ☺️ 13. There is no such thing about living together for a couple, in fact if someone reported that you're doing it to the police, you can go to jail! So most people here, usually do common law marriage (or by religion), just to validate them from adultery. I think that's just it hehe... And I didn't mean to degrade Indonesian, I just said from my pov and I said most, meaning not all of Indonesian are doing the above, depends on how they brought up, their values and stuffs. But most male foreigners said, Indonesian ladies are beautiful, attractive, sexy brown skin, polite, shy, not very good in English, friendly and have the 'wifey quality' 😁🙂🙃 Idk about the female foreigners's impression on Indonesian guys ✌️

Seee, I lke that story, Aya.That is the exact indirect manner in which I win a woman's affection: when I somehow impress her with out knowing, trying or expecting anything. Now I have her full attention(She's only been a U.S. Citizen for 6 months) and after I saw how she greeted me, with the delight in her eyes and that huge beautiful smile.....I feel I have no choice but to give this woman my "all" and to constantly strive to be better then myself for her.....which is part of the reason I'm watching these vids at all. I see her again this coming Friday morning.....I want to ask her where she'd like to go, as I NEED to take her outsomewhere, but yes....Iknow she's going to tell me that's entirely up to me. Realize my largest concern is this woman getting hurt/offended, either unintentionally or the inevitable some local Philadelphian sayng something ignorant and stupid to her, which will no doubt prompt me to send that person to the emergency room to have his face reconstructed.....I really don't want Rina to see that. I KNOW whatever I did to impress her the way I have, it was the farthest thing from behaving violently, even justifiably or in self defense. NO REAL woman in ANY culture wants to see that. She'd likely blame herself. Oh, but I do so love comforting this woman........

I've been with my Indonesian gf for 7 years. I found she had a lot of conditions regarding behaviour etc similar to the themes of this video. It felt like someone wanted to force their cultural expectations onto me which she quickly realised was not going to happen, no group should ever have to give up their cultural identity purely because another group feels it offends their cultural norms especially ones that stem from an old fashioned and prohibitive religion. My gf now understands exactly what freedom of expression means and is a lot more liberal in her outlook.

Thank you for your video, the music was interfering! I'm really surprised that Indonesia had kept love sacred. I didn't know Indonesia existed last week. I just met a woman online last week. And I was treating her nicely enough for her to become my friend, a didn't realize the culture differention between Hell and your country. Here we are antireligion so imagine the difference.
