It's worth mentioning that the gongdaobei is best translated as "fairness cup". Since steeping times are so short with gongfu style tea brewing, if you where to serve multiple people straight out of the lidded cup, the last cup would get a different brew than the first cup. Hence you pour it into the fairness cup first to let the entire infusion mix and homogenize before pouring into the drinking cups so everyone gets to experience the same brew.

I finally understood the practical aspect of the tea pets!!❤ They're there so you don't pour the tea directly on the tray, thus no splashing, safer and more elegant.
@potatolord97156 ай бұрын
Nah they’re basically just little blorbos. Pouring tea on them feeds them, which promotes positive energies related to the animal represented by the tea pet. Originally they were made with extra clay that pot makers had after making teapots because it’s fun. No practical purpose other than any joy of proper procedure and collecting little meow meows

I ended up buying the rotating tea set and I love it, I actually used it two days ago to have red tea with my grandfather at the rehabilitation center. And the tea pet I got is the same in this video I named mine Kobi.

Just a heads up, if you are using boiling water your gaiwan will be hot no matter how you hold it. A way to avoid feeling the uncomfortable heat in your fingers is to pick up the gaiwan saucer with the gaiwan and pour into your strainer or bowl. Your thumb will set in the divot in the lid and the rest of your hand will hold the gaiwan and saucer. There will be enough pressure to keep everything from slipping... Gotta say, gongfu tea really made my tea time so much more enjoyable. Thank you Jesse for turning me on to this tea style that has become a regular part of my daily routine

My mom has a silly tea pet, it doesn't grow, but it's a kid that you immerse in water for a while to fill it up and when you pour the tea on it, he starts peeing 😂 point being, I'm sure there's plenty of room for more silly tea pet ideas

Jesse I've always been a bit curious why you use such a large aperture when pouring from a gaiwan? Why not use a smaller aperture so less leaves pour out into the liquor? I used to always use a strainer but as of lately I've started just using a tight aperture so that there are no leaves in the liquor, so no strainer is needed besides maybe for tightly pressed teas with lots of sediment. Also bummer to see all the homophobia in the comments :(

It's amazing the amount of ignorance one can convey with just a single comment. This is an ancient rich culture, people have been pouring tea like this in China for centuries...since before tea was ever brought to England. My point is... A lot of sex has been had by those who enjoy gong fu tea. Many women around the world go crazy for a man who has gong fu cha skills 😉 only the entrancing, elegant, interesting women though, probably not the women you tend to go after.
