Being a pregnant foreign worker in Japan can make anyone anxious. Among a gazillion other things, the allowed duration of maternity leave and the state of your finances during that said downtime can be a cause of much confusion - it sure was for me!

Thanks for this thorough explanation. Btw, did you receive the full 3 month-salary-equivalent at once? How about the months after that? I heard you will only receive around 60% for the remaining 9 months. Did you receive the 60% monthly?

Thank you for the information. I would like to ask if after your maternity leave. Do you received letter from your local government that you need to pay tax, indicating the total amount. Hi. Yes. I did need to pay an 'inhabitant tax', the amount of which, as I understand, depends on your salary. In my case, however, my company volunteered to handle the processing of that. What I did was just deposit the necessary amount monthly to my company's account and they handled the rest.

Hi. It didn't take that long in my case. And I didn't receive any prior notice from anyone that the amount had been deposited. I just happen to have Online Banking and the app sends notifications when transfers have been made to my account. You should probably go check your bank account - "baka may grasya na"😉😂

Hi. In my case, pinapili po ako ng accountant namin if I wanted to receive it once in bulk or if I wanted to receive it every 2 months and I chose the latter.

As far as I can remember, the minimum is 6 months so you should be able to. But please do consult with your HR since I'm not an expert. Thanks.

Hi. I’m not an expert but as far as I know, yes, that unfortunately means you can’t avail of the maternity leave allowance. I hope you can consult with your human resources officer and clear things up.
