Is it a rural town, with little to do?
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina3 ай бұрын
@@larrybryant6015 It has always been a more rurual town but there was an express way put in a few years ago and it has caused a lot of growth. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, movies, live music and more. But if you want some hustle and bustle, you can hit Charlotte just 20 to 40 min north (depending where in Charlotte you want to go)

@@larrybryant6015it’s my hometown and I’ve lived here all of my life. It’s pretty rural, but the country side is the best feature. Got too many transplants coming in and making our cost of living go up if you ask me though.. it’s sad to see the rural area I grew up in get torn up and turned into cookie cutter housing developments. I’m all about exercising southern hospitality but I do wish people would quit ruining what I love about my home 🤷🏼

love your videos and am exploring the different suburbs, it looks like according to CIty-Data and neighborhood scout, Monroe has more crime than 97% of US neighborhoods. not sure if that data is old. I'm focusing my search on other towns for now. thanks again for your videos.

Hey there thank you for watching. It all depends where you are. Like most towns and cities, there are always pockets that aren't the best. Closest to downtown is the highest and also has the lowest incomes and property prices. Where Monroe is growing and expanding the most is actually in the south west area of the town and north west. This location is right on the border of 3 of the most affluent towns around Charlotte. The good thing is as Monroe has grown, a lot of the issues with crime are subsiding, and getting pushed out. In addition, as larger industries and businesses enter the area, there is an influx of economic growth with is catering to better schools and community growth as a whole. It may not be that way in the down town area just yet, but the outskirts absolutely is!

If you live in Monroe you should read “Radio Free Dixie” about its history

I was gonna watch the whole video before I left my comment, but seeing as how your showing visual views of a place I’ve been to countless times. I’ll just make it now. Monroe actually has quite a bit of a different vibe than Union county. It’s actually the county seat and if you get in trouble in Waxhaw and you get cuffed and stuff you will get taken to Monroe. Monroe is fast food city. Before the tollway opened going through Monroe was a royal pain in the ass. It actually can remind me of Highway 17 in the Myrtle Beach area with tacky ass stores and, run-of-the-mill fast food places on both sides the whole way down. Downtown has a social district, but no place to go. Great Mexican food there.

It is awful to watch the road I grew up on sell off beautiful fields and pastures of cows to cut down trees and stick up developments. It really sucks honestly. Glad to know you enjoy our town though I reckon
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina3 ай бұрын
I Know how you feel. there were cows across the road from us now its multi use. But the upside is the cows are in a healthier environment now and our property values and desirability are going up so that is a win at least :)

Can you hear the airplanes? We are moving there about 10 minutes from the airport 😭
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina2 ай бұрын
No you cant :) It is a smaller airport and if you are 10 min away you shouldn't have airport noise. Now this depends on the specific location (if you are in the landing flight path etc.) but i have clients who live 2 miles from the charlotte Douglas airport and they can't hear anything. :)

Some native charlatan still refer to uptown is downtown. Uptown is the original name of the place, but it fell out of use when the area began to decline. They dug up all documents that prove that the name of the place is uptown, and decree that it officially be referred to as such. Even as a 24 year old because I grew up around native Charlotte from the 60s/70s, I tend to call it downtown because that’s what they called it. We go and sell their goods back in the day at trade and Tryon, they literally had to go up the big hill. Hence why it’s called uptown. All of the errors are due to dictation. I don’t have time to edit them because I am currently waiting on a bus to go there.

How about hospitals, health care clinics, urgent care clinics, and supermarkets. You just focus on real estate opportunities.
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina9 ай бұрын
This is a great point and I appreciate you. I think I skip over it because there are SO many that is as available as gas stations... TONS of them :) There is a great healthcare (hospitals, urgent cares etc) system throughout the Charlotte Region including Monroe. Very accessable. This includes supermarkets all over from Harris Teeter, Walmart, Food Lion and more :) I hope this helps!
@bryanmurphy90519 ай бұрын
Atrium Union is a few miles from downtown. There are family medical offices, dentists, several assisted living and rehab facilities. There's food lions around and walmart, and further up towards matthews there is harris teeter and publix.

@@livingincharlottenorthcarolina you want to add something to your video about the current very regressive local government though. This place has the potential to be great, but old monroe hates anyone who isn't white, cis-gendered , christian, and conservative.
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina9 ай бұрын
@@bryanmurphy9051 I have never experienced this, and that sounds like a rather broad generalization for those in the area. The population actually has a higher minority population than most other areas around Charlotte. I think its a wonderful all inclsive place to live
