Everything You Need To Know About Neocolor II These Aren't Crayons!

These aren't the crayons from our childhood! Today is all about the Caran d'Ache Neocolor II water soluble wax pastels. I asked viewers to comment with questions in a recent community post and in this video I will have a viewer Q&A and discuss how to use the Neocolor II water soluble wax pastels. If there is time I will answer viewer questions from the live chat and show you different ways you can create with these. While some call them water soluble crayons, Caran d'Ache refers to them as a water soluble wax pastel. Let's take a closer look at Neocolor II.

I do have the full set and I have them in a red vintage metal teapot that is only slightly taller than the pastel standing up. The tips are up so I can quickly pick the right color for whatever I am working on and all of them can sit on my desk at one time. I do mix media and they are one of my favorite mark makers. ❤

I believe the blue tins are the NeoColor 1…very similar, but not water-soluble. More like a regular crayon.

Pastel is the French word for Crayon. 😉 So, wax crayon in English is correct. 😊

Interesting I had to go look and when you check google translate pastel never comes up. It does however state "'Crayon' is actually a French word, which means 'pencil' or 'color pencil. So to refer to a crayon you can say crayon de couleur (pronounced: cray-ahn deh koo-LUHR) or simply crayon" I have not heard of pastel being a word for crayon. Thanks for sharing.
