I did my lawn last year following your previous video and honestly it cost me more money than any other time, but the result was unbelievable beyond my expectation. Good job and perfect. The only thing I’m concerning is I have to toddlers and I’m a little worry about all these chemical we feed the lawn with. I hope one day you make a video with solution for that matter. 👍

It does cost a lot. Regarding kids and pets, going forward you can try keeping up with weeds by hand picking them. Hopefully the renovation took care of most weeds. Other issues like fungus and insects may need to be addressed as they occur. There are also companies like Gnome who offer a seasons worth of fertilizers that they claim are completely safe for the kids and pets. Of course, you want to wait until things are dried out before running back in the lawn. One thing I do is only care for the front lawn. The backyard receives no treatment whatsoever. That also saves me money since I’m only caring for 2,500 SF or so in the front rather than all 15,000 SF on the whole property. Appreciate you following along and sharing your comment. One day, I’ll circle back and make a good video specifically on this topic.

I overseed it here in the Midwest a couple of weeks ago. Is it too late to add some humic acid and sea kelp, or should i wait sooner time to apply?

Thx for this. If I do rent a peat moss spreader how much do I need for a 650 sq ft area and do I walk fast or slow?
@TheLawngineer
@TheLawngineer 11 ай бұрын
I did a video on this a while back. It’s more about the spreader itself, but I do calculate how much peatmoss per square foot it would cover: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGfMmGh9fpaga5I

Hey can I do mulch jobs without having a pesticide applicators license? I see people online put it down before laying mulch and apparently it takes 2 years experience to get it

Sorry, I don’t know the answer to that. My guess would be that it might vary state-to-state.

I normally use Scott’s Sun/Shade seed as it is more readily available. I live on Long Island. I also use Scott’s fertilizer for the same reason. Are Scott products good enough for home owners, or should I be using more industrial or professional fertilizer and seed. (I have use landscape companies in the past and they use unknown seed to me , so I never know what they are using. Once it was construction seed…didn’t look good or match the existing grass) Thank you for your help.
@TheLawngineer
@TheLawngineer 3 ай бұрын
If you aren’t looking for perfection, Scott’s products will work great! The seeds can have weed seeds and other crop seeds as well as much more inert matter. That’s really the difference between that and what you would get professionally. The fertilizer and 4-step program are totally fine.

Question....Since Tenacity only last about 30 days can I put down a Pre-emergent 45 days after germination to hold me over until Spring?
@TheLawngineer
@TheLawngineer 11 ай бұрын
Yeah, you want to hold off as long as possible to put a pre-emergent down… the new grass needs to be well rooted before using a traditional pre-em. I think the label for a product like prodiamine will say something like after two or three good mows. Don’t quote me in that, but there are instructions for doing that in the label.

Great Info, how low you go on HOC and do you rake and use water roller for better seed to soil contact? Thank you
@TheLawngineer
@TheLawngineer 11 ай бұрын
I’ll go down to about 2”, lowering it over a couple mowings. You can use a water roller if you’d like. But gotta be cautious since another reason we core aerate is to relieve the soil from compaction over the season. So you might only want to fill it halfway if you’re gonna use it.

@@TheLawngineer thank you, not having to much compaction been using Humic for like 2 year soil amending it self. what about the raking in the seeds?

@@caprisingh7793 might be tough to rake in with existing grass present. If you have bare areas, then for sure. Rake and roll in.

What kind of good seed for zoysia and Bermuda?
@TheLawngineer
@TheLawngineer 9 ай бұрын
Gonna be tough to overseed Zoysia since it’s usually very thick and prevents seed from getting good seed-to-soil contact. I’ve seen people use perennial ryegrass with Bermuda though with good results.

How long is the germination process?
@TheLawngineer
@TheLawngineer 11 ай бұрын
Germination is different by seed type. KBG can be 28 days till germination. PRG is like 4 days. Fescue is like 7 days.
