This is very thorough and I can't show enough gratitude for that. I am still very new to Ableton/DAW's and lessons like this help me improve drastically as well as give me neat ideas for my tracks along the way! Cheers man.

Legit! It would take a little effort but it's possible now to key shift an entire project with a midi controller on the fly including audio clips/samples with the new Auto Shift effect which will be awesome for live performing. Not far off from the key sync function on CDJs & SC6000. Thanks for video 👍

Absolutely! You could also look into the Varispeed Max For Live device by ElisabethHomeland for this too. :)

How do you get imported samples to link with the global scale awareness function?

How do you want the scale awareness feature to affect the sample?
@DjMrGrimMАй бұрын
@ I was under the impression that Ableton 12 will match the sample to the scale in the global scale awareness. Samples have the little icon for scale awareness but the samples stay the same key as they were originally made even if the icon is checked to the global scale. 🤷♂️
@matttinklermusicАй бұрын
@@DjMrGrimM The scale awareness feature on audio clips doesn't affect anything other than being able to adjust the scale of any scale aware audio effects on that track, of which the only one at the moment is the Auto Shift device. Other than that, scale mode has no bearing on how the audio clip behaves, even when being re-pitched.

Man.. your voice audio SUCKS. It's like listening to a 1970's AM radio.. In 1970. With a blown speaker.

Sorry to hear that! I'm travelling to I only have access to some travel lav-style mics that can be a bit tinny sometimes. To my ears, this video really isn't that bad, but I'll keep an eye (or ear!) on it for future. :)

Hi Matt, another great and very well put together video from you and I find your delivery very easy to understand. I wonder if you can please tell me, is there a way to automate the scale awareness of the new Autoshift device using dummy clips too? I would like to change the scale as I move through a Session performance for each new song to ensure my voice in the right key and struggling to find a way to do it. Any help you can offer would be appreciated

Thank you!! ☺️ Yes, with 12.1 you can now turn on scale mode for audio clips. You simply need to have some kind of audio clip on the track, change it to the scale that you want, then make sure that the track monitor mode is set to 'in'. That way you won't hear the clip on the track, you'll only hear audio that is run through the track from an input like a microphone. :)
