I've watched dozens of hours of solar install videos trying to find exactly what the process entails on flat roofs here in NYC and this video is _easily_ the best one. The interview section with the homeowner felt very genuine (not to mention, awfully entertaining), the process and cost breakdowns were very much appreciated, and the video as a whole is extremely well edited and put together. Also the whole segment on the azimuth angle was not something I'd considered before so that's something new to consider. Thanks for uploading this, I was lucky to find it when I did. Can't believe they really just carry the panels up on their back on a ladder... I definitely imagined a more robust pulley system, but that's NYC for ya!

Im very happy that this was able to help you get more infomration about the process! Our goal was to create something short, informational and most of all relevant to residents here in the city and based on your feedback we were able to accomplish just that.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm certain that Everett and myself will put something together as regards a "one year later- was it worth it follow-up!" Go Green and of course let's keep the "mothership" safe for the next crew.

Thanks for the info. What about the possiblity of wind getting under the panels during a storm?

Does the install damage the roof? What do you do if the roof leaks or needs maintenance?

I want ot do a follow up to this with him but no! (Despite the minor setbacks) It's been great since installation and he assures me that his bills have been significantly increased YEAR ROUND!

It does not! It will be 2 years this May (2023) that this solar install took place. I am the homeowner and could not be more pleased with the outcome. First off, the solar panel install company (in my case, Kamtech) does guarantee against leaking however, prudence and general maintenance dictate resurfacing your flat roof (I use a WHITE elastomeric liquid compound that comes in 5 gallon pails) at least once every 2 to 3 years! One can literally coat the roof with a paint roller like you would use on your walls {medium nap, BTW} and it takes about 15 gallons to cover a 20' x 55" surface with one coat. It takes 1 or 2 people approximately 3 hours to coat correctly. You would be surprised at the UV damage done to a roof by of the same source of light that provides power to the panels. BTW,....in case you are wondering, my solar setup has been worth the investment by far. My average electricity bill is 10% of what I used to pay. And with the still available (even increased somewhat) tax rebates and incentives, it will probably pay for itself within another 5 years. Overall, one of the BEST investments I have ever made!!!

@@eznycrealestate You do REALIZE that the correct word is DECREASED! LOL! Point of fact, with deductions, it will have paid for itself in another 3 years.

what mounting system did you all use? I have a flat roof and I like this structure. Killer video and yeah, joe pesci's entertaining
@marcob.7801Ай бұрын
2" Schedule 40 galvanized pipe and floor flanges. Any plumbing supply but, you'll need a cutting tool for the pipe which should be all pre-measured before the install. Best to use a solar panel installer. Make certain that you have as close to an east west sun-path with (obviously) southern exposure. Your angle of declination should be approx. 25 degrees. The video pretty much explains everything else and you can see the installer's name and number if you look! Regards,...(Joe Pesci)

Fabulous video! You've taken a somewhat complex and dry topic and made it interesting, entertaining, ( BTW, that guy Marco with the "Joe Pesce" voice,...has he been signed by anyone yet?).....and informative. Kudos to all involved! ESSENTIAL to GO GREEN and attempt to save the planet; every journey begins with one step and then another. I believe many people assume a project ( which in this case was a "moderately sized" one) is not within their capacity financially. I felt the same way until I did my research and realized how within reach this "investment" really was!
