Great video! I just picked this up yesterday and am totally in love with the Watch. I love how you can see the amazing quality in a watch that from far away looks like a regular G shock. I’ve had many Swiss watches including Pateks,APs, etc and even Grand Seiko and you can see the high quality in the titanium finish and overall Watch.. I know it’s not unique to this Watch, but I noticed you didn’t mention the Safire crystal. It is very nice!

When I saw the price of the previous Titanium versions I thought it was too much money for a G Shock because I didn't like the designs or the colors, it didn't make sense to me. When this version came out I didn't hesitate for a second to get it and now that I have it I understand everything. It is a spectacular watch that weighs nothing and the details are superb. I’m glad I finally bought the TVA - it’s my favorite watch of any brand that I’ve ever worn. I like my other Titanium Screwback squares but this one is my favorite. They should have given the MR-G square the same mostly matte finish treatment this one received. They should release a TVC and give it a similar color palette that the TVB has, albeit solid bezel/band rather than the blocks/diagonals of color. A raw/silver titanium version would also be awesome.

Titanium is a great choice as it aligns best with lightness and ease of wear of the resin/plastic models (comfort) while enhancing the durability of the piece. Having experience a MT G B1000 I found the extra bulk of steel less comfortable, so it's really not in the rotation as a result.

My only concern is the size of the actual watch as I used to have the sponsored variant and it was just too big for my wrists! I'm a bit concerned, apparently there is a copy-cat band and bezel kit you can get from Ali-Express for certain or various other lower level squares to make it look like one of these. ...Which means a person could pay the premium price thinking they were getting one of these, but just a cheap copy or fake.

Don’t be concerned. It’s been a thing for years. It doesn’t make the originals any less valuable nor special. It’s easy enough to spot a fake too. People just need to do their research before buying and buy only at trusted dealers.

Are the bracelet pins easily removable when sizing? Does it use conventional pins or small spring bars?

Conventional push pins. It has a metal sleeve in the middle. So when removing these pins, make sure you don’t lose those small metal sleeves. It’s an extra precaution that casio does for these bracelets to ensure they stay in place. Because of the holes on the links, they had to use push pins which are smaller and fits right over the drilled holes of the links.

So let me ask you this, even though it would be a shame to change anything about a 2000$ digital watch, but would it be possible to do a, hopefully seamless, swap of that internal module for one that has the negative display? Perhaps from another GMW B5000?

Yes you can replace the module with a negative display. However there are some things to keep in mind. First, the cheapest model with a negative display is the GMW-B5000-1 (metal bezel with resin bands) retailing at 400$. Second, the module will swap easily but you will need to remove the face plate too. this is a little bit trickier to do but not too dangerous if you have modded a casio before. you can find only tutorials how to safely do this. And finally, there is no shame in modding a 2000$ watch. Once you bought the watch, it's yours and you can do whatever you want with it. If you intend to sell it off in the future, I wouldn't even touch that caseback at all. I for one, wanted to dismantle my TVA but I don't have a good enough pair of screw drivers for that task. so you know already this one is a keeper for me.

And you’re right, the cheapest one would be around 400$ with a resin strap. I love the TVA case & bracelet. But I feel the negative display would make it perfect. If I was ever to buy the TVA, I’ll look for a seller that has it and a GMW with negative display and buy them both. Maybe I can get a deal to ease the blow to my wallet 😜

Awesome video! One question. Is the bezel also DLC coated or is it IP coated? Because the official European Casio site only mentions DLC coating while the official Asian Casio site mentions IP coating for the bezel.

The bezel is IP coated. I read it somewhere and it definitely looks IP to me.

@@konap7 if you’re worried of abrasion for your G-Shock, this model might not be for you. Ironic it might be, the price of this model out weighs the durability and sensibleness of purchasing one. The DLC will scratch in time. You need to develop a mentality of ignoring scratches first before diving into an overpriced gshock. I’m coming from a mechanical watch collecting background so I’m used to scratching my pieces enough not to even worry about it. As for the module, if they are going to charge over a grand for a watch with the same module that I can get for a 3rd of that price, I’m wishing for more than just cosmetic changes. I wanted extra functions to warrant that extra charge. I guess they are adding that much because of the material and limited run of the piece. That’s another thing I would not recommend to anyone beginning it the Gshock scene.

@@DesignAtelier Fair enough. I have other watches that are made of metal. The thing with an all black model is that a scratch is not only a scratch but also shows the metal underneath. And having the bezel being more sensitive than the rest of the watch is just a bad design choice if true. This particular model just spoke to my heart like you said in your video. There are other square G-Shocks that I like but I don't like them enough to consider buying them. But this one is just special somehow... 😅

@@konap7 like with most things in life, if like it enough, you make sacrifices. I learned to move my left arm inward my body whenever approaching door posts, lined my desk with rubber and even walk with my wife on her left side so my watches stay safe! I’m sure if you bought one of these, you’ll likely take good care of it. Just be reasonable and not lose sleep over a scratch or two. These are meant to be worn and would still be very durable compared to other watches.

It looks almost too pretty to wear. Almost. For those who think it's over-priced, it's limited, so, must pay for its own production costs. That's a milled titanium clasp and the polishing is obviously by hand. It has luxury watch features that actually make its price reasonable.

The TVA is a beautiful watch. Great video, awesome production quality! Why do you think the clasp body isn't titanium? I'm fairly certain it is on other models. The steel spring bars for sure mark on it like it's titanium and it isn't cold like SS. It's on of my (very reserved) concerns about my 5000TB, is that over the years the micro-adjust and deployment spring bars will slowly drill through the clasp body.

@@DesignAtelier I own the original titanium B5000 square and I'm pretty certain the clasp is titanium. Easiest way to tell is to gauge how the clasp reacts to heat and cold... I've never noticed that it reacts any differently than the rest of the watch.

There’s nothing wrong to beat it as you wear it. It’s just perception we all need to get pass through. We all want it to be in Prestine condition. But in reality, the moment you drop the money to buy it, it’s already a 1700$ loss to your equity. So why by bothered in beating up an item that already lost value?
