My favorite Primarch tidbits: When Magnus the Nerd broke through the psychic bar rier surrounding Big E's project, either the act of doing so or Big E slapping him back to Prospero caused part of his soul to shatter. One of these shards was fused with a thousand sons survivor to create Janus, first leader of the Grey Nights. Corvus has fully embraced the Warp Fukery that made him and the other primarchs, turning him into into a giant mass of dark energy and daemon crows. He has dedicated himself to killing as many Word Bearers as possible, and stealing Lorgars life or lunch money while at it too

Remember, back in the day Horus and Abaddon had shouting matches and would storm off in a huff when they disagreed, because they were friends. Because for lack of a better word, the Primarchs were still viewed as 'people'.

Love Corvus so here is a bit more about him from the heresy: Grew up in a slave prison rules by a noble tech class that would imprison people, and sentence their kids to prison for tyranical things like "you breathed incorrectly, straight to jail" His a psyker, but not like Magnus. His power is to make other people not being able to see him. Some of his sons (The Mor Daythun) received this power too. He absolutely bodied Lorgar during the heresy, to the point he almost shreded him in too, but Conrad was there to save Lorgars life. Post Heresy story time: Lorgar finally leaves his tower after a century and first bit of news he heres is: "There is some shadow demon killing Word Bearers", Lorgars reaction to this news is to simply say "Thats no demon, thats my brother" Hail the Raven Lord

Also Konrad was jealous, of him because he was better at being sneaky, he now actually turns into a giant raven demon thing, and on Istvan while fighting Lorgar he says, "I'm going to kill you" Lorgars only response was "I know"

I just wanna mention that the thousand sons didn’t give up their bodies and become dust willingly, they were disintegrated when their chief wizard messed up a spell (that would have fixed the mutations that plagued the legion)

Roboute Guilliman has admitted that he views Emperor as his creator not his father, to Guilliman his true father will always be Konor Guilliman. The only time when the Butchers nails stopped hurting is when Angron thought of his brother Sanguinius and a soothing feeling always replaced the pain. So like the rest of his brothers Angron loved Sanguinius in his own way.

7:16 no. He’s suffering greatly. He is in agony. Slaughter grants him some peace. But he is just tired and in pain. He says something like this when he gets killed and resurrected. When he died, he found himself at peace. During that moment, he was dead and lifeless. The nails were quiet. He was at peace. But then, they began again and he found himself alive, resurrected and in pain once more. So he says “one day I’ll have my final death. My true death, I shall know peace, one day.”

@@requiem6775 that. Exactly that. They tried and failed to remove themselves Cause he regenerates. When the slavers removed part of his brain to put the nails in. His brain regenerated around the nails. Mixing together. So removing them could straight up just kill him. also. These ones were placed in incorrectly. So it made it worse than the normal ones are. While others get a rush of pleasure from inflicting violence. All Angron gets it’s a numbing from the pain they inflict. Otherwise they are constantly active. Roaring in his head. Tearing his brain apart and it stitching itself back together.

Im pretty sure they chose to do it to themselves in the hopes it would get Angron to like them. There were actually some in the legion who tried to go against their brothers and got slaughtered.

It was half and half. A small civil war broke out amongst the legion, and those who didn't want the nails to be implemented lost. All resistors were either killed or forcefully subjected to the surgery.

Correct. We know that the missing primarchs are male, since Horus has referred to them as such(he called them brothers). I don't know if this is true or not, but supposedly lemun russ and his wolves were sent to exterminate one of the lost legions. Also the lost primarchs did take part in the great crusade, and were removed from record afterwards. So we know roughly when the legions were (presumably) exterminated. Another piece of lore states that complete records of the 2nd and 11th legion exist within the imperial palace on terra, but that even the custodes aren't allowed to access such information.

@@RC-eb1qd like that, with a little work that would be a fun little twist - have it be only 1 legion had to be wiped out, and it was still Russ and the Wolves who did it, but make it sadder. The ‘lost and forgotten’ one was the Space Marine legion who ACTUALLY led the fight against the Hrud and invaded their core system, only to win at the cost of their youth - which due to them being semi-immortal Space Marines, kept them alive but still physically aged a lot and mentally became totally warped and twisted maniacs who had to be put down (due to their alien induced psychosis turning them into a legion fleet of mini-Thunder Warrior time bombs ). You can even still keep the ‘Ultramarines and Imperial Fists took in the scraps left who weren’t in the main fleet’ and keep their swell in size still canon due to geneseed stocks being built up and the like

I love how the Emperor is an instant delivery of character development to anyone he meets. In many cases they develop a severe case of dead. But like he's just a canon event for those that don't die, like he so casually fucks up your whole life.

Honestly I'm becoming a bigger fan with each one of these episodes I watch. The lore is mostly stuff I've already read or seen, but there's some interesting niche stuff that I didn't know sprinkled in. What gets me is the genuine nature of the interactions between a lore buff and a nerd but not from this fandom. It breaths that sort of nostalgia, the kind that takes me back to learning about 40k from my turbo-nerd friends when we were young. You guys are awesome

Massive Raven Guard fan; a couple things to point out. RG’s stealth units since the Heresy actually do wear less armor than a standard marine. They also in the past heavily relied on scouts and scout sniper units along with their winged cavalry charges and sneaky pinpoint stealth units. They have a very ninja aesthetic with their ability to join other legions and instead of fighting side by side they will use them as a distraction and eliminate the enemies strategic zones. They also produced 40k’s Ryu Hyabusa; Nykona Sharrowkyn, probably the best non-primarch swordfighter in the lore. He killed Lucius the Eternal and didn’t get turned into him, Slannesh had to bring Lucius back the old fashioned way.

The butchers nails were actually punishment for angron when he wouldn’t kill his childhood friend in the arena. So they put the nails in his head and he killed his friend in a blinding rage from it I believe. Fighting and rage is ironically the only thing that can silence the agony the nails produce. They are meant to motivate you to fight basically. What the emperor did to him really didn’t make any sense tbh he’s the emperor he should have clearly known

You two started me on 40k starting with TT, now here I am 2 hours of your videos, bought the first audio book and been listening, been playing the mobile game "Lost Crusade" and reading all of the bios, countless YT videos, all this to say, you two are my favorite for how you make it digestible, like if I want more I've used your videos as the jumping point. This is my 2 cents from what I learned and what helped me. Start with the necrons and the old ones, this way you don't have to double back when talking about the orcs or how the necrons got their bodies, and then you can actually make that Slaanesh patreon and explain the eld... space elves... but yeah love the content! Then energy, the tone, and the COMPLETE LACK OF GATEKEEPING AND THANKNYOU SO MUCH FOR THAT! Even in my local gameshop I felt like asking a question made me a burden or not into it enough and I'm currently about the story and lore, I would love for you guys to do all of it!

Yeah, it really is a shame they couldn't have gotten to Angron sooner. He would gave been a very good man, if they had - one of the most thoughtful and earnest of all the primarchs. A+ material. I think Rob - Guilliman, that is - had an opportunity to go down and get him before the Nails were implanted, being in that area of space, but wasn't aware of him down there and simply passed by unknowing. Absolute tragedy. If you haven't already read it, the Fresh Prince of 40k greentext thread treats with this exact scenario, and they do actually save Angron in the knick of time. Speaking of Rob, I'm in no doubt that he may yet be the last, best hope for mankind. And I don't just mean if the Imperium goes kerfuck and implodes, but like in terms of moral redemption. His recent meeting with dad resulted in him stating "My father is not a god worth worshiping." So he's under no illusions of the ecclesiastic nonsense surrounding the Emperor. And on top of that, his men are generally good-aligned (with the exception of Catty Suckassius, who is a self-aggrandizing twatshire with an annoying voice), they are very interested in protecting Ultramar, aka Imperium Secundus, and it's people. About all they're missing is Dorn and his ability to build an impenetrable fortress out of random stuff lying around. Rob and his sons *can* save the Imperium, and mankind. But we all know that GW will never let that happen, because they'd lose money off it. Somebody really should have told Mortarblast the old quote: "Resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." Probably would have caused him a revelatory mental breakdown. Like, 'curled up in the fetal position hugging his knees in the corner crying' levels of *broke.* Magnus would probably be the easiest to turn back to loyalty - not his legion, they're beyond hope, but Magnus himself. Because he absolutely was trying to help, and the only reason for his entrenched enmity is due to Horus' meddling. All he really wants is acknowledgement that he tried to do the right things - whether or not the outcomes were good, his intentions were. Give him that, and mean it, and that's all he needs. Heh, yeah. Vulkan's the big huggy Jamaican dad with a flamethrower.

There's one more cool thing about Corvus Corax: so the primarchs are genetic works of art, but that alone isn't that much. Abaddon has actually beaten a clone of Horus in a fight. But there's another aspect to them - the soul. That's why the chaos gods couldn't kill them, and scattered them instead, their souls are works of art just as much as their bodies, and basically Corax has managed to unleash his incorporeal form like rooting an android phone, and is a warp entity basically. He's sworn his vengeance on all the traitor legions and kicked the shit out of Lorgar who proceeded to hide, but it seems that Lorgar has figured out a way around because he is active in the current setting.

As far as i know most of the Worldeaters didnt get the Butchers Nails willingly. His legion tried to please him, yet he would give them more and more unrealistic goals to reach. Like taking an entire planet in like less than 12 hours. Wich was not possible, but they tried. They took the planet, yet not in the given timelimit, he made them basically pull straws, to kill each other as punishment. Angron didnt seem to enjoy it either, yet he still tortured his own legion willingly, cause the only thing he can feel is hate and rage. I dont remember the names anymore, been a while, but at one point like over half of his legion had enough and wanted to rebel against him. A former minority however enjoyed the blodshed, and the rage, and decided to get Butchers nails. And they wanted the rest of the legion to have the nails aswell, willingly or not. So they cut down the commander of the rebelling legion, and the redt of the rebels surrendered, forcibly getting the butchers nails implanted. Again, my knowledge is kinda lackluster, but thats how i remember it. The Worldeaters were a decent legion. Again, angron was supposed to be the empathic healer, if it werent for his upbringing and the butchers nails. And so were his legion supposed to be a bunch of empathic fellas. Yet were forced to be bloodthirsty killers by their own primarch and their own brothers. And the fall to chaos was just the next logical step.

The 12th legion is basically astartes thunder warriors. Very violent, very effective, and very mentally unstable.

My favourite Alpha Legion story is the Siege of Vraks. They managed to convince a cardinal of the Ecclesiarchy that he was so popular and devout that he was the champion of the Emperor and needed to spread his piousness across his sector. This turned into purges after the legion faked a failed assassination attemot and blamed it on the more orthodox members of the Ecclesiarchy. Eventually Death Korps gets involved and lay siege to Vraks to get rid of this heretic. The battle eventually ends with everyone on the planet dead, nearly 20 million dead guardsmen, untold dead Astartes from SIX different chapters, numerous titan legions crippled, and who knows how many traitor marines dead. Oh, and among the dead Astartes was nearly an entire company of Dark Angels who showed up because they thought there were Fallen on the planet because the Alpha Legion used Dark Angel IFF codes to get past the Imperial blockade numerous times.

little note on Magnus and the Thousand sons...they never gave up their bodies on purpose. Once again tzeentch being the cockbite that it is tricked the chapter master Ariman into sacrificing the legions soldiers and turned them into the rubric marines. Now the only non-dustified members of the thousand sons are the sorcerers who had enough psychic power to shield themselves from the effect. Now Ahriman is on a quest to restore the members, while Magnus hates his guts and is trying to reverse the other big oofta of the legion which is rampant mutations thanks to the connection to the warp. honestly they are one of the traitor legions that could have a high chance of becoming loyalist again if there was a way to seperate them from tzeentch and help them kick it in its slimey tentacle covered ballsack.
