I am little confused with manufacturer's mixing instruction for 4-18-38 Tomato Formula. Recommendation for 4 liters and one gallon the same ratio 2.4 - 1.5 - 2.4. 1 gal does not equal 4 liters, but it is 3.78541 liters. Please advise.

There is a link to the Masterblend website with mixing instructions in the video description, they are in litres and gallons, if you want to be exactly right, that's what to use.

They have different formulas too strawberry formula letters change the mpk but you can also change the calcium nitrate intake for Less nitrate you can add a bloom booster so it is different ways of using you just don't have to use the Tomato formula they have other formulas with the NPK

@@sunshineart.2000 if you’re using a constant liquid feed that EC might be ok but if growing cannabis hand watering use the 321 3.6 part A 1grsm of Epsom salts 2.4 gr per gallon of part B ( calcium nitrate)

Very good vid. I used this a few years back. I went to General Hydroponic recently with good results but Im going to go back to this for my tomatoes and peppers

I just received my first 25lbs order of Master Blend fertilizer kit. I also have an 2.5 gal EZ-FLO fertilizer injector setup on my drip water system that waters 8 @ 2'x6' raised garden beds. The Master blend instructions on the package are for hydroponic growing, where the plants have constant and full access to all the benefits of the Master Blend fertilizers directly to their roots. Where in a standard garden bed the drip irrigation drips on the soil and is absorbed and or partially evaporates as the sun helps it dry up. I was wondering how to mix the Master Blend products for an in ground / raised bed / drip water system using a 2.5 gal fertilizer injector?

I mix it the same way but I don't water daily or weekly when it rains. If you plan a regular watering interval I'd go half strength. Then go up from there if needed.

i do the same for a vineyard with a gallon injector from EZ-FLO, I use the dose on the bag or on their website they include a chart for how much to add to get desired ppm of nitrogen and etc in solution

Is this ok for sweet potatoes, as well? And i should use this for my tomatoes and peppers every time I water?
@HouseDadLife4 ай бұрын
I use it every time I water and have yet to find a plant that doesn't like it.

It will work for them, you dont want a lot of nitrogen but you do need phosphorous and potassium so it works out well

I've always used a Magic Bullet blender to mix all three chemicals at once in about two cups of water, then add that to a gallon water. It's always worked fine for me. Is there any problem with mixing the three chemicals that way?
@HouseDadLife4 ай бұрын
Apparently the calcium nitrate, step 3, can cause nutrients to bind up doing it this way. I have tried it and can confirm I've seen it.
@rainerrain968915 күн бұрын
Stop doing it like that ,you are creating what's called "Nutrient Lockout" meaning your plants/ aren't getting all the nutrients. Do it the correct way and you'll see a huge difference. Look up Nutrient Lockout, goodluck.

Master blend 4l18l38 main source of potassium is potassium chloride which, has the highest salt index of all fertilizers, the chloride can damage & burn plants once it builds up in the soil, especially if growing in containers that don't get flushed, it's the cheapest potassium source in the cheaper fert blends, tomatoes seem to like it but I'd not recommend the 4/18/38 blend for other plants depending? MB makes a 0/12/24 formula with potassium phosphate, potassium sulfate as K source, much better product, no excess chloride. Use it with CaNo3 & MgSO4,. It's a cheaper alternative to Jacks fertilizer 3 part

Thanks for sharing, I've thought about Jack's as well but right now it's not broke here so I don't want to change anything.

Masterblend hydroponic 4-18-38 is derived from Potassium nitrate , Potassium phosphate ,ammonium phosphate, potassium chloride, magnesium sulfate , boric acid , copper EDTA, iron DTPA, manganese EDTA , sodium molybdate , zinc EDTA.. in the Part A. Very little is derived from potassium chloride.. But far as salt content ALL nutrients are salts . They are ions and that’s what the roots uptake in specific form. Another example is organic derived or synthetically derived. They are both taken up by through the roots in their ionic form. Plants don’t distinguish because it’s all only used by the roots in that certain ionic element per nutrient.. You’re right tho it’s essentially the same as Jacks , or Green way biotech or Southern Ag . The formula came outta the 50s after WW2 when we had all these elements used to make bombs., The makers had to find a new use for them. And boom now grocery chains stay stocked with food on shelves and crops flourish all over the world. I been using Masterblend for years in my indoor cannabis grows. I also use Jacks . But the only reason and only real difference between the 2 are is the proprietary blend of filler used. Masterblend uses a tiny of sand where Jacks uses a lil bit talc. The Jacks stays cleaner longer in the resivour VRs MB.. But also why with Jacks you get a lil bit of caking in the powder from the talc. Both work equally as good as the other. And each have their pros and cons with the pros far outweighing any nitpicking of the cons. Stay blessed.

You just talking about the Tomato formula what about the strawberry formula 12 24 and 18 NPK there's different mpk values on different formulas they got strawberry they got lettuce they got marijuana one too this is the Tomato one
@timpage50216 күн бұрын
@ the tomatoes 4-18-38 is money. It becomes 5-12-26 when you add the gram of Epsom salts. The 0-12-26 just has the nitrogen taken outta the part A to knock the nitrogen down from 150 ppm to 100 cuz it’s still 100 ppm in the calcium nitrate. ( part B ).

What to do if my pepper is growing and growing 😅? Should I reduce part c (calcium nitrate) ? Bu half?. I am a victim of my own success 😂
@HouseDadLife3 ай бұрын
Lol, grow less of them, we do have that trouble as well, we grow 1 habenero and get 100 peppers.
@bulllee516 күн бұрын
Why don't you explain this different Master Blend formulas there's the Tomato formula in it which I think you're talking about is they got the Tomato formula they have different ones I believe it's 4:38 and 18 that's up for tomatoes man they got strawberry they got lettuce they got marijuana one they got different formulas
@HouseDadLife4 күн бұрын
You're right, I could have mentioned the others, I only mentioned tomato as it was the only one I tested, and the only one that's easy for me to get in Canada, although this is changing, I'm seeing suppliers start to stock some of the varients.

Can this just be poured onto the plant from a watering can?
@HouseDadLife6 ай бұрын
You bet it can! And you'll get the benefit of foliar feeding.
@drgr33nUK7 ай бұрын
I've found the calcium nitrate that comes with the kit is lower quality than what you can buy online. I only noticed when I knocked up a stock solution and had a bunch of residual crap left in the bottom.
