My personal favorite aspect is the enemy skills. Initially, I thought it was acceptable that the remake only included four of them. However, witnessing the stunning visual impact of Trine when the materia guardian used it against Cloud and Sephiroth in the demo left me utterly impressed. It's a game-changer! Let's make our voices heard , the devs should expand the roster of enemy skills.

Great video only one thing I wanna mention though. Remake is kind of reconing the whole Aerith is the sole survivor of the Cetra, which makes sense if you think about it. How can a full blooded ancient be around after 2000 years if 99.9% of them were killed off back then? They changed the script in remake when Elmyra states “Aerith is the Sole Survivor of the Ancients” to “ She is “Probably” the last of her kind. Even Hojo makes a quip saying Ifalna was the last “Pureblooded” ancient. This is setting up there may be more half-blooded or mixed Cetra out there somewhere. And honestly there has been a theory out for years (like back when Advent Children came out years) that Marlene is also part Cetra. Even in OG FF7 she has always been very keen to things that a normal 4 year old should not be. The final CGI scene in the original game she can sense Holy and the lifestream and Aerith before it’s even visible anywhere by midgar while she was all the way over in Kalm. Don’t even get me started in Advent Children stuff either the entire movie she is very in tune with everything and is the literal stand in for Aerith’s role 100%. She even knows where Clouds Geostigma is located before and he literally has told no one about it. The remake scene with them both I am fully confidently say is not Aerith giving her a future glimpse of the timeline…every future glimpse involves Blue/Green magic orbs and is instantaneous upon a touch. There was no magic orb with Marlene and she was hugging her for about a full minute before the thing happens….the world vibrates and she instantly calms down and Aerith wants her to keep whatever they experienced together a secret. Why? Because if they find out another ancient is around she would be a target the rest of her life. And lastly she tells Zack a scary man will kill her when she wakes up from her coma….if Aerith showed her the future, it would have been OG timelines future not Zack lives now future where everyone else is dead and Cloud and Aerith are both in a coma future….Aerith didn’t even know Zack is still alive until AFTER they kill the Arbiter of Fate and left Midgar.

I agree that they are heavily hinting at Marlene being a Cetra. I was going to start down that rabbit hole when I got to Advent Children. I say 99.9% but its most likely 90%. But because up until Ifalna, the Cetra were basically just legends and folk tales, trying to think about other surviving pureblood Cetra up to Ifalna is just fruitless at this point since the writers haven't really focused on it. At least until Remake. Great observations though. I'll definitely credit you when the time comes. ;)

They never call the planet Gaia or Earth in Remake or Rebirth nor in OG FF7. If you want to call it a name, just call it Hoshi since they always call it that in Japanese. In English they will sometimes call the planet 'she' or 'her' but in Japanese they always say Hoshi. If you need any additional reason to think of Hoshi as a name, the communications officer on the Enterprise was Hoshi Sato.

Now check out Bugenhagen in the rebirth trailer in the planetarium.. it appears we will get the proper name, as opposed to the name given to it by western magazines based on the similar FF the Spirits Within, which similarly has an earth Gaia(LifeStream) versus an alien Gaia (Jenova, alien LifeStream).

The calendar we use in IRL is based off the birth of Jesus, Anno Domini , "Year of our Lord" as it were. FFVII calendar begins at the approximate crash of Jenova. Hope that clears it up.

This was very frustrating to watch. There is some really good stuff here: video editing, sound editing, logical flow of thought, good pacing… and then every two and half seconds there’s a desperate attempt to make a joke which comes off as both pandering and whining. Backing off the poor attempts at humor would drastically cut down your run time and streamline the entire video.

You’re right that humor is subjective, it just seemed to me that perhaps the attempts at jokes were a bit heavy handed and too frequent. I think a bit of humor would fit nicely into a video like this, but it seemed to be the focal point instead of a nice sprinkling of levity. I’m not suggesting the omission of humor entirely, just to ease up on it a bit. Like I said, you’ve got a lot going for you here. Your production does a lot of things very well; better even than most videos like this I’ve seen. At the end of the day, as you said, you must make something that you like and that you’re happy with. Hopefully the agitations of one internet irritant haven’t dampened your enthusiasm to continue your work.

If you have that FF7 itch that the Remake didn't scratch, highly recommend 7th Heaven mod manager with the Steam Final Fantasy 7. I was playing through New Threat 2.0, no joke, the best FF7 experience I have EVER had.
