I loved both but I actually found the padding and side stuff in Remake way worse and mostly pointless except the Avalance members, that bit was great especially with Jesse and her family background scenes. I agree with Rebirth not progressing the story much and answering much, it pretty much answers nothing lol that did really annoy me but I know we just have to wait for part 3 for the mass story elements. It was kinda the same in the original though u got a lot of the story all at the end though it was way better paced in the original. Even though the story didn't progress or answer much in Rebirth I absolutely loved it. I am not normally an open world do everything person but I was obsessed in Rebirth! I love this game so much I said I will buy it again when it comes out on PC lol and I try so hard not to double dip with games but this one I really will. FFVII is my favourite game ever. I do wish it wasn't 3 games in the Remake though and that they removed a lot of the padding and just made 1 big awesome game or 2 if you really have to. Great to see you try the original in todays generation of gaming though and can still appreciate it!

My bone to pick with the game is excessive sidequest so that the omnipotent Chadley gives you a new materia or and the summons also being still tied to Chadley instead of reaching one of the summon temples and fighting the Summon there with a background akin to the region or their element. I can enjoy some exploration in the open areas but on Rebith I find it maybe too big and empty. Every time I see a new big open area I get a Chadley PTSD.

As an older fan who just watched hours of FF7 lore videos to make sense of the remake trilogy, Nomura wasn't kidding when he said he wanted this trilogy to be for the new fans. To better or for worse. It was a hard pill for me to swallow but now I knew why remake and rebirth didn't vibe for me, and it was because of trying to see it as an extension on the OG built up FF7 lore. But yeah, like some comments said, this is a bad take. Remake trilogy is trying to take what were so many spin-off titles where Canon, a movie, side mobile games, and trying to condense them into a trilogy...dunno why they went with a trilogy. You can go back and play OG FF7 and the pre remake games, but that storyline is pretty much done for. And they probably realized even the biggest FF7 fan probably wasn't going to explore all the forms of media. So they are trying to condense it all to make it all make sense. Anyway, enjoy the raid neo FF fans, you get to enjoy what the earlier 2000s where for ff7. At least you get it in 3 games versus like 9 and a movie.

I feel part 3 will be completely off base from the original. The Reason why is because technically Safer Sephiroth was the final boss of the original and Aerith was spiritually alive and it shocked Sephiroth that she unlocked her true potential to travel Between different realities without needing a "host" body evident by Cloud having Degradation Disease slowly turning into Sephiroth like Glen did. So don't be surprised if the game is totally different from what you remember! Because Aerith is physically alive in "the world that accepted its fate" along with Cloud and Zack. Which I feel part 3 will show both sides of the game and may potentially have us fight Sephiroth to stop meteor in one timeline and to awaken Holy in the other timeline world. Now for the finale, Sephiroth will have 3 Battles: 1 in the world that accepted fate which I believe is the "real" world Because technically Barret was supposed to die in the 1990's version, one in the timeline where Aerith passed then the climatic ending where Sephiroth gathers all other versions of himself and becomes "Kami Sephiroth"! Hopefully we get the choice of good or bad endings!

This is a pretty cool idea. And while I'm sure some elements will definitely be a part of the final game (like alternate world Aerith that Cloud saved, or created from the Lifestream however the worlds function. The devs have said we will get an answer on this in part 3), but the big 3 have said many times now that they aren't changing the story or most iconic moments and locations. So it will likely end the same, with most of the same things happening (like Safer Sephiroth, the Lifestream sequence with Cloud, the northern crater, etc.) Just that there are going to be some very confusing and new elements, like the Lifestream worlds and whatever they're doing with Zack. Which funny enough the developers almost outright said he's not making it to the end, as they said they wanted to rearrange the order of some events "Like Zack's death", so he'll likely disappear into the Lifestream at the end or choose to sacrifice himself for the good of the world

(Warning this is a long read) I agree with the great majority of what you said here. (storytime) I will admit my initial reaction upon completing Remake having played the OG a few months before was "This could go wrong VERY easily", but after I slept on it I went back to stuff earlier in the game and thought "Wow, they were hinting at this since the literal first few hours of the game. Maybe they do know what they are doing." And now it's quite possibly my favorite game of all time - yes even over the OG. The ending is still extremely exciting and fun to replay, and I'd argue the Sephiroth boss fight there despite being MUCH easier than Rebirth is more enjoyable. But when I got to the final chapter of Rebirth, it became overwhelming *very* quickly and so much random crap is thrown at you all at once it's hard to stay engaged or excited at all. There were certainly elements that made me very happy, such as Zack and Cloud getting to fight together even briefly, but That Aerith Scene left a very sour taste in my mouth. That scene is extremely impactful even to someone like me who wasn't alive yet when the original game came out, and is at the core of one of FF7s' main themes. Why did they think it was necessary to confuse the player? Was that really better than an ACTUALLY IMPACTFUL scene that would've affected newcomers just as much as many first timers from 1997 were? Because no matter what they do now with the third part, whether we get the full scene when Cloud recovers his memories(which I would bet money on we will get it there), the moment of grief in which it happened is gone. It will never exist in the Remake project. People will have already formed their own interpretations on what happened to her, so all it will do is confirm or deny their assumptions. How is that emotional at all? Yes denying a loved one is dead is realistic to real life, but for a story, you will emotionally impact people by clearly showing that they are dead *despite* the loved one being in denial. Yes without a doubt she is dead in some way shape or form, but they made it so unnecessarily wishy washy that it robs the situation of practically any sadness. Cloud blocked the swordstrike, he saved her! No wait, there's blood? She's dead! Wait no, she just woke up and spoke to him! Now she's lying on the ground motionless, she must be dead. She just came out of a white portal? Did she come back from the dead? Oh she's fading, guess she's really gone. She woke up, she's alive?! Now everyone's grieving? Nobody can see her? Okay I guess she is dead. What a mess. Oh yeah and not to mention like you pointed out in the video, the giant boss rush takes so long that even if there had been a feeling of loss created, it was completely demolished by the time you went back to go see her body. Sorry for the rant about Aerith, I am just personally VERY ticked off as she is my second favorite female character of all time and I feel like the end of Rebirth did her character arc so dirty. It's not that I want her to be dead no matter what(because like I said, I love her), it's that they created confusion where there could've been a great moment of loss or victory, whatever they'd chosen the outcome. Instead they went for a convoluted in-between that left me feeling very unsatisfied. Yeah and there were some things before ch 14 that were pretty frustrating to do. Don't get me started on exploring Gongaga and Cosmo Canyon. If it weren't for those two having the absolute best OSTs of all the regions in the game imo, I would've given up on all the content in the two very quickly(actually Nibelhiem might take the cake; Anxious Heart is in my top 5 tracks of FF7 overall). Very much agree with the Cait Sith boxes sequence as well, I got so annoyed at that. Was still very happy to see Vincent afterwards though, almost made it all worth it. I honestly still love Rebirth despite my harsh criticisms of the ending, and chapter 13 is one of my favorite things to come out of the Remake project so far both voice acting and characterization-wise(if I ignore the tedious navigation of the temple lol). I just hope the third game really hits it home, because the devs have been promising and discussing parts of characters upcoming, and after having lost a part of my trust I am a bit skeptical. That aside though, part 3 will likely be my most anticipated game of all time, so hopefully it makes Rebirth feel better after having the full picture Edit: forgot to add my two cents about Zack. Honestly all things considered they handled him fairly good this game, and he is the ultimate enigma of the final game. Although I was very frustrated with how they made the switching POV feel completely pointless when all of a sudden in the final chapter these other words are created from Zack's indecision of what to do with Biggs and Hojo. Oh yeah, and Biggs felt completely pointless as well just to throw him away like that at the end. Tbf I didn't know what they were going to do with him in the first place after Remake, but if I'd known then that he would've added literally nothing of importance to the story, I would've been more critical about it at the time. With what happened, it felt like the team brought him back just because players might be sad about his death and wanted to give them pointless fanservice.

I just finished ff7 rebirth and i was looking for a video review of the game, hoping to find someone that doesn't just prase the game ignoring the fact that at least 60% of it is doing lame stuff for Chadley (btw, are my audio settings that bad or Chadley and especially Mai (i had to google her a bit to remember her name) are disturbingly loud?) and instead goes through the things added into the series that are actually worse. I'm totally with you for the most of what you said. To begin i will say that i never played ff7 ps1, nor i knew who vinced is or what to expect from the story, i just knew (because you know, i use the internet...) that in the base game Aerith dies and that in rebirth, the autor of the game said that will not follow all the base ff7 events and Aerith will not die in this game. But i did 100% ff7 remake + integrate, i loved every single part of the game, and i finished the main story of ff7cc (not a bad game, definitely worth playing, at least for the story in my opinion), so, when i got into ff7 rebirth. I had quite a background. I honestly got really hyped at the beginning of the game, i was expecting to play as zack and the fact that it happened made me really excited, and when i saw that you can play as sephiroth, omg 😱. And all the game i waited for the moment to play as both of them again... And then you only play as zack at the end of the game, and never again with sephiroth... Also, zack is kind of a hard caracter, not the kind of caracter that you pick up and just smash buttons and stuff happens, so you can't expect me to be prepared to beat the game with a character like him, just like that, without knowing what he does, like for real, on what other game do you get tutorials on your final boss, 100h into the game? So this is my first complain, why did the add 2 complete characters if only for them to be playable 30 min at best? Why didn't they added Vincent too then? Going on, i feel like everything added in rebirth (except the synergy abilities, those are neet) is bad. So, every activity in the open world isn't fun, i think maybe nibbleheim was the best map, perhaps because it was the smallest one, and those chocobo seeds are easy to find, the proto relic involved only fighting (so no lame minigame). But the rest of the world was just awful to explore, and gongaga have the worst ost i've ever heard in my entire life, i hate that ost so much that after a few hours i just turned off the music (and the lost the ost's of the side quests, specific places and stuff). Also, really disliked that moogle minigame. I wasn't bad at it honestly, i did all lf them first try fortunately, but i feel like weren't needed, like at all. Those cactuar minigames are unreasonably hard, that robo bs stuff i had to google a good set up to skip it, and the list of things i didn't like goes on. But to summarise it, everything they added on rebirth, except the minor stuff adjusted to the combat system, in my opinion was unnecessary, not fun, tasteless. The main characters don't interact enough for the player to get their feelings, they are just there, you can get what they are thinking through maybe on line sometimes and facial expressions, but the most of what they are saying is related to what are they doing in that specific instant or filler, so basically ff7 remake tell more about Tifa, Barret and especially Aerith then ff7 rebirth, and i feel like its a sad thing considering that for the most of the time you basically collect data from around the world for Chadley wich is a pointless side characters... Red xiii is almost completely ignored until he turned off his cloud voice changer, for then to be completely ignored again, but also woth a worse voice for no reason. I love batter, and i like his background, but the fact that they dramatised so much his status in corel for then just telling his story and letting him say "don't worry, i can take it" and moving on felt really wrong. I guess Aerith got her good chunk of screen time at the end of the game, even though i don't understand why there is always someone who get all the attention while the others are just there in the background, saying nothing or just pointless lines, but anyway. Yuffie is just better introduced in the integrate dlc then here in rebirth, and cait was just passing by i guess. There is too little reasoning to all the events that occurs in my opinion, and the worst part of this are the chapters involving the gold saucer, especially chapter 12. Chapter 12 is just random bs for 1h or even more, the world is ending but the corneo guys had to bring cloud the bench vending machines for it to take a break from the fight... Stuff like this that brakes the serios mood kills me, and there is a lot of stuff like this in rebirth, while in remake there isn't much, or the whole arc has a good build up it, like the arc in which you have to win the dress competition with cloud, in that competition in which is involved corneo. Im conclusion, there is more stuff to say, but tlddr, ff7 rebirth definitely was a profitable project for square. but it failed at being a good game, they went too much towards the new players in my opinion, and there are just to o many parts that feels like made for a kids game. P.S. KH3 was an amazing game, you cannot compare it with ff7 rebirth. rebirth for the most part felt like the average lame disney world plot from a kh game.

I loved remake despite the flaws. I loved the linearity of it, how cinematic each chapter was, and exciting. I especially loved the soundtrack and how kino moments were made, for example the entire mission with Jessie and the bike ride. But in Rebirth, you have ZERO kino moments. Just this big generic time consuming open world. Basically its like you said, Rebirth is like the introduction to part 3. And the plot was just so bad. Anticipation after anticipation. Basically nothing of worth happens in that game. Even Aerith's apparent death is made a mess of. You're not sure if she's dead or not (she's obviously like Sephiroth, in the lifestream or something).

It's too bad that the Fort Condor game was only with the DLC. While Rebirth felt a bit cluttered with everything. Man I have to disagree with alot of your opinions here, Rebirth is probably the most fun I've had with a video game since OG FF7, and while Remake probably still makes my top 10 it had alot of shortcomings that Rebirth improved on. Side content was terrible in Remake felt like chores, most side content is really fun and engaging in Rebirth with only a couple minigames being overly frustrating. Combat while still fun in Remake is so much better in Rebirth, aerial combat synergy moves and the whole party on the sidelines are all really nice improvements. As for the story, as someone who played OG FF7 you should have been fully aware of how much story development was going to be in this game long before it was even released. I also prefer that Rebirth shows less of the new Sephiroth stuff than Remake did, I personally don't like any of it. I will say though one thing I fully agree with is the Ending is pretty bad, it completely ruined one of the most iconic scenes in all of gaming, stripped it of emotion and filled it with confusion, that being said I didn't much care for Remakes ending either, But FF in general usually doesn't deliver satisfying endings in my opinion.

Remake was close enough to the original and expanded on things that felt appropriate. Like Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge. It also set up some interesting questions for what followed. The whispers and the ending to remake were just set up. What they did with it going forward is what determines how good or bad their inclusion was. The ending to Remake suggested that the story was free from being tied to the original. Then in Rebirth they just followed the major story beats of the original but changed the context and meaning behind them. Characters are out of character. Zack was pointless for what little screen time he ate up. Biggs was pointless and brought back for nothing. They butchered Aerith's death, completely missing the meaning behind it and killed any emotional weight it would have had. Sephiroth is no longer menacing but just shows up from time to time to troll Cloud. They added pointless multiverses that have nothing to do with the story of FF7. Rebirth blows its load of mini games all over the place. Just throwing that shit at you every chance it gets. Sometimes for no good reason, here is a random mini game. Bottom line, fans wanted a faithful remake of the original game and that is not what we got. Instead, we got some Kingdom Hearts bullshit.

I mean this might not be the single greatest video ever made but this is such an L comment section haha. I personally struggled with Rebirth as well. I think it has many characteristics that I specifically disliked that made me not enjoy my time quite as much as with the first installment. To begin with, I really struggled with the pacing. While Remake can be excruciatingly slow at times, it never really stops, leaving you constantly moving between long story segments that allowed for a better investment in the plot for me. Even if you could alway trim some fat, it felt like the game was constantly moving forward and the incessant chatter between the party members really helped to develop their personalities and relationships. Rebirth felt like it rather opted for a "stop and go" approach to storytelling with shorter, digestible story segments that never quite felt long or substantial enough for me to be completely invested and immersed in the plot. As if the game was either hard pulling the brakes or going full throttle with barely anything in between, which I personally found very exhausting. Not only that but that main content is also constantly being cut with side content which, while pretty much objectively better than Remake's, still felt very exhausting due to its sub par quality (when compared to the main content) and its optionality (I personally just always find side content exhausting, regardless of its quality, this is definitely a me thing). I could've skipped it, but it felt integral to the experience and was good enough that I felt like it was worth experiencing, though I recognize I probably would've enjoyed the game more had I left some of it for after the main quest instead of doing everything in one playthrough. Also, because it is so much larger and bigger and has more content, writing, characters, dialogs, it felt less tight overall. I found the characters to be more hit and miss (with Aerith, Nanaki, and Cid being on the weaker side in my opinion), compared with Remake which absolutely nailed the writing of every main characters, while allowing for deeper and more meaningful interactions with most of them given their increased focus and respective screentime (again wth happened to my girl Aerith between both games). I found Remake's writing as well to be overall a bit better, with mostly great character interactions and memorable dialogs. The slower pacing also allows for the game to sit on and explore feelings for greater lengths, instead of constantly moving at breakneck speed barely giving you time to breath and giving you constant emotional whiplash between tragedy to goofy or back to intrigue like with both the Dyne and Seto scenes. Overall, the game is roller-coaster of emotional whiplash with which I really struggle personally. The plot felt a bit too all over the place with all the Zack segments that, so far, are still leading nowhere. The game has worse presentation with very inconsistent graphics and many issues like blurriness, lighting (which was a big issue on my screen) and ghosting which where all pretty distracting to me and often taking me out of the experience (though again, I'm a visual artist so I might be more sensible than most to those types of things). Compare that to Remake which is still, in my opinion, one of the best looking game ever made. Rebirth still has some pretty good strengths : the side content is much better, some characters are massively expanded upon (especially great if you're a fan of Tifa, Barrett and/or Yuffie), it's absolutely massive, the combat is superior in every single way, it has more of FFVII than Remake. However, depending on what you value and what you can tolerate as a gamer, it is definitely possible to prefer Remake over Rebirth, which is my case, though I have basically found no one sharing that view, with a lot more people shitting on the game now that before Rebirth lauched and a lot of caution when expressing such an opinion as you might have observed with the reactions your video has garnered so far... Edit : wording

So you're complaining that Rebirth had too much filler content... one of the biggest complaints about Remake was that it was too linear and did not have enough filler or side content. I swear hardcore gamers are the whiniest and most annoying group of people in the world. You'd probably enjoy Rebirth more if you had a more balanced lifestyle.

@everlastingflames13 My point is that hardcore video gamers, for the most part, live an isolated existence where they think that only their opinion and experience is the correct one. The guy who made this video never acknowledged that Rebirth was designed and developed with a lot of filler partly as a response to the overall criticism from the community that Remake (the game released in 2020) did not have enough filler. So for every guy out there who loves the immense amount of content in Rebirth, there's a guy who thinks it is too much content. It would be a breath of fresh air to hear these hardcore gamers who present their own opinions and experiences as objective fact take a step out of their own little worlds and acknowledge that the games they play are not exclusively created for their own personal enjoyment. And overall what I'm suggesting is that if hardcore gamers did not rely on video games to provide them personal fulfillment and they lived a more balanced life, their perception of certain games would be much different and they would not complain and "criticize" them so much. A lot of these "criticisms" come off as projections of unhappiness or dissatisfaction with their personal lives (I'm assuming the creator of this video is a hardcore gamer. Apologies if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure he is based on my own experience of interacting with these guys back when I worked at an entertainment retail store. They are usually very quick to dismiss any experience that disagrees with their own, and are more interested in telling other people what they think and feel as opposed to having a reciprocal conversation... again apologies if I got the wrong read on this).

@@rsoxboy obviously I’m not the creator of this video, neither I consider myself an hardcore gamer I’m just a guy who loved FFVII from the first time I’ve played back in the early 2000s. From my time I never seen people saying that FFVII REMAKE didn’t had enough filler or actually side content, filler in my circle is considered content that are just used to bloat any content and in my eyes FFVII R has a LOT, anything that was added to the game didn’t really adds if you understand what I’m sayin, it’s just to make the game feels bigger and justify to be divided in 3 parts, not that it HAD to be divided because it had much content.

I've decided to stop buying Square Enix games right away and instead, I borrow them from the library. This way, I can try them out and decide if I actually enjoy the core mechanics before making a purchase. I usually wait for the games to come to PC or go on sale if I find them worth buying. I find it frustrating that Square Enix sells games without offering the option to purchase the full package on launch, including DLC. For example, I paid $90 for Kingdom Hearts 3 at launch but now I can't access the Re-Mind DLC without paying extra. It feels like a betrayal. The decision to create DLC for Final Fantasy 7 seems like a departure from the complete experience of the original game's 3-disc legacy. I also think there are too many repeated quests in Rebirth, which becomes tiresome, especially for someone like me who aims for completion. I personally enjoy the story when I am not doing side quests card games (definitely a Tetsuya Nomura-ism) And let's not even get started on Chadley and his incessant AI discussions or the frustrating stalling of data collection. I agree with you on the Shinra mansion, and disagree on basically everything else. I think the big difference between us is that for me, while I loved the vast majority of Remake, I wasn't a fan of the ending. The questions it raised left me feeling nervous for the future, rather than excited, as I questioned whether they were actually going to remake the rest of the FFVII story, or go off in some completely different direction, telling an entirely different story that I honestly had no interest in seeing. They promised a remake, and I was here for a remake. I didn't expect the remake to be 1:1. I was prepared for changes. They want to give us an expanded remake with added lore, additional plot threads, and new character details? Sure. I'm totally on board for that. A completely new story though, that has nothing to do with actually remaking the story of FFVII?...Nah. Not what I signed on for. If the story had gone completely off the rails after Remake, I would have been pissed. Rebirth, in contrast, was incredibly reassuring. As I played through the game, watching all the classic character arcs recreated, and expanded upon in stunning detail, I could feel all of my worries about the future of this project just slowly wash away. Combat was still amazingly fun, and the issues remake had with midair combat have been completely fixed, with Synergy skills being a fantastic addition to an already great combat system. The character writing was fantastic throughout, and I especially love how they portrayed Cloud's deteriorating mental state.. The added lore about things like the Black Materia, the Gi, and the lifestream, were all great. Chapter 13 took one of my least favorite parts of the OG, and turned it into one of my favorites. The minigames were largely enjoyable. The character sidequests were actually fun. I actually like Queens Blood, and I usually HATE card games in RPGs. Also, getting to see all of the classic FFVII locations brought to life in this style just had me smiling from ear to ear throughout my entire 133 hour experience, and while the game didn't give us many 100% definitive answers to a lot of questions that were raised at the end of Remake, I personally was never expecting that. I figured they would save the definitive reveals for part 3, and what details they did share throughout the story did a lot, I think, to help us get closer to figuring things out. I can honestly say that I was never bored, and after finishing the game...I immediately went back to replay it two more times. Where Remake left me feeling worried for the future, Rebirth had me feeling like the developers were saying: "Don't worry. We've got this." It's easily my game of the year, and I can say with confidence that nothing is going to top it for me. As for the ending, I actually dig where I think they're going with it. The developers have commented that in the original game, they specifically wanted to portray how sudden death and loss can be. One minute, the person you love is right there, looking at, and smiling at you. The next...they're gone. No warning, no time to prepare. Just gone. This time, they said they wanted to portay how difficult it can be for someone to accept loss when it first happens. I take this be confirmation that Cloud is essentially in denial about Aerith's death, and has merely convinced himself that he saved her, because the reality of the situation is just too paiful for him to deal with. We see the scene from Cloud's perspective, as he lives out the fantasy of saving Aerith, so that he doesn't have to face the reality of a world where she's gone. I think the Aerith he's talking to, and fighting alongside during the ending, is really just a ghost in the lifestream, and she's merely putting on an act for Cloud's benefit, because she realizes that he's in no state to handle the truth right now, and if he were forced to face the truth in this moment, he would lose himself to despair, which is exactly what Sephiroth wants. I think this will all come to a head during the remade lifestream sequence with Tifa, where Cloud will not only have to face the truth of his own past, but also the reality of Aerith's death, and I'm 100% here for that. The idea of Cloud going through a stages of grief arc, from denial to acceptance, sounds absolutely amazing to me. I can't wait to see how this all plays out in part 3, as the rest of the FFVII story is reimagined.

I for one do agree with you. Remake was more fun than Rebirth. I skipped everything in Nibel and Meridian regions once I got to them as was over the pointless and lengthy filler content. Cosmo Canyon was half complete. Could Remake have had more fun stuff to do? Sure. Did Rebirth have wayyyyyyy to much? Depends on opinion. I think so. The battle mechanics are improved no doubt and chocobos were cool (but those wrangling games were a headache and some of the abilities to get around the region....) but it did feel like Enix were really stretching out everything they possibly could. I don't mind the exploration but there were simply just too many tick boxes to cover before any more story happened, hence the pacing of the game is terrible. Side stuff should be that, side stuff. Optional. Not mandatory for winning items that allow you to get the best late game gear. It goes from fun and optional to boring, tedious and mandatory if you want to take on the rulers of the outer world.

I don't believe Rebirth is a failure at all. When it comes to sales, don't forget it's currently onlybon PS5. I'm a pc player and I'll be frank, I'm not gonna buy a console close to a full month's paycheck just to play 1 game. I'm waiting eagerly for the release of Rebirth on pc to buy it, same way I waited for FF16. Can't talk for things in-game that well, since I'm remaining spoiler free to have a raw experience (minus a very certain scene between Cloud and Tifa lol), but I'm gonna say that from the spoiler free reviews I've seen, I've only heard praises with very few if any negatives and the story not being a part of them. All I know is that from the trailers and reviews, it's an amazing game that most who are ok with them making creative decisions (especially since both Kitase and Nomura are part of the crew) are gonna enjoy, and that includes me btw. Finally as for the combat, I like that it's a more hybrid type, between strategy and hack and slash, cause many players nowadays, and I'm sorry to break your bubble og FF7 elitists, prefer fast paced action combat (not all, just most), and many people (including me) wanted to give FF7 a try, but I can't stand turn based combat. I'm sorry but I find it boring af. That's on me though. The fact that game still keeps elements of the og combat through the ATB mechanic and the materia system and allows you to plan how to build each character, is imo a very good move. I find the hybrid format the best kind for this game.

Remake had SO MUCH padding, it's hilarious to me that you barely criticize it in remake and then make a big deal about it in Rebirth. I will agree the Cait Sith dungeon was stupid and probably the worst part of the game. But outside of that, most of the content you could consider filler is either skippable or optional. In Remake there were entire chapters that you could remove, like chapter 10 and 11, 2 whole ass chapters just to get back to the sector 7 slums which could have been either one short chapter or just added to the end of chapter 9. Also, what the hell are you talking about with these completion times for chapters? 8-10 hours? No chapter in this game is that long. The main story is 50-55 hours, which equates to around 3 to 4 hours per chapter on average. if you're including all side quests and optional content you could maybe reach 6 hours for a chapter. you said 8 hours of filler for a chapter which is just complete horseshit and sounds like you pulled those numbers out of your ass. To be clear, you are entitled to your opinion. If you simply didn't like the game, fine. but at least be able to back it up reasonably, and don't contradict yourself by criticizing the game for flaws that also exist in remake yet you just seem to ignore them.

Chapter 10 was the train chapter right? Or the one In the sewers. Either way both were good. The journey through the sewers was a nice change of pace because just before you fought hellhouse and basically took over wall market. It was amazing. Then to start it you fight abzu and journey through whilst Tifa talks about how corneo could be telling the truth. Then you have the train graveyard which was fairly good because you were in a rush to get through and get to sector 7 because of the plate even more so when you realise it’s the truth AND THEN you fight shinra to stop the plate. It’s barely padding because it’s a really quick journey through the sewers and the train one leaves you at the edge of your seat because just like you the characters are trying to rush though and get out of there. Rebirth had more than just the cait sith dungeon bro. First off the entire ending with aerith running around In the temple took like 3-4 hours alone just because they kept switching and splitting up the party giving you different perspectives of what as you were playing as cloud or what happened as you were playing with aerith. It was soo long and boring. Another time for me where I just felt bored and wanted to sleep honestly was when you went to cosmo canyon and did that red 13 trial. The only thing that kept me awake in that entire chapter was his annoying ass voice. To defend what he said about chapters being like 8 hours long is impossible because that’s no where near true but it’s probably because most chapters have a whole map to “explore” and do a bunch of towers mini games and challenges for new materia which sums up to about 4 hours a chapter. A lot of people are gonna do this side content regardless if it’s optional because it’s jrpg the genre alone is expected to have side quests and be fetch quests or just bad open world quest design and they’ll do this because people are afraid they’ll miss out on stuff and guess what they do miss out on stuff like the plasma discharge ability which you could only get by doing combat trials with Chadley. The filler for rebirth is just as bad if not worse than remake man. The worst chapter in remake was the crate mini game with aerith where you need to pick up crates for her to get up to a platform. The second worst was the second hike though the sewers but that one is before an awesome chapter so it’s kinda forgettable

@@zaidebtw4438 Yes chapter 10 was the sewers and 11 was the train graveyard. 1 chapter would have been enough to build tension. Escape the sewers, and make a mad dash for sector 7. But no. Chapter 10 is whatever I guess, but chapter 11 is an absolute slog. They have this whole sideplot of fighting ghosts or something weird in the graveyard and it completely takes the focus off of the plate being dropped. The cait sith dungeon is the most prevalent example, that's why I mentioned specifically that one. It felt the most like Remake padding of any section in the game. The main issue I have with Remake vs Rebirth is that Remake was stretched way too thin. They took a 5 hour section of the OG and made it fucking 30 hours, vs Rebirth which took a 20 hour section (roughly) and made it 50 hours, which is a much more acceptable ratio given how much story content was covered. completely disagree with Rebirth having equal or more padding than remake. Remake the whole fucking game was padding. At least in Rebirth sections that are longer, such as the temple of the ancients as you mentioned, were already long in the OG especially on a first playthrough. My only real issue with that dungeon was having to hold triangle with Aerith every time to pick up green planet juice instead of it just picking up instantly. Now compare that to remake in the collapsed expressway. Its a section that in OG you run through in just a few mins at most, maybe run into some random encounters and whatever. In Remake its turned into a mini dungeon with a bunch of mediocre puzzles controlling the robot hands, and to be honest I dont remember how long it takes But i remember it taking too long. Another example is messing with all the sun lamps before heading to reactor 5, something you didn't even really do in the OG turned into an hour long dungeon, maybe longer. in Rebirth, long areas from OG become longer. But in Remake, sections that were basically non existent or just a couple mins become hours. The real issue here is that these two should not be separate games. Remake and Rebirth should have been one game just covering all of disc 1, with the fat being trimmed off of both games so that padding is non existent, and being left off with a perfect cliff hanger from Aeriths death for part 2 which would contain discs 2 and 3. The fact that they made a whole ass game off of midgar is criminal.
@zaidebtw4438
@zaidebtw4438 2 ай бұрын
@@Logan17258 I don’t really see the problem with midgar having it’s own game. The point was to expand on the story and make rebirth look even better with open world aspects compared to the claustrophobic streets of midgar. I feel like you massively understated the temple of the ancients and it’s length here. I haven’t played the og and probably never will since I prefer the combat of the remakes so idk if the game has the same length of the mission from the og because it’s still a slog to get through. The robot hand mini game in remake yes I admit was terrible but nothing compared to cait siths dungeon which still I don’t understand who approved this. 2 hours of roaming around as a cat picking up boxes is a crime in itself but you already know this. The temple of the ancients was such a slog to get though and lasts roughly 3-4 hours. I would rather take 30mins (or an hour if your just slow) of lifting crates to pick up a character then immediately proceeding to one of the best chapters in the game over 4 hours of me roaming a temple. Wasn’t the train graveyard in og too? Like I said I haven’t played it but it seems really random for something as crazy as a train graveyard to make its way into remake without having at least some influence from the og. Either way the ghosts really aren’t focused on that much. They make aerith sad and give her flashbacks of her childhood and remind tifa of Marlene which helps motivate the player to get to sector 7 to stop the plate drop. The lights out chapter with the sun lamps sure was bad I agree especially for a first play through where you get lost easily but it’s right next to the really good chapters of the game and does reward you with a summon materia and a few extra materials as well and only if your going for them does the chapter take long. I replayed on chapter select to see the pacing and compare it to rebirth and it was night and day because the longest it an example of padding can take is up around 30mins-an hour whereas in rebirth it’s just a joke and takes too long to get to the ending of the chapter, hell that’s probably why people didn’t like the ending of the game as much as square wanted them to because of the 4 hour dungeon, confusing ending and a boss fight with like 16 different phases. Somehow rebirth made boss fights have padding because all these fights did was just sour the ending fighting all these versions of sepiroth. As for the game being separated I don’t really know if I’m being honest. When I upgrade my setup I’m definitely going to replay both games and play rebirth the instant I beat remake to see if it’ll make me enjoy the game more and so I really see the differences between the two.
@Logan17258
@Logan17258 2 ай бұрын
@@zaidebtw4438 The difference between the temple of the ancients and something like the train graveyard is that the temple was good in OG, but you could somewhat tell it was held back by the tech of the time, something you could say for a lot of areas in the game. But i have never heard anyone say "I hope they expand the train graveyard". in the OG you just run through it in a few mins to get back to the slums. How long you are there really just depends on random encounters, its only about 2 screens long. Thats my whole issue with remake like I said in the last comment. Things that were so short became so long for no reason and kill the pacing. At least in Rebirth the longer areas were also long in the OG. I wouldn't even mind that much if the train graveyard was say 30 mins, instead of 2 hours or whatever it ended up being. As for how long the temple is in the OG, it's roughly 1.5 - 2 hours. The length can vary especially on a first playthrough since it's a maze. I also think you're not giving temple of the ancients in rebirth enough credit. There are several great boss fights, one with Reno and Rude, Elena and Tseng, the Red Dragon and Demons Gate all of which were pretty great. I also loved the opening fight with the onslaught of shinra soldiers to that amazing battle theme. The music in the temple was great. The boss music was all fantastic, especially the turks and demons gate. A good alternative version of "listen to the cries of the planet" and its battle edit variation are insanely good, and the eerie ambient music that plays near the end of the temple when you are getting fairly close to the black materia alter. The low points for me would just be pushing the big box things and picking up planet juice with aerith. But otherwise its exploration and combat which is the whole point of a game like this. Its also the games final dungeon so it makes since to be lengthy, and most of that length goes to good use I would say. Ill agree on the ending. the Jenova fight was great, everything after that was ridiculous over the top horseshit and far too long. It is one of the weakest parts of the game for me. I understand the game needs a final boss, but why not Jenova? it was already a pretty lengthy fight, it would have been enough. 25 sephiroth phases would be excessive even in the finale of part 3. My other issue with it is taking the focus off of Aeriths death too much. This is a case where less is more. Its supposed to be sad not over the top. Expanding a large dungeon from the OG? Go for it. But taking the biggest emotional gut punch in the game and making it a multiversal battle against sephiroth was nonsense. I would have been fine with midgar being its own game if it was shorter. From a gameplay perspective its good minus the padding, but the story is where it hurts the most. You dont even really have a main antagonist yet because the party knows next to nothing about sephiroth besides cloud and tifa, and even then its the characters that know, not the player because we dont get the nibelheim flashback till rebirth. The ending sucks because its crazy kingdom hearts nonsense (like rebirth) and you fight sephiroth as a final boss which will diminish his impact in later entries and feels weird since shinra has been your main opposition, not sephiroth. In the words of videogamedunkey, it is a 30 hour intro sequence.
@zaidebtw4438
@zaidebtw4438 2 ай бұрын
@@Logan17258 Remake being an intro sequence is accurate because I’d say it’s what they were trying to go for. Technically speaking it’d be impossible to honour the og on a ps4 so splitting it into three games was a logical decision in my book. Remake done it’s job for the og fans and the new ones wondering who tf is this golden haired demon with a sword the size of my house that keeps bodying me in smash bros. The ending is where the game being an intro is most apparent because you have questions about what’s going on and don’t know what’s happening next which I believe was the goal since if everyone knew aerith was just gonna die again then it would t hit the same but now people will be surprised about aerith dying and it’ll hit slot harder. This is why the games basically just an intro because it tries to separate itself from the og. Yeah I did kinda understate the temple so I’ll list the best parts of it. The boss fights were pretty good and the trials were awesome and more gut punching than the ending for me and a lot of others Im assuming……..Yup that’s it honestly. Writing this now I feel like there’s something I’m missing but all there is to it is just some boss fights and great story. I hated the time skipping that they do because it just makes it a slog to get through and doesn’t help keep the player engaged in what’s happening and pulls them out of the experience. You may be wondering “but if there wasn’t any time skipping then we wouldn’t know what the others were doing” well why do we need to know anyway? Seriously why? Did I need to know where Barrett was when he tried to save the robes in the mines? No and you didnt show it to me either in a stupid ass time skip. Midgar being it’s own game shouldn’t really be a problem since it is a remake and yes I understand that players aren’t gonna know who Zack is or who tf sephiroth is but I believe this is why they released crisis core reunion after. I personally don’t feel like I need to know everything about sephiroth besides the fact that cloud looks up to him, kills aerith and is insane but that’s just me anyway and I’m seriously asking this here. Are the players at this point supposed to know who sephiroth is? Did anyone know who he was in the og like at all? Because if that’s true then it shouldn’t matter since it’s following the same format as the og so being mad about it not being faithful to the og doesn’t really make any sense, and I believe the og is the problem here. The game is a remake and until it’s finished we will come up with theories as to where the og factors into this games story and see what sephiroth actually knows and how he found out about the multiverse and well everything really. Btw I fully expect square Enix to make a prequel to the remakes if a lot has changed or at least give us a prequel to sephiroths story in the remake format. Maybe even remake crisis core instead of just making it a remaster and fully faithful to the og crisis core which I think it is but I could be wrong since I haven’t played it.

They should disagree with what you have to say based on the knowledge you presented in the video and not on how long you've been following the franchise

I haven't been in Sony's ecosystem since the PS2, but I was gifted a PS3 and PS4. List PS5 exclusives that arent already on/coming to PC. @Danny-v3s "i am not sure why you think that the ps5 is only worth it if it has "CONSOLE EXCLUSIVE" games " I'll sum it up for you, since this doesn't have anything to do with PC or whatever being better than something else. If I have something that can already play these games, why would I buy another device to do what this already does? Why would I spend $500 on a deluxe toaster with ultramax settings and Skyrim support when I already have a toaster? PS5 isn't popular because it shares most of its library with other consoles and PC. The exclusives are the main reason to go out of my way to buy said console, but since they came to others that I already have ,what sense would it make to buy that? When talking about chip shortages and being released around a pandemic with next to no games people are interested in, it really doesn't help sales when they can just play most of the games on the PS4 they already bought. Wake up.

I disagree with 90% of what you say, starting with the video title. In my opinion, Rebirth is much better than Remake. Remake has a lot of filler content, both in the main story and the side quests. For example, quests like finding cats or kids, the repetitive “box moving” minigame with Aerith that appears three times in 30 minutes, and the “collecting filters” task at the very start of the game. This isn’t even mentioning the worst parts, like Hojo’s laboratory or the second reactor, which are just long, boring, and repetitive. But what surprises me the most is your claim that Remake’s ending is better than Rebirth’s. In what world is a time portal appearing out of nowhere and fighting a bunch of ghosts or “whispers” (which seem directly borrowed from Kingdom Hearts) a better ending than Rebirth’s? Rebirth features Aerith, one of the best boss fights in a JRPG with the four-phase Jenova battle, followed by Zack and Cloud vs. Sephiroth. At the end, the “filler” content in rebirth is completely optional and you can rush the history . I’m completing the game in hard mode and 12 hours in I’m in chapter 9 already. And I’m not skipping cutscenes I understand that’s your opinion, but it’s really hard for me to take that seriously.
