Sorry but Romania is really poor looking , all the cities look in desperate need of modernisation. It will be a very long time before it reaches west European standards.
@RuxandraCusen-z6t6 ай бұрын
I’m not sure what your purpose is with this post but let me just tell you that even if you are right, that’s just not nice! Romania and Romanian people have been through a lot and they are doing the best they can to move forward. I am guessing you can’t see that because of your privilege. Western Europe has not had to recover from a horrible dictatorship. If my country is not good enough for your entitled expectations, you don’t need to ever go there. For the future, I would advise you keep to the very wise advice that is, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all!

@@neilbrooks5099 I mean, they are mainly showing the "old town" parts of different cities or some rural areas, so I don't know where you drew that conclusion from, as we don't see too much of how actual cities look like, but ok. Also, what you probably don't realise is that many of those cities literally CANNOT get "modernised" because they have been placed on the UNESCO world heritage list due to their well preserved medieval shape. And sure, Romania is not as wealthy as many western countries (yet), but it's definitely not as poor as you'd like to think (I mean it's one of the larger economies of the EU in terms of the PPP adjusted GDP) and, given its challenging past, it's doing quite well, I believe. And I say it as a non-Romanian (who leaves on a week-long trip to Romania in less than 24 hours 😁 ).

Nice experience ! :-) Bucharest at the first glance is not too appealing, but most of Bucharest's beauties are hidden, and quite away from the city center. You really need a local to guide you through what's worth seeing in Bucharest. It's the same case with many gorgeous places that are not mainstream. For example, very close to the Bran Castle there are some villages about 30-40minutes away that would have offered you views to some incredible mountain landscapes. Anyway, that's for when you come back. :-)

Sarmale is end dish to every wedding. There are all kind of ways to make sarmale, we can fill and red/yellow bell pepper, then there is sarmale in vine leaves, then there is Sarmale with Ciolan which is cook within a bone with meat ;)). There are different regions recipes for most of the traditional food, is always intresting to explore, but what's cool at Romania, is that most of the food serve into restaurants and hotels/guest houses is actually cook with ingredients fresh and not an experience to miss, and everything is made to be tasty.
@ares34702 жыл бұрын
We have a little more dishes people know and have try, but in general we cook a lot around pig: pork fat pieces, pig tail/ear/skin, and there ofc is sausages made traditional way, a sausage made from the pig organs with rice, chopped onions and garlic. They genuinly go with polenta cook. There is smoked ham, but we do smoke whole the pig leg and salt it. We also smoke conserve sausages and we smoke conserve the fat pig with garlic. Yogurts and sour cream is also quit natural and very good, we have also a kind of liquid yogurt called Kefir, every Romanian which goes outside can't find this there xD and they all miss it when they get back home, because they remember it since they were kids ;)) { maybe not for everyone as kefir is kind of more sour taste}. We have traditions usually around 1 st March, we use to gift such items to girls for luck and to wish them wealth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C4%83r%C8%9Bi%C8%99or By 8 march we also use to give flowers to women collegs school/university/work, some police officers even stop womens to give them flowers as is mothers and womens day mark by like, and kids in general doing lot's of cards with origami flowers and even sing to their moms and are doing poetry. Around Easter time, we have traditions within coloured eggs natural paint or with bought paints in shops, but we kind of know to use herbs and colour eggs with them and we also use leaves to make patterns on the eggs, and we have kind of a war within knocking coloured boiled eggs, is a war of the most strongest egg to win ;)).

Thanks so much for the kind words and for sending even more recs! We can't wait to be back in Romania and see more. We fell in love ❤️ Ahhh that's such a hard question!! We really liked Brasov and Sighisoara, but also had a great time in Cluj! And for the experience of something new, we LOVED Brasov and Baraolt... but honestly we would go back to any of the places we visited hahaha what a terrible answer 😂 sorry!

Thank you for visiting and showing Romania to the world, you're doing an awesome job! Here are some more places you can visit next time you visit Romania: -Alba Iulia where you can visit Alba Carolina Citadel; it's one of the biggest citadels in Europe. It's located 2 hours south of Cluj Napoca. From there you can visit Transalpina (it's similar to Transfagarasanu and it's the highest road in Romania). On your way to the top of Transalpina road, going south from Alba Iulia; there is Oasa Lake (Lacul Oasa) . It's one of my favorite places in Romania , if it's summer you can spend the night at the lake (in the winter it's really cold) and you have places where you can camp at the lake and enjoy the beautiful view. From the lake you have one more hour to the top of Transalpina, where you will find a smal market with souvenirs and traditional Romanian food. Very important! Make sure you you check if the road is open for public use; because in the winter and spring it's closed due to severe weather! From the top you can continue your trip southwest to Targu Jiu where you can visit The Table of Silence, The Gate to the Kiss and The Endless Column of Constantin Brancusi ( famous Romanian Sculptor). From Targu Jiu you can continue your trip southwest to Danube river at the border with Serbia, where you will find the biggest sculpture in Europe, the face of Decebal (fata lui Decebal) and you can take a boat ride to see the Danube's Big Boilers (Cazanele Dunarii). In that area you can also visit Bigar Waterfall (Cascada Bigar) witch is also known as the miracle from the Minis Canyon. It's one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Europe. Not too far away (1 hour) there is this small beautiful town called Herculane Hot Springs/Herculane Baths (Baile Herculane). The Springs were discovered by the Romans around 153AD. The city has a lot of historical monuments and buildings from when Austro- Hungary ruled over a part of Romania. Going a couple of kilometres up the mountain , on Cerna river banks ;there is a place called 7 Springs (7 Izvoare) where you can take a bath in the miracle hot springs. People all over the world come to get healed and to enjoy the hot thermal water. There is a camping area and also small wood houses for rent; the air is so clean and the view is breathtaking. There are many beautiful places in Romania and those are a couple of them. I hope you come back soon to visit them and keep up the good work :)

Thanks so much! Thanks for taking the time to write this. It means the world to us. Not only because it helps other people visiting Romania but because we can plan our next adventure lol (we have so much love for your country!) ❤️. So many great places yet to discover! Out of all of these, we did visit Alba Iulia :) It was a quick stop during one of our drives :) Adding everything else to a file we already have with all the local recs hahaha can't wait for our next visit!

I would also recommend my lovely homecity, the city called Iasi, the former/temporary capital of Romania ( i'm not biased, there are things to visit). It would also be a nice location to visit if you're heading into the moldavian region of Romania.

Your "Romanian" videos are amazing and flattering. Thank you for such beautiful feelings! If you intend to return here for new adventures and wonderful discoveries, there are so many places where nature, history, culture and people, not to mention the culinary delights, can make you even more Romanian than you already are, you are both so beautiful and cleverly integrated into the Romanian universe. I live in Prahova district, in the south of the country and if you are nature and mountain lovers I recommend a Carpathian mountain route including Prahova Valley, from Posada (for the little "Cinegetic"/Hunting Museum), Sinaia, Busteni (via Azuga, Predeal and Poiana Brasov as further destinations of skiing during the winter) but climbing from Busteni in summer or autumn to the spectacular heights of the Bucegi mountains, to the alpine pastures, the Caraiman Heroes' Cross, "Babele" and the "Sphinx" carved by the wind, then to Bolboci lake and even further, if you like caves and waterfalls... From the aristocratic luxury of Sinaia and Peles Castle, which you have already visited, to a night spent at a rustic inn next to a sheep pen, or a wooden cabin on the paths of bears, there are only a few hours of wonder. You are so welcome in both environments, that you can choose one of them... or both.
