I want to fly in the sky, but I am very poor. I have a hedge trimmer, a ceiling fan and some garden twine. How many bedsheets will I need?

Land four $2500 hedge trimming jobs, use the twine to make sure you cut straight, the bedsheets will help clean the debris and use the ceiling fan to cool the sweat of your brow...

Woody, Thank you for this video!! Really appreciate the candidness and the information. Your right nothing is free nor cheap to do pretty much any sport out there today.. but i am patient! Been wanting to fly since i was 28yrs old lol. but family and life kicked in..kids.. etc. So my dream had to be put on hold.. now here i am 41yrs old, kids all grown up and i said to myself.. its time... Since last year I have been saving my money little by little every paycheck, so far i got 4 grand saved up. By fall of next year i should hopefully meet my goal and set for training. Oh.. also i was a heavy boy, at 296 lbs beginning of this year .. yeah way too big for foot launch. so you know what?.. i took care of that too! i started to exercising and changing my diet, now I'm down to 255lbs and still going.. Its just a matter of how dedicated you are to making it happen. This has been a lifelong dream of mines, and remember.. only you can make your dreams happen.

If you ever record another one of these, please discuss the tethers and linkup gear. From someone looking to get into PPG, I have a hard time mentally overcoming how thin those lines are, those carabiners, and where they connect to your lawn chair. I could trust that gear flying straight and safe, but when you guys start whipping into the acro, I know your combined weight multiplies which I know adds more stress on your gear.

Hey Woody, really enjoyed the video. Funny enough I listened to it on the way to PPG training tonight and on the way back. Anyway, you asked for questions so here is mine. How long did it take for you to get comfortable in the air? I remember when you started you said you were terrified every flight but I never picked up on when that eased up. So far I’ve done four flights and they’ve all gone great. I haven’t botched a launch or landing (yet) but I’m still very nervous in the air. Every little bump, rock and oscillation freaks me out. Seasoned pilots make this sport look so graceful and easy.

Man, I was frightened on "an olympic level". lol For me I just needed time in the air so that I could trust my equipment, my lines, my wing, etc. Somewhere around 10-15 hours I was at ease with the altitude but my bump tolerance kept improving and still does. At this point there is almost nothing that happens in my mild part of the country that scares me. However, I'm told that if I went out west I'd deal with bigger air than I've seen before. Airtime is the cure for being terrified every flight.

Paramotor weight consideration - there typically are various configurations of each brand of paramotor which affect the total stated weight (frame material, hoop size, clutch, prop type, electric start, pull start, dual start, harness, etc.) All of these have pros and cons. Adding full fuel tank to any paramotor adds roughly 18-20 lbs. A reserve parachute can add 4-5 lbs, and so on. Light is light, but are all variants strong? - will the material hold up to a beginner bouncing it off the ground? How about repairs? There is so much to think about when choosing a paramotor package as you elude too, however I think you missed the opportunity to speak to some of the challenges folks could face. Everything is a compromise and in my opinion there is no one machine that checks "every single box".Fly safe bro - peace

Great video Woody. Very informative. Thanks very much. It was interesting to watch the weather development in the morning. Those cloud streets were sick. As to the bumpiness, back when Hector was a pup and I was a student pilot, I once had the wind knocked out of me going from sink to a thermal in a Piper Cherokee. It would be interesting to hear some about the reserve you use and how you route the bridles, and your thoughts on reserves in general. Is there any update on 'your friend Ross' that you feel comfortable sharing. Hope to see you in the air someday. Thanks and fly safe

Weather? Lightning? Hail? Ever get shot at? All of that must happen? Can you/do you have a parachute at the ready in case the wing folds? Thanks Oh, what state are you in and what kinda work do you do? Sick house and land. If only.

YOu can also go 1 hour south of San Diego in La Salina...Baja.. for PPG training on the beach and big sand dunes. I did and it's a blast! Take off and landings and foot drags on miles of open beaches all day every day! PG and PPG training both!

When I got into motorcycles, it was a passion for me and I would put 15,000 miles a year on a bike. I still have plans to ride to Alaska, but the bike I bought for that trip had already been sitting in my garage for 6 years, and most of the 6,000 miles I have on it came from 1 trip. I think learning to fly is the next passion...

Great video with lots of questions & answers. Watched many videos on you tube and it looks like something I would like to do. I have flown fixed wing and this seems to be a bit more relaxed. I have aviator PPG about 1 hour from here and will go out and investigate further. You are right … self instruction is not the way to learn. Regarding Tucker Gott .. what can you say the guy is amazing and fun to watch ! Blue Sky's and stay safe

Awesome video! Indeed, Tucker Gott interested me in this type of flight. Even so, I'm more interested in nice smooth aviation - no crazy stuff for me. Thanks for all the advice!
