Since childhood I always felt there was something special about a man training and lifting heavy and irregular things in nature, without any talk nor company, just him subjecting himself to the elements, letting himself be defied by nature, trying to be more than a man, to be One with Nature - Raw and Truth. At 37 years old I now know that what men like me really want, is to be liberated from his own Ego (desires, judgements and fears) by subjecting and submitting himself fully to a thing greater than his own self, to purify himself from the superficial artificiality that divides and keep each of us away from the Oneness of True Existence - Eternal merging of Man and What IS (beyond the limited self). Its a self-purging path, the Anvil of the Finest and Shiniest Sword.

Good video bro. A great exercise for strengthening the wrists and fingers are plate curls. Pinch grip a plate with your fingers on the flat side and thumb on the other, and curl it like a dumbbell while trying to avoid wrist extension. Another good one would be thumbless thick bar lifts with say a dumbbell with the blue or orange fatgripz, or a rolling thunder or FBBC crusher with 2.5”-3” handles. I think those would mimic lifting a sandbag pretty well since the handles will want to roll out of your hand, so you have to use wrist and fingers to fight that, similar to a heavy sandbag that wants to roll out of your false grip sometimes from a dead stop or from trying to get it up to your shoulders. Armwrestlers like a lot of thick bar work to strengthen their wrist flexors in a cupping position since it mimics an opponents hands pretty well. Armwrestlers probably have some the strongest wrists and fingers in the world in a flexion position.

I said I will come back with some update about my experience with sandbag so here we go. After 8h every day in factory I just cant train and eat like normal person (3 shits) so I decided to train in every friday after work and 1 day of weekend. My plan looks like this every month: 1,3 -> 2,3 -> 1,3 -> 2,3 Training 1: 4 series - max pullups 2 series - max australian pullups 2 series - sandbag 30kg to shoulder - 10 reps (5 each shoulder) 2 series - max time sandbag 30kg bear carry Training 2: 4 series - max dips 4 series - max deep pushups with parallettes 4 series - max pushups with elevated feet Training 3: 2 series - squat without weights - 20 reps 4 series - squat with 25kg - 7 reps 3 series - max toe raises And I ordered a new sandbag (60kg) and I was sure i cant lift it but i just did it without much struggle so I see progress in my mind and strengh, so far thats a really unexpected. Also my body just stretched like that and I can touch my toes with fingers when before training I was able only to reach knees so god damn, Im hyped and grateful to you for sharing knowledge. But on the other side i can do atg split squats on the ground and jump 3 meters forward from a deadstop so i can generate a lot of power but im not good at squats at all. How will this limit my log lifting? i will start with log lifting 1-2 a week and for the rest for legs i do conditioning like sprinting some lunges and lots of high volume kicking jump rope and sometimes running also some other things but those not as much. Will these exercises help with log lifting or not at all? Also the exercises i will first focus on at the start are log to shoulder bear, hug carries, zercher squats and lastly some rows. As these are movements that are the farthest away from how i train now so i will have the move benefits from it. Will my prior weighted calisthenics(last two months very low reps and high weight so i have been straining my body with heavy weight) and leg conditioning help with log lifting

Ive just started doing weighted carries monday Wednesday friday. How would you incorporate 3 cardio days in there? Would you do cardio on Tuesday, Thursday Saturday or would you do cardio on the same days but just do cardio on the mornings and weighted carries in the afternoon. I'm thinking the same day would be better because then i will have a good 40 hours rest between workouts and the complete weekend to rest. Any thoughts would be appreciated. My cardio will be sprinting with jumping rope to warm up. Great video as always 👍🏻
@thestonecircle5 ай бұрын
Hey glad you liked it! It depends on what your goals are, do you care more about the sprinting or the sandbags? I would consider sprinting more of a strength training exercise than cardio. Assuming you warm up well before every workout, you might try doing your sprints first, then your carries, and end with the jump rope for cardio. Usually it's best to put the most explosive/power movements first in a workout. You could split it up into two different sessions throughout the day, but you could put them together too if you have the time. You are right about the recovery, I wouldn't do sandbags mon weds Fri and sprinting Tues Thurs Sat, keeping them on the same day is a good idea. If you don't care as much about being the fastest sprinter ever you could also do your carries first, then sprints, then jump rope, whichever you prefer really!

Hey I'm glad you decided to get into sandbag lifting! This video goes over a warmup I do, kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXfMnomJr86laKssi=2HPE88sSkHd9Vpu3 A lot of it does come down to feel, but you can use the bear hug carry as a guide if you want! If you can go nonstop for a full 90 seconds you can probably add 20 lbs and work up from there!

Me: *gets excited to start working out again, inspired by videos such as these* My lower back: "Lol, f*ck you. Sciatica time!" Trying to strengthen your core and lower back when just about everything injures your lower back is starting to get frustrating.

Hey thank you! That's actually a really big fail on my part, considering the first thing I usually recommend to anyone new to sandbag lifting is learning the valsalva maneuver haha. Thanks for catching that!

Great content as usual. Alternative to expensive sandbags? Shitty ones wrapped in duct tape, and then wrapped in something more sticky. That's how a lot of broke Marines I knew trained. Don't need expensive stuff to get heavy.

Can this community give me some advice please? I have been letting myself get lost and now im overweight and trying to get stronger. I made a 50# bag yesterday, and can do overhead presses with ease. My question is should I go heavier or spend time with this weight? I’m 230 lbs, work in a factory so I’m lugging around a tool bag most of the day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
@thestonecircle5 ай бұрын
Hey props for deciding to make a change! if you can do 50 overhead with ease you should be able to jump up to 100 at least

Sounds good! I’ll make another one tomorrow. Thank you for the help!

Me who always skips abs, glute, hamstring and bicep isolation training whilst watching this: 🙃🤐💀☠ Having said that, direct work might not be needed. I do literally the same movements as the footage you showed from unknown strongman and that has been working just fine. I'm sticking to no gym, no olympic lifting or goodmornings... Just bare-bones stuff: weighted calisthenics, sets and reps and sandbags, stones and other heavy akward objects. That's it. P.S: I feel like neutral pull ups are the easiest pull up variation for me right now, and I can do 25+ normal pull ups... Coincidende? I don't think so!
@thestonecircle5 ай бұрын
haha :D yeah you're right there. I just kinda dove in myself and the sandbag/stones fixed all the weak points on their own. I just know if anyone is like I was, the idea of getting prepared with the gym training they're already doing is exciting :) Awesome about the pullups! I think neutral is my strongest for sure too
