Not only does decreasing time build muscle, but it also builds conditioning, work capacity, and is the magic fat burning bullet. It can be done w/ straight sets?
@joeldoxtator98046 сағат бұрын
Exercising exclusively to build muscle is a profound waste of time. The body is not a muscle farm, it is a biological entity specifically engineered to maximize movement through 3D space. The closer you come to emulating moving through 3D space, the less your time is being wasted. I have never felt more fulfilled than when training in multiple martial arts disciplines. The difference between lifting and striking is so vast that lifting alone cannot prepare you for movement in the striking planes of motion. Striking is all type 2B muscle fiber work and in planes of motion that are just not hit with lifting. Striking actually makes you stronger hitting nothing but air. It is like whole body sprinting.

I'm depressed as fuck have been for a while, don't know why I didn't pull the trigger yet though but I've been going to the Gym in a serious manner for a while, and found two benefits from it first is that people will not really complain I take 1 to 2 hours of my day in the gym because I'm doing "something good" second is that due to being so fucking tired after coming back from it, I can't really think about unsubbing from life, first because mental energy is low, then the body aches, then I just want to eat a dozen eggs or so then I walk the dog then I get some work done and then I get to sleep and the cycle starts anew turns out I just needed to be too tired and half the issues solve themselves because who has the energy to be negative when you're already punishing yourself enough every day of the week

Exercise or working out has helped me with my mental problems. I started working out in the year of 2021 (I was 18 back then) and I have made a great amount of progess for my physique. Anime was one of the main insparation for me to start working out, characters like Vegeta, Saitama and Rock Lee definetely motivates me into fitness. I love working out as it helps me to make me feel better about myself. For the first time in my life I actually feel better or good when doing something. Exercise has helped me change the way i eat (my diet is not as clean as Hollywood's rice, chicken and brocoli but is far more better than the things I consume before I started my fitness journey) and helped me improve my quality of life by having a good and healthy body. Exercise is not a waste of time. If it was then it's like saying studying for an exam or test is a waste of time, working to get money is a waste of time, sleeping in order to rest your body is a waste of time, spending time with your family is a waste of time, travelling is a waste of time and so on. I think it like this, having a good and healty body is valuable but in order to get that you have to put in the time and effort to do it because it will not come overnight. Same goes with everything in life, if something that is so valuable and if you want or need it, you have to put in the time and effort in order to get it. And if you are thiriving for something valuable, then it is not a waste of time. I don't know if what I just wrote down made sense or not but this is coming from a 21 year old Malaysian guy. Love your videos Cody and i actually use your calisthenics circuit method and it works for me. My pull up is getting better because of the calisthenic circuit and so as my physique. 🔥❤💪

I really enjoy lifting weights and using weight machines...I don't find weight lifting boring...but by Crom I find boxing/kick-boxing extremely boring...I only continue to practice it on a heavy bag and a floor to ceiling bag once a week for an hour or so because that's all I can tolerate and one must keep one's skills up and all that...but I lift weights and use suspension straps pretty much every day...being more interested in useful strength and fitness than a six-pack. In order to get a six pack I'd have to stop eating bread and pasta and ice cream and all that good stuff...no thanks, I'll just be satisfied with dead-lifting double my body weight.

Such a simple theory but put into practice these circuits really do build muscle. And the the mental battle that takes place just to complete them,let alone complete them in a faster time is immense. Add in the strength endurance and circuits are a game changer!

People like different kinds of sports, and like that some people also like exercise. For me it is the same. I like doing different kinds of exercise, at least me it also helped in just feeling better, getting a better health and eating a lot more healthy. I guess the combination is what some people maybe miss. When you try to be good at running, calesthincs and so on, or trying to build muscle etc. you also start to change your eating behaviour as it becomes hard doing exercise when you eat like shit. At least me in the past 5 years i got down from 120kg to 80kg and feel great about it. There are also a lot of typical exercises you can do for a sport that when you do the sport maybe have fun doing. Any kind of sports usually cannot be done completely alone, but it is different for exercise. You always can do exercise alone whenever you feel without waiting for someone else. And for me acquiring skills in Calesthincs, Wandering, jogging or just doing shadown boxing, punching against something is all alone, and still exercise that I enjoy. It's also a good way of settings goals and you feel nice achiving them. Some years ago i couldn't even do a single pull-up anymore, i could not even hold my bodyweight for 3 seconds. Today i can do 3-5 cleanly pull-ups depending on how much i am regenerated. But being able todo my first pull-up after a half year of training or so was a great achivement that i feelt proud about. In this summer i also achived a breakthrough in jogging. I always did sprinting, stopping, then some jogging as i couldn't do it for a long time. After pushing me with sprinting/stopping and so on i was able to achieve at some point to run for a full hour and got into those runner flow. Was a great achievement. As i think it was for my first time in my life as i never did jogging before. I mean yeah, if someone doesn't like exercise and just wanna do BJJ that is fine. But saying that exercise is a waste of time just because someone himself doesn't like it is very shortsighted.

Tonight on @MattVena 's channel, just now, he has a community poll asking about Deadlift grips, and in the pinned comment he makes a joke about a "no grip" Deadlift. One other commenter and I got into a discussion about what "no grip" deadlifts would be and that led us to the idea of goodmornings performed from the bottom up,off of blocks. I named them "Deadmornings". That discussion is very interesting if you or anyone cares to check it out. Anyway.... That discussion led me to searching for "Deadmornings" and I found nothing like what I was thinking of, but I did find this exercise with a band which I had never seen. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4XFZYqtpdl1qrcsi=gm6Jpw9_GWuUnMdB I remember in a video long ago you performing a sort of banded jump, and you have featured banded Goodmornings many times, but have you ever seen this? Its funny that you're saying bodybuilding is shallow, but sandbag lifting and power lifting are very similar to bodybuilding because the end result of those sports are very similar to body building. Kung fu, hiking, or boxing, on the other hand, lead to smaller but more functional physiques.
@thestonecircleКүн бұрын
Hey you must be new here. My name's Cody, nice to meet you. I understand why you would project that onto this video considering how many functional guys out there say stupid things like 'bodybuilding is shallow', but I don't go in for that. I have never and will never say bodybuilding is shallow. IMO it's just as valid as anything else. I actually made the point multiple times in this video to say that bodybuilding is cool too if that's what you like. I also don't believe any of those things you listed make for a more functional person than powerlifting or sandbag lifting. Functional for what? This was a video about finding joy in training, not an attempt at saying anything is bad, or that anything is better than anything else.

Hey man, quick question: Since I started working out with sandbags and doing calisthenics, I've been getting intense muscle soreness, which is holding me back from working out as often as I want. How did you deal with this? Did you push through it or lower the intensity?
@thestonecircleКүн бұрын
Hey the easiest way would be to just lower training frequency for each thing to once or twice a week and add some active recovery work on the other days, and after a few weeks you should adapt. Or you might consider doing shorter workouts with a higher frequency for the calisthenics. I'd still keep the sandbag lifting to once or twice a week, but doing 3 or 4 calisthenics circuit days in the 10-20 minute range rather than 2 days in the 20-40 minute range should get you conditioned to it pretty fast!
