Julian Sloop Haven't watched much on Defranco, I'll check him out though. Of course that was just a roundup of 3 of the main ones. Steven Crowder, Gavin McInnes, Stefan Molyneux... whether we are fans of those specific people or not, they did help to pull some young minds away from the left. Ben has to be my favorite though because he's damn near impossible to corner.
@julians72687 жыл бұрын
Kyle Switzer - Oh WOW how did I forget Crowder, Gavin and Rebel Media in general! Yea Defranco is not as politically minded and can sometimes lean quite left but he is never disrespectful and always provides sound reasoning for his position. He also encourages people to express their opinions especially if they differ from his own. Now, I have not watched much of Stephen Molyneux. I have seen him in a few interviews with people like Dr. Peterson but he seems like he is a little nutty to me... I could be way off there. Please tell me if I am.

I absolutely love you boys. I listen to you often. You are precious, and I pray that you will grow in the goodness and knowledge of God. As for believing, Spinoza (my favorite philosopher) said that it is innate in man to believe in a God. (Yes, that excommunicated Jew, called atheistic, and a heretic, that lived like a Christian --Will Durant) saw the sign, but the dear man had a very 'wide' view of what he thought about God.) I do not claim to understand all that Spinoza left for us, but I had a reaction to The Preface in his Political Treatise. I was so at odds with portions of the ones who called themselves Christian, and with organized religion in general. His words were instrumental in the healing of some remaining wounds. I regained some of my self expression, and began to challenge all signs or declarations of 'holiness. Gosh, I was amazed at how many folks agreed with me. I have always believed in God, and he has never forsaken me. I have been greatly blessed, and have learned so much. I believed as a little child that I "came" here, and would be leaving; and to my knowledge no one told me this.. I was seven before I was aware of Jesus, and eight when I accepted Christ. I think I have always known that Father/God is. But you are welcome to doubt this claim I make. I am not given to vain imagination. I do not look for signs and wonders, and I question things. I try to understand how I know that God is. I would call it awareness. Nothing spooky, just confidence and reason. How could God not be. I believe the devil has the world, but God has those who believe. Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world." I do not expect much from this world in the way of fairness. My childhood was a maze of highways and temporary dwelling. I will likely not be here much longer. God bless all you beautiful souls. You add a lot to my world right now. I am a forever student, trying to make up for all I the school I missed. My hearts desire has always been to learn. It still is, and to be in the center of God's will. Stay safe.

I love Ben's answer to that stupid "spirit animal" question. I was in a group where we were obliged to "go around the circle" and answer that question, and my response was exactly verbatim (body language and inflection, too) the same answer as Ben's. The entire group of like 30+ suddenly went from jovial to serious, and briefly turned into some goddamned intervention where, somehow, I was the utter psychopath who would then immediately get barred from the group.

The question of why God allows suffering is a fair and logical one, and through Job's example we know that he didn't scold him for asking this question nor did he simply tell him to have more faith. He gives us the answer to this question in Ecclesiastes 7:29 "This alone I have found: The true God made mankind upright, but they have sought out many schemes." & Ecclesiastes 8:9 "All of this I have seen, and I applied my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, during the time that man has dominated man to his harm." Essentially, he's allowing rebellion against his sovereignty to show that no effort to rule without him benefits people, and this of course was necessary to do after Adam & Eve rejected God by sinning against him.

Andrew Lunsford and Sam Harris is correct. The laws of nature govern our brains and we live in a cause effect universe.
@Moviefan2k47 жыл бұрын
Which is self-defeating, since he has to choose that position through use of his own free will. Every voluntary action made by an individual is born from choice, which links directly to free will. Unless his mother was raped, then Sam Harris' existence is the result of consensual sex...a mutual exercise of free will.
@mzk14897 жыл бұрын
The problem, of course, is that our entire legal system is based on it. That is why there is an insanity defense. What I don't understand is, if someone believes we are all unthinking chemical computers, why does he try to convince another unthinking chemical computer that he is right? Why do anything at all?
@andrewlunsford25317 жыл бұрын
mzk1 read his book on free will, super short easy read.
@karateofcomedy11657 жыл бұрын
mzk1 The absence of free-will doesn't change the process of persuasion... it simply changes the concept. Most people would say, "I heard this, therefore, I decided to do that" When in reality, the more accurate representation is: "I heard this, and that introduced a new set of influences to my process of decision. Regardless of the information given to me, I base my actions on what appears to be true, and this new information changed my model for truth and therefore had an effect on my own decisions and beliefs." It actually makes perfect sense. If your Mom is fucking the mail-man, you can ignore it and think it's not true... but the moment you see your mom fucking the mail-man... you no longer have the "freedom" to disbelieve. It's all about the standards we put on accepting certain truths. They vary, but if something can be demonstrated fully, persuasion is inevitable.

Also, "Your canon is a lot longer than ours." Well he is a Catholic. 😀 Just a bad joke from a Baptist brother. It could be worse. You could be a Buddhist or a Hindu. Have you ever read through the Tripitaka or Upanishads? My house isn't big enough for the book shelves. Any of the above is far easier to get through than the Book of Mormon, though. I would rather read the Salt Lake city phone directory five times in a row. (I figured if I was going to make some people mad, I might as well make everyone mad)

Some of us actually like Michael's podcast. Shapiro is king, but it's not a bad podcast, especially when Roaming Millenial is on the panel.

Roaming does a pretty job on her channel/website. She's had some impressive and controversial guests, I'd say she's dying to get Ben on.
