@@bananabot151 They said "art classes" which makes me think they're a college student. We were expected to use Prismacolor or a similar high grade colored pencil in my theatre design classes as well as art classes in college. "The quality of your tools matters!" was the refrain echoed across departments, and they're right. We were incredibly lucky to have a bookstore in town that sold at Dick Blick (or better) pricing. They had the BEST selection in a 2 hour driving radius and they had the same kits from the university bookstore that were required for classes at usually 20% off. More than once I bought a kit class I wasn't taking for a better price on packs of multiple drawing/ painting pads, insisting I was taking it the next semester, because they only put together the maximum number of seats. But, there was always huge drop rates in the first 2 weeks, so you could get away with it easier then.

Pro tip, use medium to thick vellum or smooth paper and/or use odorless mineral spirits or alcohol and a brush to blend. You won’t have to press hard because the paper isn’t textured, which allows for more detail and doesn’t require as much sharpening. There are special products to apply archival white or you could preserved highlights by leaving it blank or using an exact knife to carefully scrape off pencil layers and use an opaque white like Derwent Drawings Chinese White (oil based pencils tend to be on the translucent side, so they can’t cover other pigments that well and take a lot of layers).
