sometimes when i ink, The lines vary by the "thickness" of the object. For example, when you cut a piece of leather vs cutting locks of hair, i would think that cutting hair would be easier.. so I would draw the hair with lighter lines

When I was younger & was heavily into drawing, I used to only draw in pen because I liked the drama you could add w/ the black lines. Naturally, that meant I was attracted to the aesthetic of comics. But now that I'm twice that age & finally getting back into art again after so long, I can appreciate the need to sketch out in pencil first & am REALLY LOVING that there are awesome waterproof ink options that are more easily accessible! That way, I don't have to deal w/ my markers or paint smudging up my pen strokes & feel limited to b&w. 💕

The sign of an expert at a subject is them being able to condense the info in a short amount of time, to convey the info in a way everyone in a room can understand. Its what my 9th grade us history teacher told me. He told us that by the end of each class, we'll be able to explain the lesson in 30-60 seconds, making us as close to experts as we can get on the subject within an hour.

But BOY did I need this today. I JUST started my first brush pen lined watercolor of the sideview of a lumbar-sacral (and part of the coccyx but I went off the page at the bottom, the sketch was way harder than I expected being anatomically correct so I over shot my border). I did manage to get the outline ink done and even mixed my own colors to make a light greyish-yellow color for the bones and with basically zero experience I used a wet on wet approach because I didn't want to go outside the lines. Now that it's tomorrow and it's been dry and has flattened out in my little Etchr sketchbook (I found the greatest size ever for this laying around and realized it was Etchr from the rooster on the back). Very excited, I love the book. Thus short video gave me some help in understanding how to shade, although the shading is very delicate so I'm nervous I may need to do more layers of watercolor. I have feared the paintbrush for a couple of years and am trying so hard to just push through being absolutely stuck. I love how the spine came out and an not sure what I'll do with it or if I'll just leave it with no embellishments. But for today, I have work to do. I say the hard part is over but I feel it's just begun. I know how to draw. I don't know how to paint, definitely not. And after ALL the videos I have watched you'd think it would be a breeze understanding where and how to add shading. I also was born with no (zero) depth perception so I only see things 2D, or maybe 2¼D since my brain compensates by using shadows and size. But this helped... I think. I guess we'll see. Tthank you as always and thank you to anyone considerate enough to read my procrastinating long winded novel I wrote here, you're a champ. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated to my flat, but perfectly colored (color mixing was a success) little painting.
