As great as the pDrive clutch is, it's not maintenance free. For anyone to say that is unrealistic. The rollers need grease to survive.

Sorry but i have to add my 2 cents on this. My 2017 has under 600 miles, yes 600 miles.....and i just was told the clutch needs an entire rebuild! I have always been on top of the belt tension and chain case....but the rollers are basically all sticking and the clutch will not function properly. So far was quoted around 850$ for the parts and labor.

Ski Doo engines don't peak at 8250... That's Polaris. 7900 for etec 800/850, 8100 for both etec 600s

Mine peaks at 8250 But settles down to 7800-7900 quickly
@SnowmobileHomeMovies5 жыл бұрын
@@addimx the engine peak power is at 7900 rpm, a clutch can be set up incorrectly so that it peaks at some other range. When you are at 8250 you have lost about 15hp or more. The clutch is supposed to be calibrated to match the engine peak power which is 7900 rpm

@@SnowmobileHomeMovies only peaks at 8250 for a second and settles down to 7800-7900. Check your max rpm on the dash. Flip through the settings. Í would be supprised it was 7900.

I will add I always liked Doos inventions....the TRA clutch, the RAVE and rotary valve Rotax engines, as I rode them for decades. But in the end, power rules. Once my machz's were dialed in, no other adjustments made much difference. And as a long time Cat hater, I have to admit, the pairing of the Yamaha turbo 998 with the procross is just an awesome piece of work. Once you fix the cat dna flaws. Ride, handling and especially power make the most fun sled ever. Period. Roller clutches and minor tech tweaks mean nothing. Power rules.

@@nsa6790 Blew my original belt at 2590 miles, at wot! Avg. fuel mileage is 14, and seems pretty hard to blow up the turbo Yamaha 998! Not bad for over 200hp.

@@nsa6790 Glad you're happy with it! I rode doos for decades, very few problems. But sold them before 7000 miles. Gotta love the yamaha turbo, though, cat chassis is good, but qc can be spotty as is typical. I wouldn't get 21 with anything...lol!

brokenujoints Damn doos are straight bulletproof. Had a 800r from 2012 thing had 16000 miles on it from me and three kids, and you know how crappy they treat a big motor! Almost all of my 600’s have never had any problem, although I had a 15 with 8000 on it have a clutch blow out but what can you say. The e tecs are amazing when it comes to gas and oil mileage. Sure other sleds May have more power but I like to spend less ya know 😂

Roller clutches have been around for several years. The fact a manufacturer now has made one is not a revolutionary idea. They are just late to the party.

I like the info about the clutch but why do have to show people driving sleds with ski's off the ground , some driving at a high rate of speed through the trails . This mentality only tears up the trails and people getting hurt . Most drive sensibly but there are always some who try to mimic what's shown.

Good clutch. Trash engines.
@tlh0015 жыл бұрын
sully1d not really sure what you mean by “trash engines.” I have 11,000+ trouble free miles on my ‘12 Renegade 800 e-tec and 3,500 trouble free miles on my ‘19 Renegade 850 e-tec. they are both great on fuel and oil, and I pretty much dust any other stock sled. My riding group has Yamahas, Cats and Poos, so I have some exposure to other motors. now if your going back to 1000 SDI days, then I’d be more understanding. I put 4 of those motors in an ‘06 Renegade over its 8,500 mile life.
@mitchellkalina81915 жыл бұрын
Trash engines is laughable. Ski Doo engines are on par with anything offered by any of the manufacturers in terms of reliability and can't be matched in terms of efficiency. I have an 800R ptek that's given me 8000 trouble free miles and at times has yielded 15-16 mpg. The sled I had prior was a ZR 900, it gave me over 6000 trouble free miles and was rock solid reliable also. The difference was it averaged about 10 mpg and was an absolute pig and smoked like crazy when cold even when jetted perfectly. No engine can be made to withstand the negligence that most people bestow upon them. People just want to throw gas in something that is extremely high tech without ever keeping up with maintenance and expect things to just last forever despite the fact that these engines sit for several months in the off season. It's baffling
