Your right. I've heard, and noticed myself, that pistils can turn orange/amber early from too many nutes being given, or a drastic change in pH, as someone else mentioned. I definitely believe a sign of a very healthy flowering plant is white pistils until right before the final 2-3 wks of flower. Your not wrong!👍💯

My outdoor girls triggered at random times. Most of them started end of august to the first week of september here in NY. If they are in containers, you can bring them in to a dark room before sundown or sunrise to get 12 hours of exposure. This will trigger them to flower even with 14 hour days. My indoor girls are keeping their white pistils unless they are touched or rub against leaves. The outdoor girls got beat up by the wind, and it caused most of them to darken on the tip. I was worried that I had pollination. If you think your plant is pollinated, remove one of the brain calyxes and cut it open. Some genetics make micro seeds. Those will stay the same size throughout the flower cycle, but it does decrease the quality of the smoke imo.

Wow, I grew up in Ithaca, NY and grew outside, within the valley of the city (meaning less sun by a bit), and I had several girls in 5 gallon pots start flowering by mid July! It seems as if they really noticed the slight change in day lengths after June 20, but weren't triggered in mid May, when being put outside. Must've been being in the slight valley, instead of a hilltop with more direct and total sun. It never seemed to get darker earlier though. At least by eye..? I've gone out a month early, about 2 hours before dark, and covered late flowering plants with Contractor Trash bigs(that will block out the light. The bags are quite tall, also. Over 6ft tall and quite wide(to test, then take them off when dark, and this would get them to start flowering earlier. I'd stop about a month into flowering, and they'd continue flowering, getting done about a month earlier. These Contractor/Industrial trash bags might be good to protect almost done flowers from getting soaked in a rainstorm. While the humidity definitely rises when a plant is covered with a plastic bag over it, it's better than getting totally soaked. That was back in 2008-2010. Now I'm where it's too hot in the Summer to grow, unless they're close by, but luckily, a great friend let's me share an area in his garage he set up stealthy. No real law changes yet where I'm at now. And flooded with cheap product neighboring States don't want. Just doing it for the best medicine and because growing is a great passion. Keep on keeping on, in my forever home State!👍💯

FYI I’ve read research and studies that shows anything less than 12/12 in flower halves the THC production. Going to 11/13 at the very end to get them to finish up is one thing, but transitioning to anything less than 12/12 limits (by 50%) the THC potential, atleast according to the research and backup data

Great topic as always bro. Funky charms on a snow globe day. I'm growing outdoors in the Northeast (not right now of course)as well as indoors. Outdoors I've had the same cultivar flower at different times, goes to show pheno variation. What I noticed is that they flowered a 2 to 3 weeks after solstice. Where most everything else, as you said, flipped in late August. We'd get brown tips after a frost sometimes, but that was the only time. All this is anecdotal and personal to my experience growing. The two that flowered early were Gollywobbler and Mac n Jack, and both had a lot of rot problems since it was fairly warm and wet during flowering.

I’ve tasted lemon in bud before but I’ve never tasted it so strong before let alone lemonade not lemon! Its also 33.7%thc so that’s amazing!

Hey how’s it going. On my outdoor grow, Bruce Banner. I had one flower already has milky white terps. One had a brown tip, I touched it and was very sticky brown scented. Then I noticed a very small worm, killed it with my snipers, sprayed with BT, to kill any more caterpillars. The butterflies seem to lay their eggs usually on the top flowers, your best buds. They can do a lot of damage to your plants. Thanks again for all your info.

I share your experience with outdoor flowering mid Aug. I think the daylight hours getting shorter is what triggers them. I'm personally trying 13 on 11 off so I can get as much photosynthesis as possible. Just flipped today we will see how it goes.
@timturk1899 Жыл бұрын
Should be fine w/11 hours of darkness. If a very Sativa like plant, I'd recommend 13 hours of darkness (which DJ Short has always done inside, since breeding Blueberry, because of it's Thai and Mexican heritage, which are used to 12/on, 12/off all year outside). They may flower for an extra week or so, from shorter nights, but this can be advantageous with a larger yield. The Afghani heritage of Blueberry flowers much easier. I've heard that pure Indicas, or close to pure, can be flowered for 2-3 wks, then put out in the Spring as days are still getting longer, and they'll remain flowering, and not re-veg. Haven't heard about this much lately. Probably because of much better Autos available, and much less Pure Indicas around..? If you don't experiment, you don't learn!👍💯

Temps definitely make a difference. I noticed my pistils change to orange. Figured it's natural. What I did notice is that low temps brought out the beautiful purple on the leaves. Unfortunately, my temps were a bit to low at the root zone (60°-65°) so my buds came out kinda small. My canopy was around 72° . I had given a plant to my buddy who kept his temp closer to 80° and his root zone in the lower 70°. He didn't see any purple but his buds were HUGE. He showed me one of the smaller buds and that thing was as long as my pinky finger but twice as fat as my pinky. I know what temps I'm growing in for my 3rd grow.
@shaunsimmons634 Жыл бұрын
Those cooler temps for the last 2 weeks or3 would be fine you just don’t want it getting into the 50s especially organic and doing so after week 6 or 7 I’d say
@isaacsantiago545 Жыл бұрын
@@shaunsimmons634 I noticed that warmer temperatures produced bigger buds. I grew in cooler temps and one of my plants hermied. I gave it to one of my buddies so he can continue the grow and pull pollen balls off when they appeared. His temps at the canopy was closer to 80°. Those buds were nearly double the size as the ones I kept. My canopy temps were around 72° when the lights were on. My root zone was in the lower to mid 60°s. I believe that the cooler temps (especially at the root zone) caused slower growth. Definitely got fire weed but I was disappointed when comparing the bud sizes.

I've had them change early flower, but my pH was a lil alkaline 7.3. It really didn't do anything noticeable, other than change pistol colors early. I flushed n got back to 6.1 new growth new white pistols matured correctly.
@timturk1899 Жыл бұрын
Nutrient toxicity can cause early orange hairs, from what I've heard, and experienced last grow. Definitely makes sense that the pH being off could cause this same "problem", or a sign of a problem. I've found they should stay nice and white for most of flower.👍

I've found they also change colour before the rest of the plant if the cola is a bit closer to the fan. That repeated blast of stronger wind as the fan rotates seems to turn them a bit quicker. It isn't anything to worry about, provided the plants not swaying like its in a wind tunnel.

Honestly medicinal qualities, and scent / flavor are most important to me, I don’t care if it’s only 12% THC, as long as it has a good 2-5% CBD. I’m more in it for the stress relief, and aroma therapy. I don’t really care to get “burnt”, I care more to be medicated. I usually only have 1-3 hits every hour or so. But will smoke more in social situations, such as sharing a joint/blunt.

Some auto genetics can have hold-overs from their photoperiod parents. Some may get to a certain stage of flower and suddenly stop. Some need to be flipped to a 12/12 cycle to make them finish. Others, I think are just bastard offspring and will never fully mature.

Smoking on some claustrum ×( Durban × wifi OG) from Chambersburg, PA. Using 730 nm far red will mature plants faster cause you can run 14 lights on 10 off or 13 on 11 off. Emerson Effect 660nm + 720-730nm = both Photosynthesis systems 1 & 2. Which promotes faster maturity on most strains. I run it full flower - 15 minutes after lights off will put them to sleep 2 hrs faster, hence you can use that extra time as lights on time to mature them faster. UV treatments can turn pistils faster too.
