Lots of work can save money. Enjoyed seeing it come together. I’m anxious to see how the slightly larger tines affect the flow of material, if at all!

I think we’re gunna try to form them to match the original tines

Great video. If you have not used one of those rakes before please beware of a couple of things. Never put heat on the tines. If you change the temper, they will snap easily. Make sure you find the tines that snap off right away. If not your tractor tire will. If you have a friend that is also a welder, you may consider feeding he or she in exchange for showing you how to use your cutting torch. It is something that the basics can be explained in about ten minutes. The rest is just practice. Have a great day.

I thought heating them might make them more prone to snap…that’s why I’ve held off so far. Great point on finding the broken ones!

I live in the same state as you and find that a rake every other tooth removed performs alot better in our climate than one with all the teeth in. Having all the teeth in means you need like bone dry dirt and we dont get that often.

Considering I live in a swamp, I don’t think I’ve ever seen dry dirt on my property. Thanks for the tip, I’ll consider that after the first test run!

7' wide is good. Maybe add a couple gauge or tail wheels.Tail wheels off rear of 3 pt frame.I've found gauge wheels let rake dig down when rake is angled. Tings will line up with each other after a little use.

I thought about that and actually have a set of wheels already, would just have to make the frame work

Hey, I have a 7 foot rake for my L3200 hst.... perfect when the rake is tilted. 6 foot wont get it done.

That's exactly why I decided to go 7' and I'm glad I thought of that before I cut it down to 6'

Why didn’t you use the plasma cutter?

I did use it for some portions, you must have skipped over the part where I explained why I used the torches.
