I live in Thailand since 2010. My golden rule was and still is.... rent rent, rent. Never buy. If one wants to own buy property in the country you come from. And by renting one is free to go and change. I did that many times both in Chiang Mai as well as in Pattaya/ Jomtien. Same goes for a car... in Thailand I drive a very old Mitsu Lancer. It still goes and it brings me everywhere I want to go... no fancy car in Thailand for me ( I have one in Europe). Just keep it simple. Many people buying condos and fancy cars forget one thing. Thailand is not your homecountry . Same goes for girls..... keep it simple. Trust but always keep a bit suspicious.. it is good for both ones emotional as ones financial health.

i would revise your age gap formula with the age you look,not your actual age. it raises the age of the women you can get if you let yourself go, but allows you to get younger girlfriends if you're in good shape and take care of your face (lotion, sun block and sunglasses to prevent wrinkles).

Advice: Never burn your bridges at home. Once on pension, go for 3 months to thailand, stay the other 3 months at home, etcetera. Keep your health insurance at home. Keep your property. Stay away from SEA in hot summer months. Make sure that you stay the cold months in the west in Thailand. Take the best out of both worlds. And just stay 3 months at a guesthouse, where you get everything included, without the hassle of electric, deposits....

My last trip I went to PiDC on Soi Buakhao. Very happy with them. The only problem I had with them was that they are across the street from a very good looking hotel (very blue) and I kept walking by. I appreciate lovely architecture and it kept distracting me. Very convenient to where I was staying on Soi Buakhao.

The advice is never a bar girl, freelancer, etc -- find someone with a regular job. Which I would agree with 100%. But the tricky bit is you've also told more than a few stories about women who work a regular job but also freelance on the side. So how to weed those out early on? Would suck to spend time and money and get emotionally invested with someone only to find that out later. I'm guessing that situation would be less frequent and less of a concern in other places besides Pattaya?

I just don't have much interest in younger ladies, although I do have several friends who are mid-30s, but they're just friends. Also, in my experience, Asian women, not just Thai women, age really well, and it's not uncommon for women in the 40-55 age range to look like they're 30-35.

Almost any dentist outside of the tourist traps is cheap, painless and pretty easy. Normal filling between 400 and 700 baht, proper teeth clean 300 to 500 baht. Opticians vary a lot in price and standards. Lasic surgery in Thailand is exceptionally good value and the better ones are reputable.

In the US when I was married, wife had my Capitol One credit card, was super annoying and argumentative, virtually no sex last two years of marriage, no nights out convinced me to stop drinking and going out, lost all friends, in the divorce I got out pretty clean, she never spent one cent in 4 years of her own to help with the bills. I agree that your age and money considerations fit to most cases, but you cannot generalize totally. I am an exception to this and at least 2 friends are in a similar relationship. I am 65 soon, my girl friend just got 31; i give her 6500 every month for the family (son, brother, sister, mother, grandma); and even crack the expression 'never ever a bar girl'; i met her in a bar and i even let her continue work in that bar (only a few days per week); we both are fully fine with this even if i go to Pattaya a few days; for both of us counts: if there ist no trust there cannot be love; missing trust destroys any relationship

I know I keep asking some crazy questions, and I hope you can forgive me, but there are just things that come to mind that I feel I will possibly encounter whenever I finally decide to live there. As I said before, I saw some 2 girls at the Pin Up go go bar that were so pretty, I would seriously consider the $1500-$2000 allowance! The question I have is, if you are to give your former go go girl, Thai “girlfriend” a substantial allowance, is she responsible for paying for her own day-to-day affairs, like her clothes and shoes, her entertainment, whatever she does when she decides to hang out with her family and friends, etc.? Or, is that allowance strictly for her pocket, while the man fully funds her entire life on top of that? Also, what if you are already providing your former bar girlfriend a luxury lifestyle? Does the fact she’s now living in The Cove condo, eating at Harlan’s four times a month, has a maid, and can pretty much wear what she wants within reason matter at all? Or will she still expect that $1500-$2000 allowance regardless?

In vegas a typical filling 500-1000$ glasses like those 400-700$ the frame could make a big difference. having a GF in states that lives with you and doesn’t work isn’t a strait money transaction but it will increase your monthly spend by 1000$ to 2000$. Rent 1500-2500$ electric bill 200-400$ water 50-100$ internet 100-180$. Cellphone 50-100$ car insurance Full coverage 150-300$. Now a huge difference is the age of your GF. You better be seriously wealthy if you’re going to get a GF half your age plus 7 years. lol😂

there is another type of semi regular gf that is cheap ,they are the freelancer with a sponsor ,i've come across accidently girls who i lived with for months on end upto 6 months who had either sponsors in other countries or even husbands who were in other countries for various reasons ,all i did was pay rent or they lived with me and i just payed for food ect ,they cooked and looked after me so was a good trade ,no salary at all ,but finding these is usually something you find out later on after couple months as they dont always say they have a sponsor but you work it out later ,as long as you don't get to attached its financially a good deal ,and will last until said sponsor or husband comes back .
