I may have to randomly tossed them into the soil of my bird of paradise and monstera and they've rooted 🤣 I guess that's one way to get a fuller looking bottom 😬

I love when my jades are babies, they're so cute. I have around 20 new jades growing in a tupperware of cactus mix. I find that once you let them callous, they actually enjoy their soil kept pretty moist until they establish roots & start plumping out their leaves, especially my gollums. Don't be afraid to water Jade plants, you can super soak them when it's time to water, especially in their growing season. The best time to water mature plants is when the soil is completely dry & the leaves look a bit puckered.

but if you do give it water, you’re not depleting the plant of it’s stored up water (energy). if you give it water, moisture also helps to encourage roots. you just don’t wanna flood it every other day. water it when it’s dry after the first 2 weeks. before that, just give it some water near the stem.
@EverythingPlants Жыл бұрын
You can water but if there are no roots to use up the water then you run the risk of rot.... especially if it's a stem
@kiranNiks8 ай бұрын
Lightly spraying the top soil is enough. Trust me watering is bad bad....
@MUM2RKG8 ай бұрын
@@kiranNiks respectfully, i disagree. i’ve propped thousands of leaves and stem cuttings. i mean, if you have them un the right conditions - meaning correct amount of soil - meaning not too much - and light and temperature, humidity, watering fully works perfectly fine. you just can’t do it too much, of course. i usually put props that don’t have roots, or have very little roots, in 2” pots or they’re in a tray (it’s a takeout container). that being said, i tell beginners to just do the very top layer of soil because i’m gonna assume their conditions aren’t all correct and the props can’t handle that much moisture. but it’s absolutely doable. i don’t want to use up stored water in the prop.

I wouldn't bother propagating a leaf. Even though you can, it takes forever to grow into a decent plant. Much quicker to use a mature branch, about an inch thick.

I found this out purely by accident. I was watering one day and found a squirrel (🤬) had been through my pot and had broken off a few leaves. I put them aside in a pot that I had just transferred another plant from - I didn’t have the heart to toss them out just yet. Shortly after that, I discovered them sitting in a corner and sure enough, they had rooted and sprouted new growth, much to my delight!

My daughter was given a bonsai jade but the leaves are pale green.what can we do to help them become darker?
@toast9093 Жыл бұрын
I’m not a plant expert but I believe the colors of the leaves are determined by the amount of light. More light and your plant turns light green and sometimes red at the edges and less light makes them a darker green. Mine is light green at the moment because it’s by a window but when I bring it further inside it gets darker.
@natka44410 ай бұрын
late but yeah toast9093 is right, I have a jade on my window and its a pale green. I water it bi-weekly so its not dehydration. Just gets alot of light. As long as the leaves have some plumpness to them its fine

@carriered47153 ай бұрын
I'm Definitely Not an expert, but mine sounds the same as yours, and I think it's because I'd moved it into a shady area in my house, it seemed much stronger and thicker when it was in a much sunnier room, so I've put it back there now !

Hey Jeff! Quick question for you, is it normal that some of the leaves on my jade plant is corking? The leaves are firm and don’t seem to have any pests, but there’s a brown layer on top which looks like corking. Doesn’t look like your plant have that so I’m not sure what it is.
