Those dramatic arpeggios sound like an orchestra. Chopin and Kissin are geniuses.

When I met Kissin back in like 2000 or so I shook his hand after the concert when I got his autograph. Anyways he had the strongest hands I have ever felt.

This I think is one of Chopins great haunting melodies which is lost as an etude. Someone needs to arrange for it to played not only as an etude, but also a very haunting Nocturne. It's so up for grabs as a powerful Movie theme.

One of the few I’ve heard accent the base note properly when he’s coming back into the “start”. So many accents the right hand, when you really need to hit the left on those five notes G, Ab, A, Bb, B, then switch back to the right. Just masterful work on his part

After a long time, I performed Chopin's Etude Op.25 No.12 at a concert. I felt the overwhelming technique (uniformity of sound, clarity of melody, etc.) and the passion for sound ❤️🔥. Amazing (*゚∀゚*)👍🏻

Still learning this... will probably never quite be able to play as fast as Kissin
@sacrilegiousboi9786 ай бұрын
Yeah, a lot of people say it's not that hard "because it's just arpeggios" and they play it super slowly, but at this tempo and with no slowing down and without missing notes, it's insanely difficult

It seems such an oddly unmusical performance. Stunning technique as always, but just seems lacking in some respect. He can play with great emotional range. This was one-dimensional.
@sacrilegiousboi978Ай бұрын
@@pamelahood I get what you mean. Unlike many of Kissin’s interpretations this was very “no nonsense” - but for some reason it works for me here. I think some people do too much with it, yes maybe Kissin could have done a bit more but some pianists make me feel seasick (pun intended) with how much excessive rubato and tempo changes they do with it. I think Kissin meant it to be a flashy crowd pleasing encore performance and nothing else, the Clair De Lune performance he did right after was extremely emotional and sensitive. I do find it very satisfying to re-watch this purely from a technical standpoint also.

I wouldn't say I like this version, he made the sound quite simple, but not good, it's sounds too digital and cartoon, not the complex and attractive multilayer ocean sound.
@YushangChen Жыл бұрын
@@user-jt4gu9dn6w It's hard to understand what you said. digital and cartoon means this guy doesn't control the piano key very well, am I clear? I don't play piano, but I have ear, and not everyone is master even he looks like a master.

The "ocean" thing is just an stupid name that should never be given to the etude as Chopin disliked programmatic music
