Evgeny Kissin is an enigma he is beyond and far in his music. He is for me the best and he is only 43 yrs. old compared to the other elder musician Rubenstein, Horowitz, Agerich, Arrau and etc. In an early young age he plays and interpret music like their age a genius, a musical prodigy.

I've been listening to Evgeny Kissin since 2001, he is a genius. I would like my little autistic boy to be just like him someday.

Kissin is great. He is incredibly mature for his age, even compared to Rubinstein at the same juncture of life. I think, even now at such a relatively young age, among the greatest of pianist of all time. But this performance, I can't rank very high. He seemed mad or something, everything is rushed, the notes are running into each other, not the precise clarity associated with him. He has two other recording of this piece, one is when he was really young, and another one later (I think live as well). That later one is much better than this I think. This Chopin polonaise is my favorite of all the piano solo music out there. I am trying to learn it as well. I am still waiting for a pianist who can match Rubinstein's recording he make in the 60's with RCA for this polonaise.

***** That is young relatively compared to other greats. Rubenstein was arguably at his peak in his sixties. He continued to perform at a very high level to his 70's. Likewise with Horowitz, Arrau, Serkin.

Kissin performs each of his performances of the Polonaise amazingly, but I do prefer another one of his performances to this one. My favorite version is that of Horowitz At The Whitehouse.. equally the Argerich version(she's my favorite pianist), and Gilels.
