If the verse isn’t a distraction it’s a very rewarding read. Hope your week is going well, Fraser. Cheers, Jack

Onegin is one of these stories that I know without having read the book. I have seen it in opera and ballet, but not in the original form. I finished yesterday Fathers and Sons by Turgenev, with a main character named Evgueni who believes in nothing spending some time in the countryside at a friend’s place. 🤔Where did Turgeniev get that? 😄

Right?!? Pretty much every Russian writer over the next century was writing as a successor or reaction to what Pushkin created. How did you enjoy Fathers and Sons? Cheers, Jack

It was integral to the superfluous analysis, Una.

You should read James Falen's translation. It is much smoother written and closer to the Russian original. You can find it in audio book on KZbin.

It’s very good. You’d probably pick up on many more links to German Romanticism than I did.
