Thanks! In my place the Tone Vise is more available than the EVH strangely enough, so knowing is a better option for a Floyd system with a cavity is perfect! Thanks again for the insight!

This is great. I’d never heard of the Tone Vise. I love the idea of being able to have a Floyd Rose guitar and alternate between standard and drop tuning. On top of that I can pitch shift down if I want. This makes a guitar very versatile.

I am curious about the pitch shifter. Is it okay to completely let the Floyd float or is it recommended to have a tremol-no?
@monstarockband3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can leave the Floyd floating with a tone-vise. You don't need a trem-stop and you don't have to worry about it interfering with the cavity when you're pulling up.

nice kelly.. love the finish. ive never seen that one up close. i own two kellys. 2005 ke3 black on black and a new js32T in snow white. my ke3 has a real floyd. setup in eflat with barely enough room to hit a drop d. im gonna look in this floyd mod. my buddy has something simliar on his rickenbacker bass works great.

If I install this would I only be able to have the Floyd fully floating while in drop tuning and dive only when I use the d tuna to switch to standard tuning I really like the concept and I’m interested in getting one I just had this one question I need answered before I pull the trigger so to speak
@monstarockband3 жыл бұрын
You will be able to pull up or dive bomb in both Drop D or standard tuning... the tone-vise stays within the existing Floyd cavity so it works both ways. I wasn't able to pull up on the bar with a D-Tuna because it extended past the routed Floyd cavity. Best of Luck!
@jamesmoses40663 жыл бұрын
@@monstarockband apparently even if you route out a cavity, you still can't use the d tuna with a fully floating trem. Something about how Floyd Rose's work would make it if your trem was fully floating and you switch to drop D, it will be out of tune because of the way the guitar balances itself. In order to use it, you have to block the trem.

@@monstarockband would you mind explaining to me what a stabilizer is? How does it change the Floyds natural function? What is a tremol no and tremsetter?
@monstarockband3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmoses4066 Hi James, a trem stopper is an adjustable "stop" that keeps the Floyd level. You can push down on the bar for dive bombs but can't pull up because the trem stopper stops you from pulling up. If you break a string, the trem stopper keeps the rest of the strings in tune instead of throwing everything out because of the unbalanced string/sping tension. Hope this helps! Cheers!
@monstarockband3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmoses4066 I've guitars with a D-Tuna with a full floating trem that I routed out a cavity for the D-Tuna and it worked for me. It's just not cosmetically appealing to have a trough carved into the top of your guitar. That's why I prefer the tone-vise.

Do you need to block the floyd so that it only pushes down only with the tone vice pitch shifter? Since I am guessing of it was set to go both floating it couldn't utilize drop d tuning?
@karlburbage80143 жыл бұрын
I have a Jackson JS32 Kelly. I can’t use the Tone Vice as the screw it comes with is fraction too short and the adjuster barrel doesn’t quite clear the fine tuner shelf on the floating bridge.

That's unfortunate. I haven't had any issues with them at all so far on any of my guitars.

Nice video. I’ve owned both and I have to say d tuna. I don’t know if I got a lemon with the pitch shifter but it worked well for a few weeks. Then randomly it stopped staying in tune. The finish was chipping away from the use too which could be part of it. Love my d tunas

@@edgyswordsmanmanga4051 have you seen other negative ones? Mine worked good like I said for a few weeks then I noticed it was wearing out and showing under the paint. My d tuna has some wear on the finish but it still operates fine and that’s like after a year of heavy use. Tone Vise just seems somewhat cheaply made from my experience

@@CyberSoulLover some written reviews if I remember right. I dunno. Its been a while. Regardless, I hesitate. Im debating whether to get a tremmory plus a d-tuna (routing to let it float) instead of a tremmory plus a tone vise. It might take some work, but Id be willing to do it if it means it wont wear out with heavy use. D-tunas can float/pull up if theres extra routing and a trem stabilizer, right?
@CyberSoulLover3 жыл бұрын
@@edgyswordsmanmanga4051 you could always try the tone Vise first and see. Maybe you might have better luck than me and others. Yeah the d tuna you will have to route out the body to be able to pull up. ESP actually does that on a few models so you could always take some pics of that and reference it twitter.com/loosecannonlnge/status/1226144352151277568?s=21 I actually have that setup on one of my guitars but mine is a trem stopper. But with a trem stabilizer I could totally pull up. I would definitely go the d tuna route way. Once you get them set up properly they are perfect
@kaoe1453 жыл бұрын
But which one retains tuning better when switching back in forth between standard and drop tunings
@monstarockband3 жыл бұрын
The both work really well staying in tune once they are setup. The tone-vise is easier to tune because it uses the existing Floyd fine tuner. If the EVH needs adjustment, you have to use a tiny Allen key which works, but isn't the most user friendly. Thanks!

Does anyone know of or have a preference between the TV or EVH when installing on an Ibanez? My oldest Ibanez is a RG560 from the early 90’s and it’s the only one that has a REAL Floyd Rose. All of my JS series guitars have Ibanez trems (I think?) . My JS140 has a Edge Zero II I believe? I have a couple of JEM777’s but I think those are Ibanez branded trems too. If anyone has any expertise with putting either of these D-Tuna’s on an Ibanez or (non-Floyd Rose trem) please hit me up if ya have a free sec.

That's a great question. I have honestly never tried it so I don't have the answers but it would be interesting to try.
