I am trying to decide between these new Frankenstein versus the older Frankie with red and white stripes. The only difference I can tell between them is one has an oiled neck versus the satin lacquer. Do you know if the oiled is much better than the lacquer? Is there any other difference other than the new one are $400 cheaper?

Hmm... it says on the spec sheet the tremolo block is brass but when flipped over it didn't look like it. Looked like that cheap pot metal unless it's zinc plated, not sure. I'd replace it with a fat brass block

I thought the Floyd was to be deck’d and dive only from the factory.

Even as a huge Eddie fan myself, I wouldn't even think about buying this guitar for one simple reason - Basswood body ( !! ) I don't care that Eddie switched from Alder to Basswood back when he went to Peavey, then EVH to make his guitars. I say that pointedly to all the Eddie Zealots who have said over the years - "Well, if it's good enough for Eddie..." The fact of the matter is Basswood has very poor sustain qualities, and there is almost no bottom-end and fullness in the tonal quality unlike Alder, or to a greater extent, Mahogany. Building a custom Hot Rod strat isn't difficult anyway. Warmoth is just a web click away.

"Absolutely rock solid in terms of tuning stability." But... the guitar is out of tune.
