This video made me cry. I'm 53 and about 4 years ago, when we were at a low point in our lives, I almost fell for this scam. This man was so rude and I was so scared. If I had any $$ in my account, I would have paid it. I tried to set up payment arrangements and fortunately he got frustrated and hung up on me, Thank you Jesus! No employee would ever call the CRA Revenue Canada anymore. Next time you call an agency in Canada, you should ask them to deal with you in French. I did that last year. They couldn't and argued with me that they didn't have to serve me in French as I wasn't living in France. That and the fact that I worked with the Tax Court of Canada until I retired so I have more knowledge of the CRA that he did. I don't recall ever having so much fun with a scammer!

@@DJDarling no. you do have to send them your declaration electronically or on paper though most forms are pre-generated for you by your employer and your bank. there are also free tools out there that let you automate everything else. it can take about 15-20 minutes if you aren't dealing with anything unusual

Yeah if you don't have any weird shit you can do them electronically in like 15 minutes, even the oldschool paper forms that nobody uses anymore only take an hour or so. The way the forms are laid out It's really hard to "accidentally" owe taxes unless you are deliberately trying to hide income from the government (the opposite is actually more likely, that you miss credits that you're otherwise entitled to). Even if you do owe money they'll send you a bill first. The obvious tell is that they can't give you anything specific about your return or, most importantly, why you actually owe money.

I got a call from a guy like this calling himself "John Smith." I just starting laughing on the phone. I always like wasting these guys time. I don't do the whole computer thing, but I keep them on the line for as long as I can because every minute I keep them on the phone with me is one minute less they can use to scam other people. I've had a couple of calls from people claiming to be from Microsoft and wanting to fix a bug on my computer over the years. Thankfully I'm too clued up to be fooled by them. So I hung up both times.

I'm from Calgary,Alberta,Canada and I actually got a call from one of these scammers saying the exact same shit!!! I had a bad feeling about it,so I just told them that I was receiving Aish and there is NO way that I could pay them anything,and they said "oh...okay,bye" and that was the end of that!!

There isn't even an organization called "Revenue Canada" lol, it is the Canada Revenue Agency. They would never call it Revenue Canada lol

That's true! "Revenue Canada" is what it used to be called, but the name was changed in 1999 (to CCRA and later CRA). It's basically just a colloquialism now. That's admittedly pretty tricky though, because older people will still totally remember it as Revenue Canada and probably not think twice.
