I love the Evil Dead movies!, the ones with Ash ONLY... some of my favorite horror films of all time, the first three are 10/10 imo, I started the TV show and idk, I find it not that great?... It was kind of boring imo, I prefer the Chucky TV series far more

The third Evil Dead movie is called Army Of Darkness & it actually is a sequel to Evil Dead 2 & it does indeed take place in medieval times. It also has a much higher budget, which you can tell from the picture quality & the cinematography. And, like the first two movies, it's both horrific & ridiculously funny.

The Evil Dead trilogy going from horror to comedy is great. Bruce Campbell really gets to shine doing slapstick and the scene of him losing his mind among the laughing furniture is a fave of mine.

I was recently disappointed to learn that the 3rd movie was originally supposed to be called "the medieval dead" but some studio head made them change it. That was an infinitely cooler title.

I also perceived this sequel to be superior to the original. If nothing else, it's funnier. But I recall showing it to my nephew and his gf, some years ago, and they weren't into it. I think the most accessible film in this series is "Army of Darkness." It's also just plain FUN.

Dasha, the first one WAS supposed to be serious. The second one less so. And the third one is pure campy fun. And the TV series has the exact same feel of Army of Darkness, so if you like silly horror with over the top ridiculous grossouts, the TV series is a must watch.

The first one was ment to be funny. It's dark humour and a parody of , what was known in the UK as 'video nastys', at the time of VHS. Trash budget horror with offensive content. ED1 was originally made in 1978. Rami was unable to find a distributor in the US. Palace pictures in the UK eventually released it for the first time in 1981, simultaneously in cinema and on VHS. The problem was the UK government was seriously cracking down on VHS video nastys as VHS had yet to have a certification and kids could view them. ED1 was on VHS was mistakenly grouped into this investigation and Rami was ordered to the high court in the UK for the films content. It was such an ordeal for Rami that he made thr second movie slapstick to be more obvious about the humour.

Ash Vs. Evil Dead a HBO series, with 3 seasons is a great one to watch, they brought all the same characters from the films. the demon in the cellar, was the director Ted Raimi. he directed it, along with his brother Sam Raimi. another great reaction to a classic! 👍

Did you notice Freddy Kruger's glove hanging over the door in the work shed when he was fighting Linda? This movie was being shot at the same time as 'A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors". Sam Ramie took the glove form that set and put it in the background of Evil Dead 2 because in the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie, there's scene where Nancy is watching the first Evil Dead movie.

The beginning of the movie, up until the point where the evil spirit hits Ash, is a reimagining of the first movie, with Ash's friends excised from the story, for convenience (because of rights issues). Everything after that, you can treat as a straightforward sequel to the first movie.

This film definitely has more of a comedic element than the first film. The next film does pick up where this one ends. It is VERY GOOD, and worth watching. "Army of Darkness" (1992) is the title. The 3rd movie is called Army of Darkness. There is a 4th one too, but as a TV-show called Ash vs. Evil Dead. Evil Dead Rise is NOT a sequel, but a spinoff. In my opinion that one is more of a sequel to the remake than the original trilogy! If it doesn't have Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams then it's not a true sequel!

If you're confused about the beginning of Evil Dead 2 it's because the first movie still happens. when the second movie starts they just give you a small recap but they had to change it up because of legal reasons or something when they were making this movie so the first part of the movie doesn't really matter until it shows the evil force returning crashing through the house and goes after Ash and slamming him against the tree where he falls into the puddle of water, that's where the movie officially starts.

The story has changed over time. Originally, Raimi and Bruce Campbell said ED2 was a remake of the first film because they didn't have the rights to the first ED, making "Army of Darkness" actually ED2. During the pre-production they decided to amp up the cheesy comedy and slapstick humor since Bruce was quite agile and could do flips and other pratfalls.

As funny, quirky, funny and scary as this is, the Three-Season "Ash vs Evil Dead" tops it and the other two films of the trilogy by deepening the lore and the main character.

Evil Dead 2 falls in a weird place between a remake and a sequel. The beginning of the movie sums up what happened in the first movie, minus most of the characters, but then it continues on with the story from where it left off at the end (where he gets hurled through the trees and becomes possessed).

I remember watching this at my aunts house. The funniest part of the movie wasn't so much the movie but the adults all laughing hysterically over how absurd it was. My uncle had the best belly-laugh. It was so loud. I remember him laughing loudly at this movie and also Ace Venture When Nature Calls, the rhino scene. Unfortunately, my uncle had a stroke and lost the ability to speak. I miss his laugh.

"I could see this movie easily ending in the next 7 minutes"... um yes. It's a condensed catch up of the 1st film in under 10 mins. You must have missed my comment on your 1st film's reaction, explaining, "FYI, Part 2 has a 10 minute recap of part 1 as the opening, but due to Sam Raimi not having rights to footage from the 1st film, they had to reshoot, recast, and simplify the storyline so people who hadn't seen it could catch up. So that will assuage your confusion. I make sense of it by thinking of it as Ash having a nightmare about the events of the first film (up until he wakes up in part 2 in the chair), and dreams are often not a faithful retelling of events. The fact that Ash's mind is also greatly impacted makes him a semi-unreliable narrator, so that works too."
