Yeah, he wants me to believe that his brain wouldn't have automatically immediately detected the car seat was NOT empty as he handled it?? He had to grab the handle, pull on it, get the carseat out, pick it up, carry it a short ways, then lift it up and violently hurl it using all his strength...(Which would have been made more difficult & awkward if he was sitting the whole time as he claims, just using his arms). I don't care if it only took a few seconds total *and* he was temporarily blind *and* deaf. Even if you covered my ears and eyes before ordering me to grab an empty carseat from your vehicle and throw it out the window, I'd still detect the baby just from the weight!..It wouldn't matter if this was the first time ever handling the carseat either; I'd still notice a baby was in it, the moment my arm & hand muscles registered how heavy & bulky it was. Not just the extra weight, but how that weight was distributed and being handled...especially as I lifted the whole carseat to throw it; I'd notice how the weight seems to be very detached and reacting to the movement differently! Such a ridiculous excuse! 🤦

The paternity test was most likely because Ariel had applied to the state for financial assistance for the baby, rather than to force visitation. The state wants to determine paternity so that the actual parent can help pay for the baby rather than it all falling entirely on tax payers.

A very sad thing happened to a baby here in Sweden last summer. Her father was supposed to drop her off at kindergarten before work but forgot and went straight to work. The baby was strapped in the baby seat and succumbed to a heatstroke having been forgotten by her father. He was sentenced but took his own life before he could be incarcerated. Guilt ended his life. The man in this case doesn’t show any kind of emotion about what he’s done.

He was being interviewed as a witness first in an exigent situation, rather than being interviewed as a suspect. We didn't see the entire interaction he had, but he was probably initially advised that he was free to leave at any time and was neither detained nor arrested, which doesn't require Miranda. As soon as he became a suspect and was again speaking to investigators, he was advised of his Miranda rights, which is how it's supposed to happen.

Correct, birth control, abstinence, and damn near every state allows babies to be given up at fire stations, hospitals, etc without consequence. So yes, plenty of options. However, in this instance, the mother wanted the baby. He didn't. So none of those options were available to him. He needed to man up and deal with it at that point. Although, based off what you were eluding to in your statement, if a woman can decide solely on her own to get an abortion, even against the fathers wishes, then shouldn't the man also have the ability to abort his responsibility from the baby? Meaning if the woman keeps it, he should then have the option to completely relinquish all responsibility and all without her consent. I don't think either options are good but we live in a time where people sleep around frequently and in many cases, so much so that women don't even know who the dad could be! So I am in favor of the abortion option but it should be limited to first trimester.
