This is a great fish catching fly. Thanks for your tutorial

I have used this fly a few times this spring and had some really good luck with it. Super fun to tie and the Bondic is a great product.

I’ve been raking with these out here in CA. This lil guy is taking rainbows on the Truckee, Kings, and Putah. I’ve gotta tie up about a dozen more soon. Along with the Bird’s nest, this has become my new confidence fly.

Awesome looking Fly Tim, going to have to try and tie a few of them up.

Awesome fly...I tie something like this, however I use charteruse thead as well as wrap a thead of crystal flash around the body before wrapping the wire to give it some extra flash. It has worked incredibly well for me

So I got a question for you Tim. Why is that beads heads don’t specify for what hook to use?. Package only show the size of beads but not for what size of hooks to use. Thanks for the great video.

Great fly! By far the best tying videos on youtube. Do you like to use a black brass bead, or black tungsten bead?
@tightlinevideo9 жыл бұрын
***** On flies 18 and smaller, I generally don't use tungsten as the extra weight doesn't really seem to make them sink that much faster. Rather put the money into tungsten beads for hooks size 16 and up. Not sure whether scientifically that's accurate, but it works for me.

My Bondic cured tacky to the touch with the cheap little light and needs curing in the sun (the ultimate uv curing light) for about an hour to be non tacky
@tightlinevideo9 жыл бұрын
Normand Frechette The one I got cures remarkably fast and hard, tack-free. I was really surprised because the light is so small and simply can't have that much power, but it works. I've tried most of the major fly tying brands and all seem to need some natural sunlight time to completely harden. Applying a quick light top coat of the Quick Drying Sally Hansens also works very well.

What hook would you use with DIA-RIKI being no longer made? Fire hole?

mjskip22 The closest I've come to a mouse so far is the "Pine Squirrel Streamer". Hoping to have a more floaty pattern video early this fall.

How do you like the Regal over the Dyna King? Which do you prefer for tying midges? Thanks in advance, great vids
@tightlinevideo8 жыл бұрын
+DS NYC Both vises have extraordinary pluses and each have a few minuses depending on how you tie. I simply can't say (between the models of each brand that I have) that one is better than the other, just different. And, if you look at them, mechanically, they are two very different animals. I will say, the vise shown in this video, the Regal Travel Vise with midge jaws is the nicest midge/small fly vise I've ever owned.

@tightlinevideo9 жыл бұрын
Brooktrout Angler Yep, the one in this video is their new travel vise. Small, light and with the midge jaws who knows how small of a hook they will hold my guess would be a 32.
