I really enjoyed your profile of this unique new game, I am also in that minority with little interest to play the 2 newer "God of War" games but am excited to delve into "Evil West"! I too discovered it a week or so before release & missed my chance to pre-order it but last Sunday I ordered a copy via the Gamestop online service & am anxiously waiting for my copy to play on my PS4 Pro, a most enticing game & review my friend!

I'm surprised you don't like god of war. I would have thought that would be your type of thing. I liked what I saw in the review and the things you said has me confident that I can pick this up and enjoy it. Some reviews aren't so kind, probably because it's short. With games like this I like to try every difficulty out, because short games like this encourage a replay. Bayonneta 2 was a short game and I played that over and over trying to beat my time per level. I hope the evil west will be a bit like that as well.

Hi John, yea God of War has never been my thing. I've beat 2018 and played half of Ascension but that's it. Back when they were first popular I wasn't a PlayStation player really. I was Xbox and Gamecube although I did own a PS2, PS3, PSP and PSvita, I just didnt use them that much. I dont hate the franchise or think its bad, just not interested in it basically. But yea, I think you'll probably like Evil West then. If you can get it at a slight discount it would be even better but I liked it a lot for the price. It is short but I found it so enjoyable that I didnt personally mind that. I think you would need to do multiple playthroughs to unlock all the perks and upgrades as well so that's good. It even advises you not to play on the hardest difficulty first. Anyway, cheers for watching as always mate, its appreciated!😊👍🏻

Good looking game. Enjoyed the review as always. It's full price in Canada. 80 Canadian Loons. On ps4 at least. A little googling and I'm seeing all kinds of price. Seems like it's cheapest in steam.

It's unfortunate too as the 7th gen of games is a sweet spot for me, and I would love to support a throwback like this. Elden Ring still have me plenty occupied though. I took a break but I'm back in now lol

Haha good good. Sorry to hear about Covid dude, that sucks. I rarely leave my home so I've been squeaky clean lol. Haven't had the flu or a cold for many years now. Plus with my health problems, I cant afford to get them, not to mention Covid. In regards to the game, I would just recommend waiting for a sale because I do think its worth playing. I really enjoyed it. I finished Elden Ring in the week that it first came out, I didnt 100% complete everything in the game but I did get the credits to roll. havent been back to it since but I still think its an amazing game.

@@ConsolesOnlyGaming yeah, best to side with caution. I would hate to hear if you have any further health complications. I get sick rarely, but when i do it's an event. 5 days I was up for maybe 8 hours. Most of that just sitting under a hot shower. Elden Ring is probably the most gorgeous game, one hell of a spectacle. I'm maybe 75ish % through, I've played for over 100 hours lol too much ooh-ing and awe-ing. I'm a series vet too, so usually 'challenge' isn't much of an issue. (I have to admit though my usual vanilla approach to soulslike games was ill fit for thus particular one) Any chance you'll review Callisto Proticol ;) lol

I'd probably be the same honestly. I think if I caught something now I'd be literally out for a week or so at least. It takes me ages to shift anything and it sounds odd but my whole deal is that my body is now very "delicate" or "fragile". Its not like I have full blown MS or anything but Fibromyalgia is a less aggressive type of MS, so its still not great. I just have to be careful, a small knock results in large amounts of pain and bruising. As I said, I dont venture out too often because of that and If I do, I gotta take it slow. But yea, Elden Ring is awesome. I think I finished in around 60hrs or so and there was quite a bit of optional stuff that I didnt do. May go back for another playthrough someday, especially if they do some big DLC. Also, no lol. Zero chance. Not only would I be a quivering mess but I've heard the game kinda sucks anyway lol. Its not doing so well out there, some people like it and say its decent but I'm hearing mostly negative things right now. I dont know if you read my community post but I have got a content plan lined up for Xmas 👍🏻

New Saints Row is the most recent "modernised old game" I've played, and enjoyed. It's basically the same open world game from 10 years ago, but better (except story lol, but then who can top Johnny Gat). Evil West sounds/looks like a similar type of deal. Hope it sells decent for the dev! Have you looked into Wanted: Dead? Another upcoming game leaning into the older action game philosophy. Made by Soleil, whose founders worked under Itagaki during the early Ninja Gaiden days. Collector's Edition just hit Amazon (US) shelves for pre-order yesterday! Can't wait. Oh wait... you've played Valkyrie Elysium, so you probably already know if you want any more Soleil 😅!

So you enjoyed the new Saints Row then? I've heard nothing but bad things about it honestly. I've watched quite a bit of gameplay and it just doesn't look like something I want to mess with lol. That said, I've not played any Saints Row games. I know its much more wacky than GTA but I dont really like GTA games and so, I never tried Saints. I know they have big following and lots of people like them so obviously, I mean no disrespect, its just not my thing. I've had a quick look at Wanted: Dead, it looks OK from what I'm seeing although perhaps a tiny bit janky. I suppose I'll have to try it for myself to know how it feels to play. As you say though, I enjoyed Valkyrie Elysium so it may actually feel and play much better than it looks😊. Haha yea, that's a good point. I got Gungrave on the same day as this and I'll be reviewing that soon. I didnt like it as much as this but I thought it was OK. Anyway, cheers for watching and thanks for your comments👍🏻

Yes there is only one out there where the player is competent: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIWTfWyma7aJh9U Yeah I enjoyed the new Saints Row, and differ in opinion to the mass media and influencers. And thanks to them, Volition is now dead. (They also made the Red Faction games, other than Saints Row.) Apart from being a fan of the older games (2&3 mainly), at the time I was looking for low commitment games, so open world freedom was perfect. The writing and story is not up to par compared to the rest of the series, but there is still some funny stuff in there. It's also a very pretty game on potato PS4, and ran surprisingly well with minimum bugs. Mechanically and visually it's simply a better open world third-person shooter than what it was 10 years ago. I remember you saying you liked open world ”busywork” in the Sonic Frontiers video, so I thought you wouldn't be so averse!

Yep! That's the exact video I watched. The Developer led one. Looks alright to me, I'll probably give it a try next year when it releases. I generally do like open world busywork but it depends on the world and theme of the busywork, if that makes sense? I love modern Sonic (Sonic Adventure/ Sonic Frontiers etc) so playing in an open world based on that was cool. However, the somewhat realistic world of Saints Row doesn't do anything for me. Elden Ring? - absolutely! GTA? - nope! Assassins Creed? - love it! Horizon ZD/FW? - dont care at all! So yea, really depends for me, its definitely a case by case basis with no rhyme or reason lol. Plus I find the characters to be massively cringe inducing in the new Saints. I didnt get that feeling with the older ones, they seemed fun and wacky, but the new one feels....I dunno. Just off, I guess? Nothing against you though dude, if you didn't get that feeling from it then that's cool. I'm glad you're enjoying it👍🏻

Oh no no, its nothing like Red Dead. Not at all. This is a totally linear game. It plays a lot like God of War 2018 in terms of how its set up. God of War 2018 was a bigger and longer game but the basic set up is very similar. This is a level based action game, very straightforward. Its also themed on an alternate version of the old west. Its kinda Van Helsing-like I'd say. Maybe some Dusk till Dawn etc. Lots of vampires, werewolves and monsters etc.
