The thing about Venom isn't the concept, but the execution. No build-up, no reaction, no repercussion. It just happens out of nowhere, and after making you replay the prologue with no addition at all other than the cutscenes, nothing. Was that the point? Probably. Does that make it any better? Who am I to say? I didn't like it, while you may have loved it. It just wasn't what I was looking for in that game.

People always made fun of the codec conversations on this game especially the ones with Rose. I however think they are masterfully done. There is a distinct difference between the real characters and the AI. The actors for Rose and Cambell did a wonderful job sounding just a little bit off the entire time; saying things that aren't exactly contextually right in a normal human conversation, or knowing too much or too little for their character. They even increase or decrease their pitch abnormally at times, it really adds to the story in my opinion.

AF88 Or how Roy lies about the terrorists killing hostages for no apparent reason. The thirty billion dollars was a lie from Roy as well. As well as when Raiden says he remembered reading about Snake and Roy in a book called The Darkness of Shadow Moses and Roy says "I don't give a DAMN what that piece of TRASH said, do you GET me?!?" Basically revealing the patriot's disgust and hatred of Snake and the thing's he's done since the Roy Ai is essentially the Patriots.

Some of the things he said were cringe worthy, I'll give you that, Rose too; but in my opinion that is what sold the whole thing. Roy took his old character and made it awkward, disjointed, kind of unfamiliar and sometimes downright rude while still being Roy. By comparison the MGS4 Roy and Rose were much more human and normal.

I haven't played enough of MGSV to rate it yet...but, my first thought is.....I don't WANT to write my own story! I want a great writer to take me on an adventure like in the previous Metal Gears! This was the first game I ever played when I bought a PS2 in 2001. I went in having NO IDEA what video games had become since I played Pac-Man, Asteroids, Defender....etc. as a kid. I was blown away! When the opening cut scene ended and I was given control of Snake....I couldn't believe it.... The game took me months to complete and I didn't want it to end. I loved every minute of it....I still do. I immediately became obsessed with gaming and after coming out of a decade long fog of alcohol and drugs it was just what I needed. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart. Thanks I enjoyed your playthrough and I hope you're enjoying MGSV as much as I am! Cheers!

I enjoyed watching this play through! You are truly the best. I remember playing at the normal difficulty and I was frustrated at times. The most frustrating part of this game was definitely the fight with all the Rays! It made me feel like it would never end! I can only image playing it on extreme; I'd probably just turn the game off. When I was younger, I never realized how long the cut scenes were mainly because I was really trying to understand the story and wtf was going on. Nevertheless, you did great and I will be watching the other metal gear play throughs.

Wanna know what I wish would happen? If this game were to get a complete remake, they should have a mode or something that lets you play as Snake on the Big Shell: see the story from Snake's perspective and let us actually witness the events Snake went through (discovering Arsenal Gear, confronting Olga, fighting Miss Fortune) while Raiden was busy with other things. Sadly, with what had apparently happened between Kojima and Konami, this idea may never become a reality...

Just pick up a 360 or PS3 on the cheap. The games run at 60fps on console anyway and trust me, classic Metal Gear Solid on PC isn't pretty. A controller is the only way to play these games. I'm primarily a PC guy so don't think I'm biased.

For now we have a PCSX2(PS2 emulator) which runs MGS2/3 fine. Gonna have to wait a while longer for the current PS3/360 emulators to be able to run games in a playable state.

Having played the HD collection and having emulated both games through PCSX2 on high end hardware, I can confirm beyond a doubt that the HD collection is still better. The textures are better and the frame rate never dips below 60. That said, if you had the hardware, you should definitely investigate emulation.

I totally agree the HD version is far better, I did have some framerate issues in MGS3 on it but I use a DVD drive emulator(Xk3y) to play ISO files off a HDD so that could have been the cause as it's USB2.0

If you don't know it by heart, it's impossible to not get noticed, you have to know where the guards are in advance since you may have no radar and the guards love seing you from a blindspot because of this camera :|

I thought maybe it's because it's a Japanese game. There can sometimes be errors in localising, but I think i prefer the story explanation. The reason some of the dialogue during the Codec calls is clunky is because you are talking to an AI.
