The recommendation I will always make after Buffy is Veronica Mars. The creator was inspired by Buffy, there are a TON of actor/writer crossovers (including Joss himself in a role) and the tone of it is very, very similar. VM is incredibly good, holds up so well (like, better today than it was then almost in the way the show is an examination of the class war) and you would love it as anyone who watches Buffy would love it. Watch the first episode, guaranteed you'll be hooked. It was also Kristen Bell's breakout role.

When the core group split up to go to their battle areas, they each departed from Buffy in the opposite way she encountered them in the first episode. And Spike in the end once again knocked down the Sunnydale sign.

At the end Spike was who gave Buffy her fire back "I touch the fire and it freezes me". When they were holding each other's hand as everything was collapsing their hands were in flames. He ignited that spark in her that had been missing since she came back from the beyond. She was feeling everything in that moment. To top it off her last four words on the show were "I love you.... Spike". The "I love you" was in the hellmouth and the "Spike" was when Giles asked who did this ❤ Also, Cassie the blonde that told Spike "one day she will tell you" just before she died from the heart defect thats what she meant with the "I love you". -Lol this was the 3rd time that Spike has nocked over "Welcome to Sunnydale" sign lol. (Schools Hard, Lovers Walk, and then series finale). Then this was also the 3rd time that Buffy had a hand in destroying a school haha. (The 1st was the school gym at her old school in L.A, 3rd season of finale with blowing up the school at graduation and then here).

The "I love you/no you don't" exchange is a callback to when he told her he loved her and she said "no you don't." Also nothing wrong with loving Spike, the horrible thins he did were prior to having a soul, and Angel doesn't get blamed for what he did as Angelus. And Spike fought where his soul, it wasn't foisted upon him. Spike is a hero.

Respectfully 🙏🏻 This narrative that spike “fought” for his soul is weaksauce no matter how you try to pain it, you can’t in one sentence both say spike shouldn’t be held accountable for his past actions the same way Angel isn’t, which is true, but then also turns round and try to paint him getting his soul back as some noble thing that he DESERVES credit for. That’s an insane double standard, if he doesn’t get ANY of the negative actions held against him he ALSO isn’t responsible for ANYTHING that can be construed as “good” from his soulless self. And let’s be clear, while I very much think that spike wasn’t aware that the demon would be giving him a soul even if he DID it isn’t for a positive reason and is in NO WAY respectable or noble or cute. He was OBSESSED with Buffy, stalking for months and LITERALLY abusing physically and mentally and his actions were all a direct byproduct of that disgusting behavior FULL STOP. He was doing ANYTHING to get his end desire which is make Buffy HIS. They should be considered as two separate entities as with Angelus, even tho unlike Angel spike before and after his soul are BASICALLY the same person but that’s an ENTIRELY different discussion. I agree tho, it’s okay to have love for spike with soul after everything that’s happened, he did sacrifice himself a TRUE hero but there’s a BIG difference between having lvoe for somebody and BEING in love with them and Buffy DEFINITELY wasn’t in love with spike here🤷🏻♂️

@@AustinSamson1999 spike doesn't deserve credit for doing "good" by getting his soul back, but he indisputably did it FOR buffy, and that does deserve credit. anyway, becoming a vampire is like suffering a brain injury in real life. of course people are going to simultaneously give them credit for showing signs of the person they were (and in _buffy_ can be again) but not hold their failings against them. that's how we humans do.

There’s something about her facing herself in the end that’s so profound. Looking at her demon in the eyes and saying “you don’t control me anymore.” 👌 No, cause, you see. It’s in the way that The First wearing her face taunts her like she’s a child and expects her to just lay there and cry in her defeat. And then Buffy defying that expectation of herself is like her way of saying “Look who’s finally grown up”. Like she’s had a revelation in what would be her final moments. Buffy has only said to Angel and Spike the words: ”I love you”. She did never say that to Scott, Parker or even Riley. No Angel was her first love. After he left, she and Spike developed (especially him) successively from enemies to lovers. Spike was able to love and help her (and her friends) without a soul, cos as a human he was a gentleman and a poet, which he kept with him when he got transformed to a vampire. Angel was an drunk douchebag as a human and when he became a soulless vampire, he was pure evil. And he could never be genuinely happy with Buffy, cos then he would lose his soul. Therefore he and Buffy never could end up together. Spike fought to get his soul back to become ”William” again for the love for Buffy, which Angelus NEVER would’ve done. Spike developed humanity even without a soul. Therefore Buffy and Spike is the real deal - and forever.

It makes sense that Spike is the one to wear the amulet. Angelus never wanted his soul and would kill anyone who tried to put it back in him, while soulless Spike went out of his way and through the trials to get it back. After he tried to force himself on Buffy, he realized he had to do something about it. He is an empath when everyone ignored Willow's struggle he saw through it. Even with Drusilla, he tried to nurse her back to health when she was weak. Angelus would have killed them both if he needed to, even though they got history and they're "family". I believe that Angelus with a chip would still be dangerous compared to Spike. Maybe the way they were raised and what they went through as humans still affects them a bit in their subconscious, the demon still has access to those memories even if the human is dead.

I personally don’t love this finale. It’s not bad but I also don’t find it super memorable either and the happy ending doesn’t feel very Joss Whedon to me. I also don’t like that the thing that wins the fight for them is a random amulet that Angel just shows up with, was just given to him by wolfram and hart, and only was given to him as part of the agreement for Angel to take over the law firm. Very deux ex machina if you ask me. And like, wolfram and hart saved the world from the first evil? I much prefer The Gift as an episode that was written as a series finale at the time. Buffy sacrificing herself to save Dawn and her friends and being at peace for it, is just a far superior ending. I’m also probably in the minority but I also don’t think Buffy and Angel are “soulmates”. To me they feel very, high school/first love, important in your growth as a person but not meant to last forever. Give me Angel and Cordelia together any day, a relationship that took time to grown, first as friends with mutual respect for each other that we saw grow for multiple seasons before they got together over Buffy and Angel meeting in season 1 of Buffy and like 2 episodes later they are super in love with each other for no real reason. I’m sure most will disagree but I don’t get why people liked Buffy and Angel’s melodramatic high school relationship at all.

You captured how you became invested just like millions of others but you did it for us and recorded your feelings. Bravo. No one who starts this journey in the Buffyverse is ready for what will be coming for them. Have you gone back and watched yourself in the first Season recently? You like most everyone changes and usually for the better. When I rewatch what I think is a great final episode, I remember the First Slayer telling Buffy that she is full of love and that her love is great and full. For a long time I thought it was for The Gift butI have amended that theory. She gives up her life for Dawn but this episode she gives up what uniquely identifies her/ She is the Chosen One but her loving heart will give up being the only one in all the world to defeat evil and give every potential everywhere a chance to become who they are. Think about if you were the one in all the world and you gladly shared your power to everyone with potential. You don’t know if they are good , evil , or lazy. You have given the ultimate act of love, free will gladly to all . Buffy has become the agent of goodness and grace. This is why Willow became the White Goddess Witch. Being the agent with Buffy , Willow is giving without any personal gain the power she has never shared and she feels through Buffy what it means to be a Slayer. Slayers have come and gone for centuries but we’re alone. Buffy has sacrificed so much and now she has freely given what makes her unique to all that want the opportunity. This is not a guarantee but a chance and that is the final live that makes Buffy complete.

Buffy's final words in the whole show were "I love you" and "Spike" Chosen has been repeatedly voted the best finale of all time!! Hope you were happy with it! I hope you'll do Dollhouse next but I really hope you do Tru-Blood as it's an awesome Vampire series for adults that truly revels in the genre and never skimps on the horror! It doesn't have any of the tween angst of Twilight or Vampire Diaries and is always a fantastic polished production!! Enjoy the last series of Angel which most fans' think is hands down the best one! Thanks for all your hard work Kassidy. ❤ Jon from Aus

I watched the original seasons week by week. I have all of the DVD's. I have watched all of the directors/writers/actors special narratives while watching the shows. I have watched the cast get-together. My niece bought me the graphic novel. I love this series. I love the dialogue, the music, the character development and everything else. And, I have loved your reactions. You're smart and insightful and just fun. Thank you!

"Cookie dough is better than cookies" Funny! Funny stuff. Thank you SO MUCH! I love many reactors for many reasons Evil QK, but as I said when I first subbed, no one posts with the frequency you do. So thanks for that. Want more Whedon? There's always "Firefly"(with Nathan Fillion) and "Dollhouse"(with Eliza Dushku)

My favorite moment rewatching this was a few years ago I immediately started back at s1 after and I laughed so hard hearing the gang talk about shopping after saving the world n Giles remarking ‘the world is doomed’

I feel that the intro should have been remade especially for the last episode, featuring parts of all the other seasons in ascending order. Or when it comes to the actor title cards/screens, show them from earlier seasons to this final season quickly. A sort of evolution and celebration of the intro.

Also keep in mind Wolfram & Hart gave Angel that amulet for a reason. They knew what it would do. Nice little padding to the overall story if you watch both shows.

There are comics after this. The next villains were revealed to be Amy, and the skinless Warren she was using magic to keep alive, despite the fact that Willow disintigrated the already-dead body. I kept going, but I gave up when Buffy and Angel had cosmic sex that birthed a new universe, it was just too stupid. I didn't get to the part where Xander and Dawn ar a couple, I found out about that later. I suggest you go to AO3 and read fanfic instead... the fuffy ones un partiuclar.

Such a great finale! Doesn't matter how many times I watch it, I still get choked up when the Slayer power is shared around the world. Buffy, who has always shouldered the burden alone, now has an army of slayers to help her to carry the load. Ugh, I love it so much! RIP to Spike, Anya, and the fallen (former Potential) Slayers. I think you'll like Angel Season 5, it's a good one! As for next show suggestions, I have to go with Firefly, The Good Place, and Veronica Mars.

I've loved your buffy reactions! it's been amazing how fast you have gotten through them! If you haven't seen it i recommend Battlestar Galactica. (mini series and 2004 re-imagining)

Buffy’s finale: We’ve finally grown up. We’re adults now. Angel’s finale: Life is never easy and never fair - but life goes on regardless.

I remember everyone assuming that Andrew was gonna die, as the foreshadowing was set up that way. It made losing Anya, in that way, so much more of a shock

It's funny to think that the show that starts with things like Teacher's Pet and Go Fish ends up here. As for other shows, if you haven't seen the reboot of Battlestar Galactica, that's the way to go. Heavy drama, lots of stress, superior writing and some really great performances, plus a sizable fan base, which always helps.

Congrats on making it to the end of Buffy! Not commented before but I've been watching since around season three and I've loved following your journey. I like how you've always had your own opinions on stuff and weren't necessarily into some of the more popular episodes, even if they are some of my favourites. Hope you enjoy the rest of Angel and wouldn't mind seeing you do Orphan Black (if you haven't already seen it) or Farscape.

Buffy is right, because of her life and her growth as the Slayer she really hasn't had much time to grow as just a woman. She needs to experience life that isn't all apocalypse and death.

Throughout the series, I've grown to love Anya. And I feel hurt when she's hurt because there's just something about her, new but not new to being human, that gives her this unparalleled innocence that rivals Dawn. I will never forget the impact bunnies have with our favorite x-vengeance demon.

I’ve just finished watching you watch Buffy. (Still have angel S5). First off thank you for your time and effort you have out into this. I have watched several reactors, yours are the perfect length and just you enjoying the show. I have thoroughly enjoyed rewatching with you. Thank you again. If you want a quick show that stars Sarah Michelle gellar try the show ringer. It was in in the 2011-2012 tv season about twins. Well it’s about much more but let’s Not spoil. It’s mystery soapy. Lots of twists and turns.

I just want to say that despite the bizarreness and silliness of it, I completely get Buffy’s cookie dough analogy. The sentiment really hits for me given the personal philosophy I believe in and follow. The famous author who wrote the book series “Conversations With God” Neale Donald Walsch once said: “Life is movement. Movement is change. Every time a sub-molecular particle swings through time and space, something is changing. Change, therefore, is inevitable. It is the nature of life itself. The trick in life is not to try to avoid change, but to create change. Then it is the kind of change you choose.” Honestly all I care about is nature, evolution and choice. All other ideals, values, themes, lessons are inconsequential to me. If they’re ever needed, they’re needed only to refine the former, but in my experience, they just complicate and convolute it. All I ever follow seriously and consistently as if they are a religion to me is nature, evolution and choice. Now people think nature and choice contradict. I don’t simply because the definition of nature to me is change itself. There is no permanence to nature except that is ever-changing. And so the reason why choice works with it for me rather than goes against it is because I am continuously choosing my nature by continuously creating my identity and evolution. I’m continuously choosing change over a system. There’s no set pathway for me already laid out to follow because I am creating the pathway as I go along. “One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire Cat in a tree. “Which road do I take?” she asked. His response was a question: “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter.” - Lewis Carroll, ‘Alice In Wonderland”. Buffy doesn’t know where she’s going. But that she’ll go somewhere is enough. That’s something she’s looking forward to now she’s not the only one burdened with being the Slayer and can live her life and be a normal girl. Because now she is. There’s nothing abnormal about her anymore because now every other girl possesses the power that she does. She’s no longer alone in her burden, so can now think of it less as one and more as just something good about her. Something that will aid her in life.

I'm recommending Orphan Black it's a wild ride! OR if you want another one with monsters and stuff then Supernatural or Teen Wolf, although I will warn you Supernatural while Amazing is also 15 seasons! Thank you for your amazing Buffy reactions!
@ShieldVids11 ай бұрын
Why buffy plan is the best character growth. Buffy this season was acting like the council. She treated the potentials like weapons and didn't give them a choice which is exactly what those ancient watchers did to the first slayer. Buffy changes this not only telling the potentials that they get to choose to go down to the hellmouth with her but she shares her power with them breaking the old ways and fully trusts her friends as well. I recommend Agents of shield if you ever get into Marvel. Joss brother is the show runner
