Hey ! (DONT FORGET TO WATCH PT 2) It's This Old Outboard with the Evinrude 25 Hp. I'm Getting Ready to Dock My 15 ft. Dura Craft Jon Boat in the Lake Conway Chain. But I Want to Take Care of a Few Things on the Evinrude Before I Do. The Gear Case is a Mess with Pitting and Corrosion. Just want to Clean it Up and Protect the Aluminum.

after looking at that the way its pitted i was wondering if you could fiber glass it before you laff i fiber glassed a 21 ft starcraft with leaky rivets it worked great hugh diff in performance on the water put 2 layers of cloth lit dry then painted look like new boat

I can honestly say I’ve never seen a lower unit with bondo on it ! Dang I hope it works ! That lower unit looks like it’s a salty! Keep’em coming! SKOL BUD !

Yeah, me either. Hahaha. It's worse than I thought it was too. Just trying to do a quick cleanup on it before I put it on my other boat, if it works, great. If it dont, no big deal, it was fun trying! thx

I’m not working on many outboard motors lately I have switched gears for the winter and am working on snowblowers, just sold 2 today , big snowstorm headed this way , good for me selling but bad cause I’ve got to take care of my driveway. But those 15 hp OMC’s are great and I like the shallow water drive on them . Is your water intake screen gone? That might be the reason your sucking up debris? That motor should be pissing like a race horse . Check out Old Johnny rude channel he’s a friend and very smart ! And chyryleroutboarddude that is also a friend and 2 of the most knowledgeable people on outboard motors !

​@@davekimbler2308 Hey. Sweet deal on the snowblowers, Also I'm sure you have heard of ''Kramden'', anybody whos anybody in the youtube outboard world knows who he is. I think he's a retired service tech or possibly even a teacher, the man is a walking OMC library of manuals. He stops by to ''bust my chops'' from time to time, anyway if you read his comment on the 15, according to him the motor is running/peeing normal for these engines. I would of thought different , well I did think different, thats why I made the video. Anyway, the mans word is Gospel.

We’re landlocked fresh water country up here. If that’s not too bad I’d hate to see bad ! Salt water is hell on equipment.

Hey. I think I have one but I'm going to hang on to it for a future build. You can use one from many different years, it dosent have to be a 64. Your best bet would be ebay. You can get it pretty cheap there. Thx. Stay tuned !

Bondo is not made to be underwater . Fiberglass resin is waterproof and has a harder finish

Oh great, now you tell me! Hahaha Yes, I know all about fiber glass resin from my surfing days. This is just for cosmetics, just a quick, cheapo clean up job, not a restoration. I think once its primed and painted it should last for a while. Its only going to be submerged while using the boat, the rest of the time it will be out of the water. And its a very thin layer. It's a shame people let these things get in that condition to begin with. It's amazing it hasnt affected the inside. A fellow youtuber has offed up a case that isnt corroded, also they can be found on ebay, so if it last a while I'll be happy. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay tuned !

Bondo absorbs water in it’s bare state. my brother owned a Corvette collision and paint shop with a partner in the 1980s.
