By far the best 30 hp on the market. I bought a 30 remote new 5 years ago.It’s a shame Evinrude outboards are done. I’m going to have to keep this one going for the rest of my life.

Same here I have the white saltwater edition electric fully tilt trim push start, got a good deal on it for a thousand bucks on a pallet, someone ran into some rocks or something ended up changing the prop and both driveshafts everything else survived very strong motor. My kids will probably enjoy it once I'm done with it hehe

@@r.seaboats6666 I have that version in remote……It on a 16 ft aluminum side console. Got the motor height dialed in and the boat hits 29 mph.

how do you find the trolling speed for fishing? have you trolled?
@fcpd221367 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use the GPS chart/map on my lowrance it gives me the speed. Just came back from Alabama crappie fishing and ran the motor quite a bit. Ran like a champ....No regrets on this motor..

Just wondering what it's like on gas . I'm running a much older evinrude and I go through a 6 gallon tank in a day of fishing .
@fcpd221369 жыл бұрын
Excalibur4Life I'm very pleased so far with the gas usage that I'm going through. I don't do a lot of W.O.T running. Do a lot of idling looking at structure on the side scan/down imaging. Rumor has it that the etec is the most economical on gas. I seen a website prior to purchasing this motor that showed the test results at different RPM's and the corresponding gas mileage. Might have been on evinrudes website. I spent the extra money on the power tilt. Well worth it IMO. I can see the speed difference by trimming it out on the GPS. I would suspect that helps in the gas mileage. Strongly recommend this motor.

+Excalibur4Life Wanted to update you on the gas mileage. I have been running approximately 14 miles on the Ohio river fishing for cats. I always make sure my 6 gallon tank is full when I'm on the river. After coming off the water I go fill up. I am averaging 2.2-2.5 gallons of usage. This includes alot of wide open throttle and idling looking for new catfish holes. Flat out love this motor!!!!!!

+Amekia Bell Thanks for watching. With 2 I'm hitting just shy of 30mph. I'm still running the factory prop. I have no intention of changing to a different pitch. I can't justify the expense for little to no performance change on a 30hp motor.

I have one also, except mine is dark blue

Thanks for sharing. I am shopping for 30 or 40 HP Etec. Good to hear you have had good experience. Where do you get the oil? Does the engine still needs oil like the 4 stroke? Any other information would be appreciated. Thanks, Pete

+Peter Ratz Thanks for watching the video. I was initially interested in a 40hp too. The dealer actually talked me out of it because of 2 reasons. (1) my boat was only rated up to a 35hp tiller and (2) the additional weight of the 40hp, which is actually the same engine block as the 50hp & 60hp just a smaller carb and the l lower unit is much larger than the 30hp. With all this said I would not necessarily gain any benefit from the 40hp. This saved me over a $1000.00...The 30hp scoots this boat down the water at nearly 30mph on GPS. I purchase the Evinrude synthetic from the dealer by the gallon. Additionally, the oil consumption is very minimal along with the gas. excellent gas mileage!!!! I can find a single thing that I am not happy with motor. I spent the extra money for the power tilt with my 72 y/o father in mind. Figuring if he ever used the boat it would be easier for him to lift the motor for transport. When running at WOT when you bump the tilt button you will see a difference in speed on your GPS. If you can afford spend the extra for power tilt. You'll thank me later. At WOT you don't have to yell at your fishing buddy next to you. You can carry on a normal conversation, it's that quiet. Hope this has helped you. I plan on doing a 1 year review when the time comes...

+fcpd22136 I forgot to add that the oil is direct injected. Just pour the 2 stroke only in the reservoir tank on the side of the motor and it does the rest. The old 2 strokes would smoke enough to kill mosquito's in a 2 mile radius of you. Not this motor, very little smoke..

+fcpd22136 Thank you for your insights. Very helpful. Yes...30 it will be. Looking forward to your next review. I am shopping for a small new skiff to put this motor on it with a counsole.

Its a very nice color, but aside from a change of paint etecs are falling way behind the competition. Pretty sad when new 25hp 4 strokes are 50lbs lighter now.
@Wingnut3537 жыл бұрын
50lbs lighter and much less torque... which is what you need to get out of the hole and on plane. So even being a few lb lighter the 25HP version of this engine is still going to beat it the 25HP 4 storke even being heavier.

Which one is a 25hp 4 strokes which is 50lbs lighter of this e-tec? the e-tec is only 149 lbs

Got one on a 17 aluminum boat. Lost the water pump on it with less than 10 hours on the motor. Went into safe mode getting it to the dock . I think it’s a shit motor and will never buy another
