I have a 30 hp evinrude e teceh marine engine, I start the engine, the engine runs at idle, but the engine lights do not turn off. When I put it into gear, the engine stops.

When transported on his side you need to prime the oil pump, that is the same procedure right? Can you start it up and run it right after this procedure?

I use a large plastic trash can to run my motors over for water. Should I use the muffs when winterizing or is my “tank” ok?

What repairs did you do to the motor if the small holes on each side of the gearcase were not applied.

When spring time comes around what do you do to start it back up? After this process
@1yanny12 жыл бұрын
Just pull the rope or hit the start button. The regular start up routine does not change at all.

Can you winterize at the lake/river with the motor in water without tapping them holes thanks?
@1yanny13 жыл бұрын
Yes. The holes are only taped when using a flushing attachment. The holes cannot be blocked when running the engine in the lake.

I have a 50 hp....do I need to do the tape step?
@1yanny1 Жыл бұрын
No. The venting holes are unique to the 15 H.O, 25 Hp, and 30 hp engines.

I think we accidentally fogged the 25 hp e-tec on the River. Do you have any videos on how to start the motor and run it after we fogged the motor?

Just fire it up and start driving. It will smoke a bit.

@@1yanny1 we did that and it did smoke, but to come and find out that the water pump needs to be replaced.the sensor would keep shutting it down. Thank you for your response

Do you also have to plug those holes if you are using the hose directly screwed in, not the muffs?
@1yanny14 жыл бұрын
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND SCREWING THE HOSE IN TO THE BACK OF THE ENGINE. YOU ARE FORCING THE WATER THROUGH THE SYSTEM BACKWARDS AND THE WATER PUMP IS TRYING TO PUSH IT BACK AGAINST THE FLOW. USE A FLUSHING ATTACHMENT
@m4bassin3984 жыл бұрын
I don’t get what the tape is doing
@1yanny14 жыл бұрын
It is plugging off some holes. If you don't do this, the water pump sucks air, loses prime, runs dry, and melts. You don't necessarily need to know what it is doing but YOU MUST DO IT!!!
@catoublabla97953 жыл бұрын
Hi. Do you have to plug these two holes even when you flush the engine or just when you winterize it? And can you use the hose directly screwed in at the back of the engine when you want to flush without the engine running? Thanks for all.
@1yanny13 жыл бұрын
I live on the prairies in Canada, no salt water around here so I may not be the best one to answer your question. My understanding is the port on the back of the engine is for flushing out the salt water. The engine doesn't need to be running. I have had a number of customers hook a hose up to the flush port on the back of the engine and run the engine. It did result in damage to the water pump. Would this have happened if the holes were plugged down low on the gear case? I'm not sure. I do not think forcing water backwards through the system down to the water pump (which is trying to force it back up to the power head) is a very good idea. Best to do it like the video I posted.
@catoublabla97953 жыл бұрын
@@1yanny1 OK I'll do as in this video, I think it's better for the engine. I've got another question, may I have pictures of the starter connection because I have an electric starter but it is not connected or an electric plan? Thanks.

Hi Ali Brown, there is a latch on the back of the engine's cowling. Pull it towards you then rotate it down. Lift firmly on the back of the cowl to break the seal. Once it moves you have to lift the cowl up and forward at the same time. I hope this helps.

You must live in a much warmer climate. We have freezing temperatures up to 6 months a year. We've been ice fishing since November and there is currently 36" of ice on our lakes. We won't be able to put a boat in the water until May LOL.
