Do I need those 2 small tubes you did at the end ?

I don't have them

You don’t need them per se but it guarantees your pipes enter into the housing. Without them you’ll struggle to know if the tubes lined up and entered the housing right. You can find them on marine engine or eBay for a few bucks. Or are yours maybe sitting on the pipes in the exhaust housing still?

@@Bigp498 0439140 same part number as mine for waterpump kit. You can buy the tubes though from main part list. Tube number is: 314081 and 314765. Ones just short the other is long. Shouldn’t matter. Mine are both long. It just helps you guide the pipes into the right location when reinstalling lower unit. Here’s link for your year and part numbers. Then hunt on eBay. www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1974&hp=85&model=85493B
