Someone on twitter called this actual gay club music and I fully agree. Like most people think Somi's "Fast Forward" is gay club music (it is but I'd argue heavily commercialized) but as someone who's been intoxicated at a gay bar and disassociating on the dance floor, I've for sure heard more songs that sound like this than the other. I want them to go even cuntier and would love to see them pursue cunt noise music with amazing rappers/vocalists. They have Park Hanbin, like c'mon, if there's one idol that can pull off cunt noise music it's him.

For me seeing Jihoo here was so special, i was so excited when I first saw the lineup cause his last stage on Boys Planet...a wee baby icon. ANYWAY club hit banger from Evnne, they waited for sure to go opposites with ZB1, makes it much harder to directly compare in many ways

On a more serious note, I'm pretty satisfied with their debut and I look forward to their growth. Everyone shined but for some reason I find myself paying particular attention to Mun Junghyun. There's something so enchanting about his tone, and he seems like he had the biggest glow up from boys planet out of all of them.

As a Yunseo bias (which really isn’t a credential but I’m gonna act like it is lol) I have felt that since the beginning of BP he has been a hidden/lowkey babygirl that has strong masc energy when performing… like his personality while on stage vs off stage is vastly different.. now granted he had barely any screen time during BP so this is a lot of conjecture on my part

It's SO interesting that you point that ZB1 parallel, I hadn't made that connection. But also I did notice, on my first watch, that move they do at 11:44 is VERY similar to the In Bloom choreo, when it goes into the final chorus, with them all gathered around in a circle around another member. It did feel like an intentional reference. Girl, the BP soup opera continues. I am SEATED!

Your reaction is near exactly what mine was going into this COMPLETELY blind (haven't really watched Boys Planet). Watch the dance practice if you haven't already. Hanbin is my bias and Keita is my bias wrecker for sure

These boys were a HAIR away from debuting in ZB1. Park Hanbin finished at #11, just 2 spots away from Yujin... Keita was #12, Lee Jeonghyeon was #15, and Seungeon was #16... they were SO close. I truly believe that Mnet would have released the interim voting results like they did before the finale of Girls Planet so that fans could panic vote Park Hanbin and Keita into the group, but they knew that releasing the interim votes might put Yujin at risk of dropping out of the top 9 (who they wanted to debut), and give Jay a chance of debuting (who they didn't want in ZB1 and finished at #10).

No bc THIS. The pain when the top 9 was announced was REAL, literally all my picks were out: Keita, Jungwoo, Jay, Hanbin (this Hanbin), SEUNGEON OMG.. Let's not go even with the INJUSTICE of mnet with others likeJihoo, Yunseo and my forever trauma: Wumuti. I'm so happy that we have EVNNE and Jay + Jungwoo (and other members) project coming. Mnet did release interim rankings, but they did so selectively. They showed Sung Hanbin 3rd, Phanbin 10th and Kim Taerae 11th. It helped raise Shanbin to 2nd and Taerae got panic voted to 6th, shoving Jay out of debut range. I do think they would've liked Phanbin in debut range to get more of their own (WakeOne) in, for some reason it just didn't work for him.

I saw someone on tiktok say that Trouble is nkotb's (New Kidz On The Block by ZB1) evil twin and I thought that was so funny but it makes sense when you think about it. From a logistical point jellyfish is purposefully reaching out to a different audience when doing a concept so different. Also the Switch thing is 100% intentional, one of their bsides has a move from the Switch choreo! As a Switch enthusiast and a Park Hanbin p01 and Keita p03 person (Taerae was my p02) I'm so happy with this. I feel like every post bp group fits into one of their original songs like ZB1 is Say My Name, EVNNE is Switch, the RBW boys with Hiroto have claimed En Garde, I'd say TIOT is probably Supercharger but realistically it's just Wang Zihao.

So very down for you guys reacting to all of the Boys Planet alumni, wherever they pop up. Definitely wanna see what you think of Lee Seunghwan's solo! I think this group has real potential. Keita and Jihoo are actual stars, this is a STRONG rapline. Park Hanbin is gonna make sure the dancing is on point, they have solid vocals and some good variety people. Everyone carries their wheight pretty well. I really hope they get to grow into a style of their own, and not just be "not zb1". They don't have positions (I think kpop has kind of abandoned positions ever since around txt?) But to me Park Hanbin reads as the center and Lee as their main visual. I'd say Keita is what used to be referred to as Face of the Group, on top of being the leader. He is arguably the most well known at this point. My early bias is Keita, he got most of my votes in the final week, and my wrecker is definitely Jihoon. Guys, watch the Limousine stage again, it's incredible.

Overall I like it! My butt was involuntary shaking. It reminds me a little of Ado’s songs. I also literally gasped when I saw Lee Jeonghyeon during the 2nd pre-chorus chorus. Yunseo surprised me the most. I loved his parts. Jihoo also shocked me. And OMG, Hanbin’s hair does remind me of Kelly Rowland! Was trying to figure out who he reminded me of.
