Glad to hear that. We need more passionate players like you in the FGC. 1 hour is pretty far away from Walnut, but if you can ever make it, I promise you it's worth the trip. There's few places that have as many concentrated top-level players in one place than Super Arcade, for a variety of games. Round 1 is a nice place, but can be quite pricey for all the entertainment that they offer.

When Mao does a wall dive, he has such pixel perfect spacing and timing where even if you input a DP, he'll switch sides on you, and the game will mis-interpret your input, and you'll get beat. Beginner/intermediate claws are unable to do this, and so its fairly easy to reversal them using Old shotos.

Over 20 years old and still the best fighting game in the world. If they fixed some of the BS like vegas wall dive crossup and refined some of the other things I would never play another fighting game again (now I don't really play any). Its sheer genius and all the stages, music, character designs are how we all remember as kids. This was the last true version of the street fighter there ever was, but thankfully it was also the best and will last a lifetime.
@MGSBigBoss779 жыл бұрын
Dynamic3DLtd Thank you Dynamic3DLtd, well said. Some might say its 3rd Strike, but to so many more it'll always be; ST which was Capcom's apex with the whole SF series!. I just wish; Capcom would've given the original ST a proper HD treatment as they've done with "3rd Strike Online Edition" and abandon the crappy HDRemix David Sirlin gave people and what some folks download play off of; 'Xbox Live Arcade' and 'PSN'. ST needs a REAL release as its own edition, a remastered "last edition" with a HD boost in picture quality and a; 5.1./7.1 remix with its audio. With the latest features for a modern day digital re-release on consoles, for both current and previous gen (360, PS3 and on; PS4, Xbox One). like; Training Modes, Survival Mode, Edit Feature (change clothing appearance), World Tour mode (face everybody/roster) lobbies, GGPO connection, KZbin Matches upload capability etc. Reckon that'll be pretty sweet if Capcom wanted to clear the air with ST and give it a grand send off with a final version for the 'purists' out there globally etc.

Awesome. I'm glad you're getting back into ST. GGPO is a good source for online ST play, and a lot of players on there are very strong. If you're blessed to be living in Socal or near NY, you have access to strong local competition, which I highly recommend you go to. I consider Ryu to have a perfect design in ST. He's very strong all-around, but has tough matchups against the top tiers, but he has all the tools he needs to win even his bad matchups. Claw still beats up shotos pretty bad
@eltrouble12 жыл бұрын
T.Hawk was largely considered bottom tier in the US for a LONG time. It wasn't until a 2-man T.Hawk team in Japan nearly won SBO, that people started to notice him. There's quite a LOT of tech that was developed for T.Hawk, all of which is very difficult to execute, but he's one of the deadliest characters in the game if you get knocked down. Sadly, here in America, majority of players just stick to the top tier and rarely explore mid-to-bottom tiered characters in any fighting game.

CRT tube tvs, have no input lag. LCD tvs can have a frame or two lag, it is hard to notice but in high level fighting like this it does make a difference. Plus they are playing on actual CPS2 hardware, which outputs 240p, you would have to upscale that on an LCD and it would look like crap.

cant understand why nobody had a plan B against vega aka balrog...if a player is very good with vega/bison, you NEED to stand against him with a fighter, who can do fireballs for the distance-reach disadvantage, to force him to jump or do his wall jump, and when he does, you need to have a fighter with quick jumping backwards, while kicking to create distance again, and fireballs again over and over...so i allways would choose against vega aka balrog a fighter like ken, ryu, chun li or dee jay...wonder nobody does that in the final rounds against him

It's arguable whether or not HDR is more balanced, but I see your point. HDR had many changes which were either good, terrible, or sounded good on paper but not on execution. Vega is still extremely powerful in ST, but we've just sort of learned to deal with it. It forces players to develop more effective strategies against him. Anyways, a lot of division was created by HDR which split the community, with many guys supporting one game over the other. Lack of tourney support hurt HDR.
@kevin9339 жыл бұрын
Wow Vega is ridiculous. I don't play st, but how is Vega acceptable? It just seems like his moves are faster, have better reach, his walk speed is better than any other character, and he has the super ambiguous left/right/throw from the air mix up, where even if you guess right and block, he's too far away to punish. Not looking to start a war, I'm just curious for some in-sight from a st player who can explain his weaknesses.

@a1337turtle8 жыл бұрын
+Brad Tyler Why do you feel that Claw is mid-tier?
@thejunkmanlives8 жыл бұрын
***** st is better balanced then some of the later games. dont act like chun doesnt dominate 3 and even in 4 a lot of the cast isnt viable. st is open enough were u can still do well with bad characters. Zangief is bottom tier in st and still maintains the ability to destroy people. Low tiers in other games cant do that.
@thejunkmanlives8 жыл бұрын
***** if u actually play st u noe whats better balanced. Any tier shifts u see is totally based on specialist that change the prescription of the player base and this is only possible due to superior mechanics. Nothing in 3 or 4 will change.
@Obsidian4518 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Theriault Vega is definitely one of the top characters in ST, arguably the strongest, even. The strengths you've listed are all well taken, and players like MAO and Noguchi use them to their highest potential. Of course, Vega isn't unbeatable, even at top level play. He actually has a very short throw range compared to lots of other characters, and he needs charge to get his Scarlet Terror off as a reversal. Hence, he can be susceptible to close-range mixups if an opponent can get in. This is especially problematic against characters with really good inside games (like Balrog, Dee Jay, and even E. Honda). Once they get up close and pin Vega down, they can pressure him with normals, ambiguous jump-ins and cross-ups, throw mixups, etc. Although this can be tough to do, as Vega is still very slippery and can still use reversal throw and Scarlet Terror to counter, it's still a strategy that can cause Vega problems.

I'd love for HF to come back, but it ain't happening. I actually prefer HF over any other version of SF2. Super SF2 is pretty damn fun on the SNES, since you can turn up the speed on that version, and make it as fast as HF. But WW and CE were way too broken. Whoever won in WW is the guy who managed to pick Guile first, and CE bison is like a Marvel character in an SF game. I've yet to see any character in any game get as nerfed as badly as Bison was between CE and HF.
