I think James Chen mentioned something about being really excited about getting a chance to commentate Melee since he's always been a big fan of the game. Prog + D1 speak so little while their choice of words say so much. Really their knowledge is impeccable.

Toward the end of game one, he did start jumping into Armada's attacks when it wasn't safe. And game two, he jumped off the stage too aggressively. He was playing amazingly aside from this, but he did get hit much more than he needed to.

Shield drop. When you're shielding on the platform, if you move the stick down a little bit, you'll do that. It has to be farther down than just aiming the shield, but not as far as a spot dodge.

hopefully m2k doesn't quit. back to back important SDs at nationals and he always takes these kinds of things so hard. for those of you who don't remember he also SD'd versus PP in LF during apex which pretty much cost him the set (iirc he gimped PP while he was at 0% but then SD'd immediately. You're not gonna beat M2k with 4 stocks vs your 3 as a spacie on FD)

Its so that he's less likely to alienate non-smash playing viewers. He's probably going to need the other commentator to explain stuff to him that he doesn't know, thus explaining it to the viewer. 2 experienced smash commentators are more often than not going to throw out inside joke/ community terms like "tournament winner" and "east/west coast DI" and "gentleman" that some people will have no clue about.

No he didn't. The only large mistake he made first game was that SD. He was playing extremely well onstage possibly better than he ever has. He has never scrapped and played footsies so well. Really he played amazing first game, all of his options and spacing was on point and he was even cognizant of armada's DI (using fair survival DI to kill him with a uair) honestly hats off to him. He fell apart a little second game and I think it was a mistaking going Marth. He gets too down on himself.

***** There's playing defensively... Then there's camping ledges like mad the moment he's at any sort of deficit. It makes matches very boring to watch when he does it. Whether it's moral or not has nothing to do with my point. Imagine watching football, or soccer (wherever you're from) and the moment one team had a lead, they just wasted as much time as possible to win by running down the clock instead of playing the game. Actually, if I remember right, didn't M2K do this as Metaknight in Brawl? Wasn't that one of the reasons MK was banned as well as rules put in place against ledge camping?

Arstulex MK was never banned, I'll start with that. Also, in games like Football (I don't know about soccer) It actually is a legitimate strategy to run out the clock. And I respect it a lot because it puts a lot of pressure on the opponent. M2K in particular has a play style that is very...bi-polar, for lack of a better word. M2K will take the lead in the match and camp the ledge. Because of his nearly unparalleled ability to gimp his opponents when he's at the ledge, people will often respect him and refuse to approach him. Once he has his opponents respect, he'll suddenly switch to a hyper aggressive play-style and catch his opponents off guard, generally with a ledge dash onto the stage into a grab. His ability to alter the pace of the match on his own terms is what allows him to overwhelm his opponents, and it's why he is the 3rd or 4th best player in the world right now.

Arstulex Not only that, but you seem to think that he camps only when he's at a deficit, which simply isn't true. In fact, when you're at a deficit the worst thing you can possibly do is camp, or else you'll lose...you're opponent has no reason to approach you if they're winning. It's like getting stabbed and just letting yourself bleed out instead of finding a way out of said life-threatening situation.

if u play Zelda on a decent level, it is so frustrating. maybe even the most frustrating character in the game. her attacks are so weak in how much dmg they give and also the distance they send people. even characters like peach can seem imba imba dmg and distance thrown against her. i have always picked peach/zelda and nowadays find myself playing peach/marth because zelda is 100% finesse/skill and peach/marth/fox/etc just seem to have the RNG go their way so much more

Oh yeah, zelda is slower than those chars. I like fast chars like falcon or falco. If you want to be and egdehog, use peach, marth or sheik, if your love hard combos, use falco, fox or falcon. That's the way you should choose, anyways you'll be killed by an edgehog, Hard skills won't work on this case.

Armada really has that advantage with peach... M2ks Sheik and marth are both amazing off the map but against peach and her unfair float, it's hard to finish her off, m2k is more skilled imo

Nickt97 Please tell me you're kidding? Peach is SO much harder to play at a high level than Marth and Sheik. Peach has the worst MUs against the high tier characters, only having an advantage against ICs and going even with Falco. Marth has the MU advantage vs. Peach due to outranging her with nearly everything. Also, it's not hard to finish her off, she's a floaty and lightweight, making her VERY easy to kill off the top. The reason M2K was getting late kills was because he wasn't tipping his hits with Marth and Dreamland has a high ceiling (easier for Peach to live). Lastly, if you look at the history between these two, Armada has won against M2K way more. Armada is definitely better at Melee. He's been placing higher than M2K in the grand scheme of things.
