Great vid! Good details on the evo. What made you decide to go with Link ECU? Can’t wait to finish mine.
@boostedchrys15 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! To be honest I was looking for the ecu that I can easily understand and tune. I had some experience with previous version link g4+ ecu's, and when they released the new link g4x I decided to download the program first to see if I can understand and tune it myself. However after I purchased it I found out that the ecu had couple glitches/issues but after contacting link they released the ecu update and it is working perfect since.

Nice build list. I went smaller on compression 9.0.1
@boostedchrys16 күн бұрын
Still great, with lower compression you have bigger window for tuning especially if you ever want to run pump gas. I went with high compression on this motor because I am using e85 only and I wanted to squeeze every possible hp but of course tuning window is pretty small and I was very careful while tuning it.
@EVO_IX16 күн бұрын
@@boostedchrys I just recently rebuild my motor too it was on 10.5:1 but they only had 9.1 in stock so I went with that. I will be running pump gas mostly and sometimes e85. 2.3 stroker same turbo. Looking to make 850+

What headgasket did you use? I believe you showed a block with firering grooves in it.
@boostedchrys14 күн бұрын
I used OEM evo 9 headgasket but I installed steel O-rings with very low protrusion in the block. Sorry I think I forgot to mention this in the video. Machine shop made groves for me and I installed springy steel o-rings.

Hey! Your video is giving me inspiration for my evo 9 build. I just up an original ams t3 hta 3582 turbo kit . Did you use the slim rad for turbo clearance?
@boostedchrys13 күн бұрын
Hey, Yes I use the slim radiator because with full size radiator the 6466 turbo was touching it. Do you still have the ams t3 manifold with 5 bolt downpipe? I had this design and I modified it to be V band downpipe and I added wasegate on the side. Good luck with the build !!!
@zipone_172613 күн бұрын
@boostedchrys yes , but I can't find a gasket for this 5 bolt down pipe. It also has the old 2 bolt waste gate flange. I hope this turbo set up clears my stock rad
@boostedchrys12 күн бұрын
@@zipone_1726 This is the gasket if I am correct. The problem with this setup is those gaskets like to burn in center from wasegate hole to the exhaust. I had this same setup and also was with 2 bolt waste gate flange. Hope it will have a clearance to yout radiator bullboostperformance.com/products/t3-t4-5-bolt-graphite-downpipe-gasket-turbo-manifold-for-garrett-universal?variant=42898352177372&country=US¤cy=USD&srsltid=AfmBOopq0a0hukK-4v0DFHWYL2c3KDUTDUQcBDDN2i5u0cjIWT6Sb-_qu-U&gQT=1

@boostedchrys may i ask did you use the washers that come with the kit ?
@boostedchrys16 күн бұрын
@@bmwe-op4jx No I did not. This size washers are sinking in aluminum head they are too small. I used oversized washers that actually were a little too big so I had to machine them to be just perfect. I don't remember the part number of those washers out of my head but I should find it somewhere in my garage.

Did he say concrete half the block?? Can some one explain
@boostedchrys16 күн бұрын
Yes I used Moroso Engine block filler. You just fill the engine block with this concrete. I did 1/2 fill so I can drive on the street with no issues. Some people do full fill for racing application only.
@Anfurnyy16 күн бұрын
When you feed these engines lots of boost the cylinder walls can deflect, causing excessive blowby and eventually crack, even being cast iron. Half fill helps reinforce the backside of the cylinder walls while keeping it watercooled. Around 800-900 wheel/ 600-700lb/ft is where this starts to happen.
