If you are gonna build the trans, keep the 6 speed. The 6 Speed has smaller shorter gears which makes them weaker. If you are going forged gears with longer gear ratio's it would be ideal to have 6 gears for the street. Obviously if you going drag car, 5 speed, but I really prefer the 6 speed for street driving and highway driving. Get a good set of gears and syncro's, and if you need to get a sturdier transfer case(some people complain about the transfer case? Ive never had issues with mine).. Many shops have great solutions for 6-speed upgrades to beef it up.
@ChrisGoorbarry4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm very interesting! Never thought about upgrading the 6 since everyone always just swaps to the 5 speed. I'll definitely look into it!! very curious now!
4 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisGoorbarry Shep and Jacks both have great 6-speed strengthening options. Shep's basic build is built to hold around 650whp and 500+tq if my memory serves me right. But that was years ago, they may have even better and stronger options now. Def check out the forums.

dc5 build would be sweet.. You can make a dc5 handle better than the double wish dc2-4's.. As the lap times prove between the 2 cars.. And proper dc5 builds are far more rare. I have an 8 and a TYpe S.. I did my Dc5 right.. No slamming. LSD, Fortune Auto coils, hardrace bushing kit, hasport mounts, Progress rear and Eibach front sways, with ce28's wrapped in ExtremeContacts.. Thing handles like a champ! The only thing Im gonn abe working on is the slight wheel hop and slight torque steer. Its not bad at all, but Im contemplating how to deal with them.

I couldn't agree more lol!! next up 600hp next week haha and thanks bro!
4 жыл бұрын
Nah 400+whp on an Evo is a hell of a lot of fun, especially with that TQ number. How many people use 500-600whp on the street fully with a full pull? Barely no one and barely ever. The times I could do a full 500whp 3rd or 4th gear pull were super rare. I prefer torque over HP. On e85 I was making around 530whp.. I havent filled up with e85 in a long time. I make close to 450 on my 93 pump tune and is MORE than enough. My 8 is also super light, around 2750. I actually added MORE sound deadening, but the rest of the car is all weight reduction. No rear seats, carbon hood, trunk, full 3inch titanium piping and exhaust. Its incredibly light, but the rattling, vibes and noise annoyed me from he stiffer mounts and bushings, so I had the whole frame done over with Dynamat.. It actually didnt weight THAT much, but has really improved drive quality inside the cabin. I can actually listen to my radio and talk to people normally.
