Every EVO owner says this! Everybody can't be wrong. I wonder why H-D dropped this engine on the Big Twin. At least the Evo is still on the Sportster. I wouldn't have a Sportster if it didn't. Long live the EVO!

@@boomerguy9935 The sportster frame is only so big and if they created a Twin Cam Sportster or a Milwaukee 8 Sportster They would have to change up the frame. People like the sporty the way it is. Also the Sporty engine is much different than the Big Twins because it's Unit Construction. The Unit Construction also limits how big the jugs get before they have to change up the frame Geometry.

In the early 2000s, we bought a brand new Harley Davidson Twin Cam Fatboy. The Wife & I loved that bike. Back then our payments were $350 a month. a short time after we bought the FatBoy I got laid off from my job. We decided we had to get out from under those HD payments, so we sold the Fatboy. As a experienced Machinist, I soon found a new job and we saved our dollars and pennies until we had enough to by a used Harley Davidson FatBoy with cash. We were lucky to find a Bad Ass Fatboy owned by a Los Angles Police Officer who was asking $10,000 for a Custom 1992 Fatboy, with Harley Davidson Factory 57' Chevy Blue & Cream paint, Fat Bob tanks, PM wheels & Disk brakes and a stock Evo 80ci motor and cobra long shots pipes. After a little negotiation and whipping out an $8,000 stack of one hundred bills, the Bike was ours! 20 years later and attending the Sturgis Bike Rally for 17 years, we are still riding our 1992 FatBoy and still loving that Evo.

I always see people talking about how Evo’s in softails vibrate but I came from a sport bike back ground and the vibration of my Evo motor in my buell really made me fall in love with it. It was just so different and felt so right. Just picked up my first real Harley a 97 softail heritage. Rode it once this winter when I picked it up then put it straight in the garage to clean up the mess of the bike it was from previous owners.

I relate to you because I work out of my garage as well, wrenching on anything mechanical since I was 13. In fact I built my own motorcycle from scratch at 13. So... you can see how I relate to your channel and thought process. I have a 93 EVO Lowrider, I already told you about. And am restoring my old 1970 stock Sportster. ST, I ride a 1985 FXRS, 165K on the EVO, top end rebuild at 100K, new cam, lifters and pushrods at 140K, oil and filter change every 2500 miles, great engine, do my own work with some help from friends, riding a antique and knowing every nut and bolt puts a smile on my face, this bike , up grade the suspension and brakes would be my only suggestion. SaddleTramp, you are absolutely right about enjoying the ride and not feeling like you have to blister the tarmac every time you ride. I am in love with my 1999 FLSTC! If I want speed, I will hop on my R6. I don't really understand dumping $10k to soup up a Harley, just to get smoked by a 600cc rocket. If you want fast, buy a 2nd bike that is just that and keep your old Evo and ENJOY THE RIDE! Listen to your inner voice & God bless 🙌🏽

I've been saving up and decided what I really wanted was a big twin touring with the evo motor and I wanted one that was blue. It was what I wanted and lo and behold! Craigslist amarillo where I live, a 96 ultra classic Electra glide appeared!! The most amazing color of blue! My favorite color and it is clean! The cleanest old bike I have ever seen! 56,000 miles. Owned by the same guy for twenty years until he passed in 2015. He took great care of it. You can sure tell he really loved this bike. When he got sick, his wife wanted to sell it but he wouldn't. Not as long as he was breathing! I bought this bike yesterday Feb 10, 2021 and I paid 5500 for it. Exactly half of what I have saved up to buy it. It's still winter but she started right up when the temperature was 18 degrees and she idled perfectly!! Yes! I bought it immediately!! Evo motor, fuel injected and no leaks! 5500 was a really good asking price and no....I did not try to talk him down! Not one penny! I actually felt badly that I was able to get it so cheap! I'm gonna take it up to Tripp's harley here in amarillo let them go through it and change all the fluids and check it over for me to make sure it's ready for the road. But I'm unbelievably happy!!!!

I swear just this morning I was talking to a buddy at work who rides an Evo and he was explaining to me about how it calmed down his riding. I was explaining back to him that my M8 114 Street Glide kinda makes me want to ride crazy ...I guess just cuz the power is available and it boosts my ego. I hate to admit but I like when people stop at red lights and look at my bike. But you know what, I have loved motorcycles long before I liked people looking at my motorcycle... I love Evo's, I own 2, 85 FXRS and a 96 Road King. Both carbureted and can do everything I want with no computer except for asking Google questions once in a while. Did the R from the ground up, only thing I couldn't do was the lower end of the engine. Stay in the wind, love your videos.

What caught my attention when I found your channel and subscribed a couple of months ago is your down to earth home and bikes. I feel bad that I don't have a spotless garage for the 99 Softail and 02 Road King like what I thought everyone else has. Your home and garage looks so welcoming with treasures around the outside. Right there with ya. I have a 2003 softail and I ride it totally different then my 103. Its sweet spot is 75mph and the 103 is 85mph so I hear ya regarding speed, rpm and enjoying the ride. Keep it rolling my friend

Mr.Tramp, I started riding in the late 70's. I started off with a 1978 Super Glide. 1200cc/74ci motor then bought an early 1984 sportster(last iron head) before the new evolution motors. My friends and I would spend hours and days working on our bikes back in the day. In a garage like yours. All together wrenching. Lots of good times and some bad times. Got about 60,000 miles on my Nostalgia with the stock seat. I put a couple black pot holders between my rear seat and my Fender so I don't scratch my Fender. I run it solo a lot of times. That bike is like my 95 it has a frame mounted motor. No rubber mounts. You're going to have vibration.

1994 FLSTN/FLSTS Rocks Brother! ... I just finished replacing all the seals as far as main shaft seal, shifter shaft seal, 5th gear seal, transmission top cover and side cover gaskets, Main shaft spacer, shaft race and all the primary seals and inner bolts and all ... and now have zero leaks thank God ... the only thing that I may do next spring is getting me a new set of exhaust pipes ... This bike does really Rock! and I'm glad you are seeing this bike and giving complements to it exactly like what I wanted to hear man! ... As far as who you are ... ? that is why I watch your videos from beginning to end man ... because it has a real working and true thoughts character to it ...and not some kind of commercial ... keep it real as you have been bro ... thank you again for an other great video .. and hellos fro Mt. Pretty much the same seat that is on my 2002 softtail. I plan on getting my 01 FLHRCI Road King up and running and trade it or sell it to buy an Evo a bike I can work on. I am sorry I ever bought these twin cams I didn't know how much computerized junk was on them. My 72 FLH is like a big riding lawn mower when it comes to working on it. Had it 31 years and will keep it until I am gone. Great video thanks.

That seat looks great and so does your bike. I can tell that you and your lady put a lot of old fashioned love and care into your machines, and from hearing you speak that you have a vey good heart. You remind me of brothers I've had that are long since gone, never to return. A coupla years ago I sold an '02 Twin Cam Softtail Springer that I only kept for 2mos because both my wife and I hated it. When the buyer saw my '72FLH and '97 Wideglide parked alongside the Twin Cam, he wanted to buy both of them instead of the Twin Cam. I almost had to pay him to haul the Twin Cam off after that. Love your channel man, im not much of a wrench, that's how I found ya. I inherited my stepdads 96 ultraglide and had a bunch of cosmetic stuff done to it, removed fairings put different bars on it. Put about 300 miles on it and started leaking oil from my rear head and started leaking fuel... Anyhow I decided to do the work myself and searched Evolution motors on you tube and POW been watching your videos ever since.. Stay safe and keep up your content..

I owned a 1999 low rider with the EVO, man I miss that engine easy to work on and the fantastic Harley Potato-Potato exhaust note it surely could make and you could idle her down or up with a screwdriver on the carburetor and I would just listen to the beat it would make and with the hand choke under the tank that you controlled...Man that was motorcycling . Now today I have a 2014 streetglide with all kinds electronic gadgets and no more true Potato-potato, time surely moves on, every now and then I keep a eye out for a EVO Wideglide hope to find a nice one, one day You have good honest content channel with a guy with a good personality .

sold my shovel years ago and bought a new Evo in '91 and never looked back. I also have a twin cam Heritage and it's a great bike but if I'm headin out to ride without my OL it's the Evo. I was wrenchin at a indy shop for 2 years till it closed and I worked on a lot of shovels not only are the newest ones 35 yrs old and need a lot of money thrown at them. Like Paul B sez the Evo is all the fixes the shovel needed.

1993 FLHS Electra Glide H-D 28 years young, Rides good, comfortable, clean, and powerful enough for me. Started riding back in 1961, at the age of rip old age of 6, Sixty years on Motor Bikes, with only a coup of words to say about all thought years behind Bars (Handle Bars that is), Love it. And I know you do too, other wise you wouldn't be here do what you obviously love to do too. Hope we can share a Campfire or two sometime along the way. I've always wanted a 90's Softail with the Evolution engine. I haven't gotten the Softail but I've been fortunate to have ridden one and I loved how smoothly it rode. It was like flying down the highway on a cloud to me compared to my Japanese "cruiser" which is more of a do it all machine, high performance, solid braking, viable cruiser, suitable for 2 up riding and fairly comfortable. That's the '82 Yamaha XJ1100J Maxim. Well, I finally had the $ and the opportunity to buy a Harley-Davidson and my first ever V-Twin at the same time and the seller was less than a mile away from home and the bike is a super clean well cared for '94 Dyna Wide Glide. It has much of the look I was going for in wanting a softail and someday I will still work towards getting an Evo Softail. The Evolution big twin and the Sportsters are the only HD engines I ever want to bother with and with some tooling on it it will be all the performance I want or need from a cruiser. For now I expect it is a stock machine orher than the Arlen Ness air cleaner. If I want a speedier V-Twin for now I just picked up another bike I've wanted for decades for the look and it came from the factory with a good 30+ horsepower more than the Evo 80 from a Honda Shadow VT1100C. I'm diving headlong back into motorcycles amd riding and actually getting my adult sons into fixing bikes and learning to ride on the old '73 Yamaha Enduros I've had kicking around for decades. Now once they're up to stepping up to a bigger street bike I have 4 of them that are completely capable of long distance rides and we're decided on making the 700+ mile ride to Sturgis soon. Probably next year so we can ride with the CVMA chapter I'm looking to patch into as a full member.

I believe that what you have done is make people realize that your a true lover of motorcycles and wanted to shear your journey on what you put together on this project of this soft tail. people came and subscribed because they were interested on your mission and you did that, and me as a rider have to say after all the videos you made you also made some new friends from all over, and no matter who you are and what your past was. Nothing matters more then you showed everyone and sheard your project and we came as far friends to see you do it. That's a lot if you ask me. Great video and outstanding ending to this story of that Evo soft tail. Hope to see more ML&R My brother 👊

Great vid brother!! I owned an '86 Heritage, best damn bike I ever owned and road. Had a '90 Police Special that came damn close!! I've ridin' them all except for a knuckle. Sure miss them EVO's!! Stay safe brother.

This video got me searching for an answer and I found it. Your '94 sounds so relaxed at 70mph. My '92 FatBoy howls like a banshee. After some Googling, turns out my '92 has a 70 tooth rear pulley while the '93 and up has a 61 tooth rear pulley. This puts your rpm 13% lower than mine at any speed in the same gear. My '92 running 70mph is like yours running just over 80mph. It answers the question why some find their Evo's vibration intolerable while others don't. I took mine out yesterday for a 20 mile ride at 60mph at the rpm yours runs at 70mph. Not bad at all. Now I have a new project to fulfill.

First vid I saw was your swap for the evo. Knew you were smart then. No other bike is like an evo. Working on my 98 FLHTCUI Ultra is a joy, and riding is a dream. I don't recall how I found your channel. I stuck around because you seem like a decent fellow. My "new" Road King will be 20 in December, so it isn't quite an antique. It is my first Harley Davidson and it has its own issues that will pop up eventually. For now, I just ride it like a grandpa with slow, lazy shifts and comfortable trips. With the factory exhaust, it doesn't have the deep rumble of yours, but it's pleasing to me. I did my racing many years ago. Now I just want to watch the world.

Variety is the spice of life my friend, nothin wrong with mixing big twins with sportsters. Keep adding stock to the stable. Start a thread for each bike, it’s cool stuff. I hope it does you well.
