I had one of the basic of Evo m4s and I mean as basic as a bag of chips..... It worked but needed a better barrel, hop rubber and nub the rotary hop unit worked and it needed a bigger spring but I did here that these etcs things were a shit show! KEEP IT SIMPLE, KEEP IT SWEET

After watching a shit-ton of these videos, I'm totally gobsmacked the airsoft community puts up with sub-standard crap that needs re-working to be reliable. The QC is awful, I mean, the Chinese make f*king Nerf blasters with better quality than a lot of the far more expensive airsoft stuff I've watched Luke swear at.

I just finished a 200fps nerf springer conversion, (including changing the ammo type and building a sealed brass breech), equivalent to an airsoft sniper build, for a total cost of £50. I shudder to think how much I've spent on my cyma AK! But seriously, if you have to swap out parts, add a new hop unit, motor, and get it reshimmed, is a cheap airsoft gun still cheap? It'd be cheaper long-term if they just made ones that worked oob! 🤑

@@FelixstoweFoamForge Yeah, but the market demands "good enough", not "fantastic". ASG did well with their Scorpion Evo I think from a QC perspective, but that had a price to match and the immense supply chain that ASG has. Not saying the Evo is perfect though.

I've seen some people say the Devgru DG-74 I have is an Evolution gun. But it's hard to find anything else about it. Maybe they're all made in the same Shenzhen factory. The barrel did an impression of a German army G36. It's bent down enough that it cracked the cast-in 'gas tube' and misaligned the foregrip. It's probably still a better 'game' gun than anything else I have that's far fancier. Because inspite of it all - and sounding like someone banging on a lambeg drum full of glass and rusty nails. it somehow shoots consistently - once I figured out how to make it feed. Clean the trigger contacts, take it slow and it runs.

I had one myself first game day motor Burt out. I'm 99% positive it's the full cycle completion feature on the etu turned it on so the 3 round burst would fire 3 rounds without having to hold the trigger down. Got jammed somehow and the etu clearly has no cutout if the cycle doesn't Finnish

I hate stuff that tries to use complex single/2 button programming systems. Especially buttons that also do other stuff (say... A trigger and safety-selector switch) They're always an absolute pain to actually use, there's no way to get anything done without the manual, and half the time you can't even be totally sure it's actually set the way you intended

Say a bloke has a g&p I5 gearbox. They have some sort of etu/MOSFET and they don't do well with a lot of semi auto work. Could a person use a warhead motor with it ? Would a person be better replacing the standard etu with a perun ?

I have a bit of experience with the Evolution ETU and they are very hit or miss. The evolution replicas without the etu are good basis for builds and I have had good success with them in multiple builds for people.

I can only say good things about them really. A few things maybe: They are really happy with a 11.1v, not so much with 7.4v. The bolt release is a bit flimsy. Nothing else really, performance is good, I only upgraded the bucking to a TNT TR-hop bucking. It was intented as a back-up gun but with the nice weight and performance it started to become more of a primary. I bought it at TaiwanGun. If you need more info about it then you can only find online, I recommend the Pheas Airsoft KZbin Discord. I think it is one of the few out of the box AEG with a mosfet that doesn't fry by the 11.1v lipo. Like, with an 11.1v it has good enough performance for 85% of the people who plays or want to play airsoft. While the Cyma platinums are also great, the Double Eagles are more affordable and have a far more reliable mosfet. The cyma platinum has the better (Cyma blue series) internals, but those of Double eagle are not bad either. If you plan to upgrade the motor to for example a warhead motor, expect possible fitment issues with the existing pistol grip. This can be an easy fix by replacing the pistol grip. Best of luck!

I got one of these a year and a half ago, it fucking grilled soon as I plugged the battery, didn't even fire the thing. at least Evo airsoft sent me a spare ETU but I like my AEGs better when the internals don't combust the very first time I try em out

Cyma platinum m4 series is fantastic. Krytac crb isn't bad either.

If you go with the EMG modified CYMA stuff they are really good right out of the box. The MOSFETs can be a bit iffy like most OEM MOSFETs. The gearbox can take one hell of a beating. The only thing I'd really replace on the EMG CYMAs is the shitty plastic nozzle and maybe the hop up / bucking. Be saving up for a new MOSFET because it will most likely fry eventually. Hell, at your price range you could probably order the Umbrella Corp EMG M4 and have them put a better MOSFET in from the start and you'll have a good reliable airsoft gun.

@@error262 Yeah, anything CYMA Platinum is good but will require some upgrading to get the most out of it. the EMG CYMA stuff is a steal because it is already pretty well upgraded. Barrel, hop-up, bucking... done.. you got a great airsoft gun to compete with the $1000 stuck-up gang.

the problem with the electronic trigger buzzing continuously and not allowing you to program any function is not a malfunction, it is just due to the bad Deans to Tamiya adaptor you used which was not able to provide a stable power connection. It is simply in protection mode to avoid damages. The smoke after you took apart the gearbox?... you have in some way damaged the wires' isolating cover and caused a nice short, there is not a fuse that can protect from damaging the gun by yourself 🙂 It is just basic understanding of how electronics work

Rhops work fine for me Get a far nicer trajectory, higher fps as less pressure is required to apply the same amount of back spin Can hop almost any weight and have better groupings All round rhops work great It funny because all of the decent buckings from maple leaf literally just copied the rhop method and attached it to a bucking Hardly a gimmick really

Build is a Cyma 098 whit stock gears reshimmed ofcourse, gate titan, warhead high speed, 1.6J whit 0.3 single locked for a DMR setup. I would like to use the precocking because it reduces the noise on each shot even more

So its a fancy cyma platinum mosfet that's even more fragile. Shouldn't need to install a fuse. Reminds me of when evike botched the downgrade on my aks74u. I try to see how it sounds because some of the newer ones (i got an older one brand new 5 months ago) are decently shimmed. I pull the trigger and nothing. I check the fuse capsule and what should i find in top of the dust cover not staying shut. There was no fuse at all so i had to supply my own. I close it then it starts working probably because the wires were contacting each other. Not trusting evike again. $5 for a box of 20 fuses and 2 weeks for later i finnaly get my first gun for real after the half baked tech job they did. If that's how airsoft techs from big retailers are if you want something done right do it yourself. Even now i found another problem. I want to put a Prometheus barrel in my gun. If ondo that, my gun wont be cqb legal. 345 on a gun that probably has a crap airseal is not a m100. That's probably a m110 but at least a m105. I might even need a m95 spring.
