I’m honestly pretty disappointed that a lot of the characters in Ultimate, with the exception of the game’s newcomers, have taunts that are either sped-up (looking at you, Mario), drastically shortened (looking at you, Kirby, and Peach), or even both... ☹️ I never saw the point of this... Same goes for many of the veteran fighter’s victory fanfares. Once again either faster, shorter, or both... I don’t see how they can be classified as new, that’s just lazy... 🙄 The only veterans I can think of that actually do have legit new fanfares are the Earthbound kids: Ness, and Lucas, the Mii Fighters: Brawler, Swordfighter, and Gunner, and the Fire Emblem cast being one for the Awakening crew: Lucina, Robin, and Chrom, and one for Fates’ protagonist: Corrin, that’s it.

I love the fact that Smash 4 mastered Sound Design with the Foley taunt so they can reuse it for Ultimate and probably for the next one. Also the character design from "realistic" in Brawl from more colourful design at 4 and Better design from original instead of a "different vibe" for an edgy version as Brawl was. Smash for 3DS & Wii U was the Peak of Smash Design in those terms.

Charizard went from a random Pokémon assisting on whoever's side by standing at the spot its PokéBall was spawned on and breathing fire left and right in 64 and Melee until it was playable in Brawl with Pokémon Trainer and his Ivysaur and Squirtle and it was a standalone character in 4 Wii U and 3DS and it was back to square one Brawl mechanics again in Ultimate. 20:52 Joker is my #1 all time favorite Smash character and my favorite taunt, too! Brawl had some better taunts because they weren't so fast but ultimates audio quality is better only because it released much after.but the brawl taunts felt more fun to use as they had a bit more style and emotion put into it instead of it being sped up a lot
