"INDIANS" AS A TERM HERE..IS NOT RELATED TO INDIANS IN ASIA..FURTHER, THE EAST INDIAN TRADING COMPANY referred to the EAST INDIES= EN DIOS, again...OF THE CARRIBEAN..EAST INDIES with no relation to HINDUSTAN, INSTEAD= EN/IN DIOS= IN or OF GOD..EN IN SPANISH/ IN in ITALIAN)..SO, a sunburned INDIAN(AND I AM 1/16TH INDIAN=6 PERCENT) WOULD shut up the lefties..AND YOU COULD CALL THEM REDSKINS.. Maybe, put THE SUN SHINING PARTIALLY VISIBLE OVER THE VERY DARK BURGUNDY INDIAN HEAD..I MEAN THE INDIAN IS SUNBURNED, RIGHT? AND CLEVELAND NEEDS TO CHANGE BACK IN BASEBALL. AS I demonstrated with facts, INDIANS is not a disrespectful term, and pays tribute, and does not bring derision to INDIANS. See.. WHICH MOST people today are. By the way, it was a DEMOCRAT PARTY SYMBOL that created the BRAVES in Baseball= TAMMANY HALL the corrupt Dem party early networking crony-building organization that ruthlessly ran NY CITY in the early 20th. Finally, ACCORDING TO ARCHAEOLOGISTS, there are no "NATIVE" ANCIENT INDIANS IN NO. AMERICA/ the U.S.. Either, INDIANS came by LAND BRIDGES AT THE STRAITS that were then fully connected to continents, or by papyrus boats as demonstrated by historian/archaeologist THOR HAYERDAHL IN his treatise: KONTIKI..He actually built a boat of thick, very dry papyrus and sailed it from ASIA AND AFRICA TO SOUTH AMERICA..SUCCESSFULLY. And, when Indians came here, eventually settling all over N.AMERICA, C. AMERICA/CARRIBEAN, AND S. AMERICA, THIS LAND was not even called AMERICA yet. It was only called the AMERICAS because map designer, CHARTERER AND CONSTRUCTOR= cartographer, also explorer)= the FLORENCE(IN ITALIAN= FIORENZA) CITY-STATE "ITALIAN"(ALTHOUGH ITALY DID NOT EXIST AS A COUNTRY UNTIL THE 19TH. CENTURY)AMERIGO VESPUCCI called it AMERICA, because he or someone else to honor his exploring and charting feat= mapping new 4th and 5th continents, named it after him, in, I believe, the 15th. or 16th. century. Considering all of that evidence.. There is NO SUCH THING AS A "NATIVE AMERICAN." We all came here from somewhere else. The fossil record proves it, too. AND, STEALING LAND HAPPENED AMONG INDIAN TRIBES, who were stealing or winning in tribal wars vs. OTHER INDIANS HERE, AS WELL AS EUROS IN AMERICA AND IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC.. So, what! What, are we going to do, go all the way back to GRONK IN CAVE #6 BECAUSE HE STOLE UNK'S CAVE 11, LOL? SPANIARDS IN MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMER. AND SPANIARDS AND PORTUGUESE IN SO. AMER. STOLE INDIOS LANDS. So, if we stole LATINOS AND INDIAN LANDS HERE AND THUS, WE HAVE TO ALLOW ILLEGAL ALIENS TO HAVE SOME OF THIS LAND, THEN, WE CAN ASK THE MEXICANS AND BRAZILIANS, ETC OF SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE DESCENT, RESPECTIVELY, TO LEAVE THOSE AREAS AND GIVE THE LAND BACK TO THE INDIOS, some of whom stole lands from other tribes and warred with those tribes= MAYANS, INCANS, AZTECS, NAHUATLS, ETC.. Until that happens, laws here say this is OUR LAND in 2022.. Got it, lefties? STOP BEING RIDICULOUS!

I've been watching the NFL since 1973. My Grandparents took me EVERY year/summer vacation to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. There I got to see classic game highlights of historical teams, games, and retro looks even back in 1976. The classic Redskins spear on a Maroon helmet. Then the yellow helmet with the ®️🪶 and so on. The classic Rams white horns, the classic Eagles white helmet and green wings, and the older Chicago Bears {C in white. So many memories of amazing players and teams. Epic and fun! Getting to go to that historic place as a kid was amazing! Lambeau Field! To get to walk inside it at 5, 6, 7, and 8 years old was surreal! Knowing that players played on there like Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Ray Nitchke, and other icons! As I grew up I saw Lynn Dickey, Chester Marcol, John Brockington, and more players I loved but weren't always the best teams. I became a MASSIVE fan of those little quarter machine football helmets. A little plastic replica NFL helmet, and a set of stickers. The side logos or logo in the Steelers case, or none in the Browns case except for the middle strip on top. At the HoF, they had sets of these helmets. You could buy the entire NFL, or just the NFC or AFC, OR you could buy the divisions. The NFC West, East, Central as well as the AFC divisions as well. They came with a Stand, a Goalpost, and depending on which division you got 4 or 5 helmets, stickers, and face masks. These little plastic helmets got me really into the Logos, the colors, and the jersey looks of the teams. I remember when the Buccaneers and Seahawks first arrived in the league getting to see a game played by them up in Milwaukee was tough! Plus the Buccaneers weren't exactly burning up the ratings for National televised games. I love art, drawing, cartooning, and sketches. Charcoal and lead being my specialty. These "characters", "logos", or caricatures of the teams names were so different, unique, and very cool to a 5-10 year old kid. This LOVE of the game, the love of the look of the game, and the desire to watch NFL, NCAA, and even USFL, and WFL games from all different years with all or any teams! I really just enjoy👀watching🏆👀🏈🏉football🏉🏈👀🏆, seeing the playoffs, whether it's from 2022-23, 1962, 1972, or 1987, just sit my @ss down in front of a 📺TV📺 or nowadays 🖥🖥TV'S🖥🖥, grabe a 🥤soda🥤 or three🥤🥤🥤, maybe a☕coffee☕, 🍿🍉🍊🍌🍐🍑🍒🍓🍦🍩🍪🍰🥧🍫🍽 🥩🥔🌽🧂🧈🥓🍔🍟🍕🌮🥪🌭🍗🍳🥓🧇🥞🍞and just spend the day relaxing, 👀watching👀 one or three games on 📺🖥TV🖥, feed my face on some kick butt snacks, or cooking out on the grill! Charcoal, hickory smoked chicken, steak! Mmmm-Mmmm! Growing up the weekend was special. Friday nights @ the 41-Twin Drive-in! Or the 24-Outdoor. Then Saturday mornings, they were all about the cartoons as a kid, then pro wrestling, and The Wide🌐🌎World🌎🌐of Sports! Maybe a Nascar race or a Indy Car 🏁🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎🏎or even the high-end cycles Racing! 🏁🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍🏍 Saturday's were special! As a kid usually by 11am I was ready to go outside, UNLESS some crazy thing was set to happen on AWA All-Star Wrestling WITH Verne Gagne, the champ Nick Bockwinkle, Baron Von Rachke, Mad Dog Vachon, the Tag-Team Division led by the High Flyers, Greg Gagne and Jumpin' Jim Brunzell, AND DA CRUSHER! To name a few. The Sundays, church with Grandma and Grandpa. Then home for football and sometimes a cookout! Those were such great times, awesome memories, and wonderful moments and experiences! Thank you for the reminder of this! It's amazing how one logo, or video, or something small and obscure can bring back a plethora of memories!🤔 Either way, THANKS! You have another sub!

Yes - good job on the history lesson without it turning into a political discussion. People need to know the history behind things without relying on the emotional fireworks of the day. Too bad that the media doesn't do their due diligence on such things. The team might still be the Redskins if people had more information on the history as you've laid out.

Awesome video. 33yo Jet Fan, grew up as a kid with the Kelly green Jets streak logo and my first few games at then Giants stadium and it will always be my favorite no matter what. They looked amazing when they wore those helmets on MNF this year. The 80s/90s dark blue and red piping Giants unis with the Giants underlined on the helmet is also by far my favorite look for the "other" team in town as well. Strange case of both teams' secondary iteration and late 20th century look being far superior to what they use currently.

58:59 the curved feathers were because of an adhesive defect with from the decal manufacturer not being able to keep the logos on the helmet. The curved feathers stuck to the helmet more effectively and the problem with the adhesive was solved in 1983. Only Joe Washington wore the 1972-81, 83-19 logo during 1982 as he had a different helmet and didn't have any problem with the decals falling off. (painted?)
@jamescaron64652 жыл бұрын
Washington used a Kelley clear shell helmet. The plastic shell was actually transparent and they would take thin water-based decals and stick them to the inside of the shell and then paint underneath it. So you just couldn’t peel off the decal and stick a new one on. But on the other hand the paint and the decals would never get scratched up because they were on the inside of the shell

Very nicely done piece on the history of the logos. Personally I miss the 49ers logo from 1968-1988/1988-1995 (they are basically the same). Also, it sucks not having the Oilers logo in the league anymore. Like the 49ers, that is one of the few logos/names that actually has clear ties to the city the team plays in.

I moved to Houston toward the end of the Houston Oilers. Adams vs. the mayor of Houston at the time was a quite petty display. Adams decided to try to force the city into a new stadium during what I think was the worst stretch in team history...not a great negotiating position. The infamous blown lead against Buffalo, the trade of Warren Moon... "build me a new stadium". The response was roughly "you don't even deserve the Astrodome". Yet further petty... Or maybe just unfortunate...was how long the Astrodome was left to decay, unused, before finally being torn down without much recognition. And, Bud never would let Houston have the colors, logos and records back.

As a Cleveland Indians fan I hope so as well. Maye one day when people realize that it's actually more racist to remove people of color from society than to include them. An additional tidbit that I'm surprised was not included in the video is that the Atlanta Falcons' helmets included a pair of thin gold stripes outside of the black and white stripes on the original red helmets. This was apparently a nod to Georgia Tech fans, who noted that the Falcons' helmets and color scheme were the same as the University of Georgia. They wore the gold stripes from the team's inception in 1966 through the 1969 season.

I noticed that and some other tidbits and didn't get mentioned about other teams also. However, to be fair those facts would need to be done with a similar video focused on helmets.
